I am having difficulty in finding the relevance in your reply. You have failed to answer my question and got defensive when I was NOT criticizing Sifu Lau, merely quoting from his own website and stating the fact that prospective & current students have a right to know his pricing structure for classes.
It is the business of ANYBODY who studies at his Kwoon to know how much he charges.
"Twice Weekly £295 for 3 month contract" is what it says on SIMON LAU's own website. I don't know about what vagyna says is his weekly charge.
Since you train under him warrior2712, can you tell me why, if he owns his own "purpose built" kwoon/studio there is NOT the possibility of more than 2 lessons per week?
I love Wing Chun but joined Master Lau as a kid many moons ago, i was very dissaponted when their was a bully in the club who was bad to me and M Lau did nothing to help me. I left humiliated and dissapointed.

What they practised was a simple excercise for the nuns to learn how to have some kind of stance. This is obviously not a wing chun demonstration.
that's not chi sau... it's push hands from taijiquan (and poorly done at that) but maybe he has adapted it for his own purposes. Either way, it's not the normal chi sau drill.
Simon Lau is really a joke just like the rest of his stupid wing chun style brothers.. Bruce Lee was the real deal and the most humblest of them all, that's why he left the Wing Chun school. If you teach people a style, in a way you teach them how to become ignorant and cocky, but if you teach the true essence of martial arts then you'll surprised to figure out that Martial arts is nothing special at all and that hurting people is easier then you think.
His style is direct, and traditional. People who want to train seriousley and have set their mind to doing so gain from his teaching. I don't really know or care what other instructors think about their lineage as it doesnt really affect my wing chun. He is Fxcking good at what he does and therefore he is allowed to say so in my opinion. And so what if he is making money out of his skill. We all do. What do you want, free lessons? its never been like that.
I believe Simon Lau has an excellent reputation. You can see that in his past students. He has taught and influenced some of the best wing chun masters of our time including grandmaster Steve Lee Swift, master James Sinclair and master Shaun Radcliffe.
I can name 3 established Wing Chun exponents of good standing who studied under Simon Lau for a number of years yet who do not acknowledge him in THEIR lineage.
James Sinclair, Wai-Po Tang & Garry McKenzie.
James rarely mentions him by name though is open about many other WC Sifu's he has trained with.
Wai-Po does not name him (ANYONE can see Master X is Lau) yet regrets the years he spent under Simon.
His website has a passage: Wai-Po believed strongly in loyalty and he had tolerated unbearable treatments (being talked down to, and ridicule Wai-Po's teachings in front the class, and subjected him to mental bullying on daily basis) by his former master for 2-3 years. But it got to the extent where loyalty was seriously questioned and Wai-Po believed it was misplaced.
Garry Mckenzie AKA Abdul Malik AKA Ma Ga Lik again does not really mention him by name:
A hierarchy existed within the Wing-Chun class that at first seemed unfair. Non-Chinese students seemed to be there only to make up the numbers and usually lined the last row. Being pushed to the back, I didnt get the attention I deserved, but my attributes and hard training allowed me to climb up the ladder to become assistant instructor." Emel Magazine - May 2007
I hate to mention him in same breath as the other 3 respected Sifu's but WC Loony 'Sijo' Sid Sofos was also a student of Simon Lau's from the early 1980's and received the majority of his "training" under Lau though he gives him no credit.
Sid's brother Andrew Sofos also a Lau student DOES mention him as their primary instructor but points out he had to go elsewhere to progress in the WHOLE system of Wing Chun.
jjbr622 - You also named "Shaun Radcliffe" I take it you meant SHAUN RAWCLIFFE. I have never met the gentlemen but he does have a good reputation. His website states:
Between 1979 and 1989 he was fortunate to study with Sifu Stephen Chan, Sifu Brian Hook, Sifu Simon Lau and Sifu Samuel Kwok.
Simon Lau has a mixed reputation. He can certainly generate the correct type of short range power in his punches and has passed this on to a fair amount of his students.
On the negative side it has been suggested his knowledge of Wing Chun Kuen is lacking, specifically of the Wooden Dummy form, and that he is primarily concerned with profit and not the art or his students.
So what are you saying basically? That Simon Lau is a joke? Don't me wrong my friend I'm neither against the issue or for it. It so happens to be that I wish to learn Wing Chun on one of his training facilities here in Sweden and by your reports I must say a bit of skepticism has grown. I've also read an interview on his Swedish website and he certainly didn't sound keen on Bruce Lee :)
