Doubtless someone will track me down and kill me for this, but I've always thought that the melody of this song's coda ("I've goooot this epic problem") sounds like Sum 41.
I mean, if Sum 41 threw a shitload of chord changes behind their melodies and played in 6/4, but still...
Fugazi had this song in the wings for almost a decade before ever playing it. Apparently they couldn't settle on the structure (also I believe it was originally 2 separate songs before the put them together as one). So if you're implying they lifted or borrowed or were influenced by Sum 41, I think it highly unlikely, especially since Sum 41 wasn't around til, what, '96 or something .
I stand corrected :) I do remember going to one show at Trax in Charlottesville when I heard some of the songs off that album (I think the song Argument in particular) and I remember thinking I couldnt wait to hear the rest of their new stuff. I guess I just got it confused with the Fort Reno show.
Absolutely amazing song...one of their best rockers by far...gotta love that instrumental near the end of the song after the second chorus...disgustingly awesome.
I'd just like to comment that the album "the argument" had definately been released previous to this performance. It came out in 2001. I was also at this show and definately remembered knowing all the words to the song. One of my favs. Thanks for the video.
You are absolutely right! I went to every Fugazi show between '96-'99. I used to book shows at my college in Md. I, to this day, talk with Ian on a weekly basis. Fort Reno was always a blast but this song was out over a year when this video was made.
The argument was released in 2001. Thats why people are singing along towards the end... it wasnt unreleased. But still an awesome video

How anyone can even mention Fugazi and Bum-Someone 41 in the same breath is sheer lunacy! You are clearly a clueless little man!

well. Sum 41 is crap, but you calling some one a little man is pathetic.