Although I agree with what WingChum wrote to me in private message I do think Simon Lau is abit in it for the profit. Anyways, to each his own. Just remember that learning self defense is more important then learning the art itself. Most Wing Chun practitioners get their asses severely beaten because of their ego, rather then listening to what their teachers told them. Or it could be the other way around.
If you yourself enjoy it then kudos for you. I'm not interested in joining any of those martial arts "style" schools because to me style's are nothing but separation between humans just like religion. Once you start learning Wing Chun and stick with it to sort of "master" it for you egotistical purposes you're bound to be confined in a deluded reality and eventually get your ass beaten simply on the street because your choice of patten of techniques is never functional on the street.
i was a student of simaon lau studying wing chun. i was practicing some moves with another student but he didnt want to practice hard.i shouted at the student 'train hard! this is about preparing for violence' simon was shocked and told me to go out of the class. it was a joke, it looked like simon had never heard anyone shout before -lack of experience-this so called master teaches re-hearsed moves and knows nothing of spontaneous violence-he has probably never been attacked in his life-a joke
i wont insult you as you tried to insult me but i will say this, if you are selling a product you need to know it inside out..further more, instead of sending me out of the class simon should have made a philosophical statement to the class about why i shouted..he could have used this time to have shown knowledge and wisdom and to have made a difficult situation into a positive one...but that is something that only true masters are capable of...
I agree with you man! as my instructer always says!! "Dont take everything on trust go out and test the system".I have been studying the chinese martial arts for a long time now,I have studied systems like!Wing Chun,Chow Gar Hung Gar and Shaolin Five Ancestors Fist! Belive me I have tried them out, and the techniques are very very practical in all of those systems. This person who dissed you! he dont know himself! As Brad Pit said!in -FC "How do you know yourself if you have never been in a fight"
I actually have some very old footage of Sifu Lau teaching in a London MA school late 1980's, if anybody can tell me how to copy and convert it from a videorecorder to a PC I will be happy to post it; it is a BBC documentary about MA that was also shown I think on DiscoVeryChannel, some very interesting stuff also showing Dan Inosanto teaching some jeet kune do
Has Simon Lau ever been involved in a real fight? And are there any other videos of him on the internet? I've searched on here but this is the only one I could find.
so it wasnt a bad class to be in! I may be biased with my opinions as my lineage is Lee Shings but it is something im interested in - if you do know any of his relationship with Ip Man could you please PM me?
123geezer, I went to one of his seminar couple of weeks ago, I asked him informations about his phisical training, he told me it was his business, few people in the room found his reply rude, one girl left in the middle of the seminar, I stayed and joined his classes, I like his genuine and straight forward way of dealing with people, if he doesn't like something he will tell you straight in your face, I really appreciate people like him in this fake society.
back in the day, you would have been greatful from getting a telling off from your master. yip man used to be very smart witted with his students too. Now you go in and think you own the place and act as though master simon lau is rubbish. His skill is scary, obviously it made you wee your pants, with your tail between your legs.
to posdenous1988..I am not sure if I agree with you that the best are still there. In every school there are good and bad students. However, he does teach in ways which are unlike anywhere else. Some people will take this to be a positive . Others will see it as a negative. Personally, I like his teaching because it incorporates mental self improvement as well as physical development. He puts as much stress on the former as he does on the latter.
to posdenous1988...you, mate, don't know what you're talking about and you don't know me. I can take positive criticism - what I can't take is students being laughed at coz they don't understand something. I simply left because I found a Sifu who wasn't 'precious' with passing on info, and thus I think I've improved more than I ever would have than if I'd stayed in Sth Kensington. I'm guessing you're still a student of his? One day you too will see the light. Enjoy it while it lasts.
to 123geezer....... the only reason why u think he had no respect is because you can not let go of your ego. Learn to take critisism , it makes you a good artist. And if u were probably in the centre at one time, you cant have been that great if you left, because the best are still there.
i think he just wanted to show them the theory behind all the sticky hand stuff...its a lot better than most videos here where they chi sau and try to take each others heads off.
Fuck man!! U call that dipshit master!!!! his chi sau so damn bad!!!!!!Look at those dipshit chi sau that he taught, one thing: fast.!!!! do they know what the real meaning of chi sau ? Chi sau u don;t go fast. u use ur skill instead of speed. Find out others people mistake and attack them. Not just going up and down as fast as they could.
and even something when the master Chi sau, he go so damn fast!!!!!!!
It is so easy to judge and criticize things that you see in film, especially something like a martial art. As a result, you limit yourself from a true learning experience. You gain nothing. Furthermore by displaying this attitude, your Wing Chun / Martial art can only attain a certain level. Those with an open mind will be more likely to progress further as they are mentally stronger.
Exactly right. This is entertainment you cant teach chi sau in a day. Check out Simon Lau in this programme if your more interested in Wing Chun check out Simon lau teaching in 70's in the Way Of The Warrior Hard Way BBC documentary
Anyone that practices Wing Chun will surely realise that the nuns are not doing Chi Sau. This, I believe, is a genuinue mistake by the programme narrator. No beginner can learn to do Chi Sau in a day.
That type of power is what made bruce lee famous , and that type of movement is what seperates good wing chun artists from the bad. Seriously, all critisism aside, every1's opinion is respected, but from my experience, he is one of the fewest geniune masters around.
Whether they like to admit it or not, most of the best practitioners have had to learn from simon lau at some point in their lives. He teaches honestly, and teaches something other teachers do not, and that is how to move, and how to generate the right type of power.
The explanation of how powerful and great at wing chun he really is can take pages upon pages. I can understand that those looking at this video for the first time, will critisise, but for those who are confused and need to comment on his ability, you should go and pay him a visit in south kensington. I think you would find that he trully is a great master, and then you would realise why he is the master of some of the greatest wing chun practitioners around.
Take a look at Simon Lau's website. Comparing his homepage to other Wing Chun sites, I find that his idea of an informative introduction to the art itself comes second place to his media tv status and overshadows the Wing Chun itself. I have 'trained' with some of Lau's students and found that their Wing Chun doesn't the centreline theory correctly and is weak against correct use of energies. Master Simon Lau is now a 'Grandmaster' on tv 'Fight Club' I bet he loves it!
Take a look at Simon Lau's website.Comparing his homepage to other Wing Chun sites,I find that his idea of an informative introduction to the art itself comes 2nd place to his media tv status and overshadows the Wing Chun itself. This video was terrible! I have 'trained' with some of Lau's students and found that their Wing Chun does not use the centreline theory correctly and is weak against correct use of energies. Master Simon Lau is now a 'Grandmaster' on tv 'Fight Club' I bet he loves it!
Breaking a pine board in WING CHUN? I have never heard of breaking boards in the system. His Sticky Hands looked like Tai Chi Push Hands. I have never seen "sticky hand" technique like that in ANY wing chun system. I have understood that begining sticky hands begins with Don Chi Sao.
if your saying thst Simon lau's instructor is bad then you are sorely mistaken! its my understanding that he was Lee Shings student - a true Ip Man disciple. And also Ip Mans representative in Europe, appointed by Ip Man himself, so he wasnt too bad!
Been there done that mate - he had no respect for his students. One day a fellow student asked him a genuine question and he answered by laughing at him saying, 'You're not training hard enough' What kind of BS is that? Anyway, I'll let you carry on learning limited Wing Chun. That's why you're chi sau looks ropey and will always be (yes, we've touched hands before but I won't tell you who I am! Lol! Me? Bitter? Certainly not - just telling it like it is!
I don't about an american gangster. But I know this little guy asian who trains in traditional shaolin kungfu. 3 islanders (samoa/tonga) tried to steal his shoes. He kicked the shit out of all three! He's not a rich guy and it was his new sneakers. Islanders are so much meaner.
A predictable response Mofotox. So if we are to beleive you then all the Masters that have footage on YT, from 1st generation Yip Man to other well known lineages are all "Frauds" in your opinion, Yeah Right.. Let's face it, your NO martial artist, and if you had anything positive to offer, you would post some footage of yourself to show if anything you say has foundation. So put up or just shut up.
my friends... there are a lot of cyber sifu's on youtube. Just ignore them. Ever notice they NEVER post clips of themselves? That alone... speaks volumes. Just appreciate these videos and turn a deaf ear to these armchair quarterbacks. Peace.
I think we would all appreciate it if MOFOTOX posted some footage of himself or his Sifu, so that we can see why his Kung Fu is so good. From his negative comments on just about all the Wing Chun on YT, he must be of a very high level, and if the kung fu is that good, we could all learn. So instead of being a "Keyboard Warrior" please enlighten us all with your skills and at least have the courage and conviction to "Walk the Walk" and not just "Talk the Talk"
Since when any reputable sifu puts video on YT? Only those low level students put up crap or they pirated some sifu's DVD. Others are _ing __un hustlers, peddlers, thugs and punks. Do I want to educate people on YT by video? Absolute not! I'm here just to expose those fakes, frauds and charlatans. I have nothing else to prove except may be poking fun of bad _ing __un. Look for my "Lineage Cleansing" video this fall.
everybody should open their eyes simon lau is a fraud! motofox seems 2 have hit the nail on the head people like simon lau & austin goh bring shame to the lee shing lineage & the wing chun style! However, that is not to say they are completely useless just not as usefull as they make out to be everybody do your research & find out for yourselves!
you all talk about wing chun and 'authenticity'.. tell me, what good is this if you have no close range power. This is what seperates those good masters from the ones who teach monkey wing chun. One hit from a master such as simon lau would drill a hole in your body let alone hitting you.
The Ip family is mainly a huge business all claiming to be the 'best students' if ip man. Once you gather the short range power, the techniques are applyable from all angles. So what is authentic? When you get your face caved in on the street , are you going to go back and say you were authentic. Authenticy changes from generation to generation, the system gets better and better adapted to ones individual style. Even bruce lee detested stayin 'authentic'.
Your simply a monkey or a sheep if you constantly in the sursuit of greed for money. Then you say he charges this much and that much for his wooden dummy
As for who the best Sifu is, I think that's subjective - you might think that the Sifu you're with is the business, you move on to another one then realise that your old Sifu was talking rubbish all along - believe me I've been there!
So, you might be the most naturally talented person but be taught rubbish, or be rubbish even after being taught by 'the best out there'
I NEVER said James Sinclair was a" Master"; all I said was his SLT was "not bad". If you follow me long enough, (obvious you've been) you should know I rarely give complements, let along calling anyone a master! James did learn under Simon Loud, just as Scam-uel Crook studied first under Lee Sin but they all SWITCH LINEAGE to the Ip family for better marketing. James probably learned a little better after switching.
My eyes hurt. Not one video on YT without mofotox's comment on it. I'm really curious Mofotox...who died and left you in charge lol. No seriously, what gives you the right to judge anybody's Wing Chun, lineage, techniques etc? hm?
I say mofotox is the "scum fu" who hides behind and empty channel. You call others thugs, but I find your behavior to be most thug like, trolling every WC video on YT and talking shit about everyone you see.
what he has shown there is a few basic tai chi drills. there's no wing chun taught to these nuns. he is clearly a TV star. And who gave him the title grandmaster??????????????
Obviously, he self-proclaimed himself as "grand mobster", LOL. Did you know how much he charges for teaching his BOGUS wooden dummy form, per section? Scam Master Shit-fu!
Simon Loud is another wilted branch from the Lee Shing's mix and match bastardized WC. He is a fake and charlatan who does not even know the complete forms. His fake "Chi Sau" is so obviously borrowed from other styles ( tai chi anyone?). Sorry for all the students got duped!
mofotox i have pm'd you in the past because i like your honesty and deep knowledge of kung fu. i have to say i disagree with your comments this time. Lee Shing was Ip Mans representative in Europe, as chosen by Ip Man himself. he learnt the full system from ip man and was given Ip Man's personal baat jam do. his students are some of the best WC fighters around. Joseph Cheng for example. & if your from the states then check out Alan Lamb-he learnt his kung fu from Joseph Cheng & he aint too bad!
Well, thanks. You are entitled to you own opinion about LS's lineage of course. I have my own eyes to see, however. I know a little bit about LS relationship with YM. However, what make you think 'he learnt the full system from ip man and was given Ip Man's personal baat jam do' is true? Yip Man's set of BJD, made by his real close door student, (not Leung Thug) is now on display at the Fosan Yip Man Tong Museum. Where's LS's pair of fake ones now?
i have to be honest - i only know what i have heard and read - unfortunately i knew neither Lee Shing or Ip Man personally! however the story goes that Ip Chun immediately recognised the knives and asked if his father had shown LS the knife form, when LS answered that he had been taught the form the story goes that Ip Chun went very quiet. I believe LS's knives are with Joseph Man now. I suppose your aware that LS studied Pien San wing chun in Kulo village first? alongside Lok Yui and Pan Nam
This will give the nuns a false sense of security. Unless they spar, they won't understand distance, timing, pressure, and the need to strengthen/condition the body. It doesn't matter if they can break boards.

1 lesson a week is more than enough !
if you train for a year what you learn in one lesson, i doubt that you will master whatever you learned.(all advanced student know that)
As I said before people judge without knowing all the fact, because they too scared to look into themselves.
you don't go and buy a Rolce Royce and complain about the price.
Another thing, he's not only a Master in Wing Chun, but in Chi Kung And also a Chinese doctor . so enough of this!

Wing chun is not a competitive sport.
It is real for real situations in the street.
and it is a martial arts that comes with a philosophy that as important as the fighting skills.
if you don't belive me, learn the style and you'' see how fast you'll be able to scrap...
provided that you train and overcome yourself as this is the ultimate goal for real martial artist.
no comparison to money and fame.

Being pushed to the back, I didnt get the attention I deserved, but my attributes and hard training allowed me to climb up the ladder to become assistant instructor." Emel Magazine - May 2007
WingChum 3 years ago 15

Grandmaster Steve Lee Swift?
I had never heard of him before your post, jjbr622 - but I am UK based and he is in the States.
He DOES have Simon Lau named in his lineage!
My initial assessment of Simon Lau's "mixed reputation" seems to hold well under the differing accounts (or lack thereof!) of various former students.
I wonder if he still claims:
"I am better than Bruce Lee". :)

123Geezer 1 year ago
Simon Lau has a mixed reputation. He can certainly generate the correct type of short range power in his punches and has passed this on to a fair amount of his students.
On the negative side it has been suggested his knowledge of Wing Chun Kuen is lacking, specifically of the Wooden Dummy form, and that he is primarily concerned with profit and not the art or his students.
WingChum 3 years ago 15
So what are you saying basically? That Simon Lau is a joke? Don't me wrong my friend I'm neither against the issue or for it. It so happens to be that I wish to learn Wing Chun on one of his training facilities here in Sweden and by your reports I must say a bit of skepticism has grown. I've also read an interview on his Swedish website and he certainly didn't sound keen on Bruce Lee :)
FlawlessCock 3 years ago 2
I for one am training at one of his training facilities here in Sweden. I am very satisfied with the training. I love it.
JeSuisPrete 3 years ago

Exactly. The mind is the real deal, not the your tools.

i was a student of simaon lau studying wing chun. i was practicing some moves with another student but he didnt want to practice hard.i shouted at the student 'train hard! this is about preparing for violence' simon was shocked and told me to go out of the class. it was a joke, it looked like simon had never heard anyone shout before -lack of experience-this so called master teaches re-hearsed moves and knows nothing of spontaneous violence-he has probably never been attacked in his life-a joke

i wont insult you as you tried to insult me but i will say this, if you are selling a product you need to know it inside out..further more, instead of sending me out of the class simon should have made a philosophical statement to the class about why i shouted..he could have used this time to have shown knowledge and wisdom and to have made a difficult situation into a positive one...but that is something that only true masters are capable of...

123geezer, I went to one of his seminar couple of weeks ago, I asked him informations about his phisical training, he told me it was his business, few people in the room found his reply rude, one girl left in the middle of the seminar, I stayed and joined his classes, I like his genuine and straight forward way of dealing with people, if he doesn't like something he will tell you straight in your face, I really appreciate people like him in this fake society.

to posdenous1988..I am not sure if I agree with you that the best are still there.
MomentisAlways 4 years ago
to posdenous1988...you, mate, don't know what you're talking about and you don't know me.

And if u were probably in the centre at one time, you cant have been that great if you left, because the best are still there.
posdenous1988 4 years ago
i think he just wanted to show them the theory behind all the sticky hand stuff...its a lot better than most videos here where they chi sau and try to take each others heads off.

Man this video is gay
goldpig0612 4 years ago 3
It is so easy to judge and criticize things that you see in film, especially something like a martial art. As a result, you limit yourself from a true learning experience. You gain nothing. Furthermore by displaying this attitude, your Wing Chun / Martial art can only attain a certain level. Those with an open mind will be more likely to progress further as they are mentally stronger.

Exactly right. This is entertainment you cant teach chi sau in a day. Check out Simon Lau in this programme if your more interested in Wing Chun check out Simon lau teaching in 70's in the Way Of The Warrior Hard Way BBC documentary
jjbr622 4 years ago 2
Anyone that practices Wing Chun will surely realise that the nuns are not doing Chi Sau. This, I believe, is a genuinue mistake by the programme narrator. No beginner can learn to do Chi Sau in a day.
MomentisAlways 4 years ago
That type of power is what made bruce lee famous , and that type of movement is what seperates good wing chun artists from the bad. Seriously, all critisism aside, every1's opinion is respected, but from my experience, he is one of the fewest geniune masters around.
posdenous1988 4 years ago
Whether they like to admit it or not, most of the best practitioners have had to learn from simon lau at some point in their lives. He teaches honestly, and teaches something other teachers do not, and that is how to move, and how to generate the right type of power.
posdenous1988 4 years ago 2
The explanation of how powerful and great at wing chun he really is can take pages upon pages. I can understand that those looking at this video for the first time, will critisise, but for those who are confused and need to comment on his ability, you should go and pay him a visit in south kensington. I think you would find that he trully is a great master, and then you would realise why he is the master of some of the greatest wing chun practitioners around.
posdenous1988 4 years ago
This video is only done as an awareness video for women. It is not here to demonstrate his ability in wing chun.

I think we would all appreciate it if MOFOTOX posted some footage of himself or his Sifu, so that we can see why his Kung Fu is so good. From his negative comments on just about all the Wing Chun on YT, he must be of a very high level, and if the kung fu is that good, we could all learn. So instead of being a "Keyboard Warrior" please enlighten us all with your skills and at least have the courage and conviction to "Walk the Walk" and not just "Talk the Talk"

you all talk about wing chun and 'authenticity'.. tell me, what good is this if you have no close range power. This is what seperates those good masters from the ones who teach monkey wing chun. One hit from a master such as simon lau would drill a hole in your body let alone hitting you.
posdenous1988 4 years ago 2
The Ip family is mainly a huge business all claiming to be the 'best students' if ip man. Once you gather the short range power, the techniques are applyable from all angles. So what is authentic? When you get your face caved in on the street , are you going to go back and say you were authentic. Authenticy changes from generation to generation, the system gets better and better adapted to ones individual style. Even bruce lee detested stayin 'authentic'.

who do you think are the best current sifu's?
Is it not more about the students capability and effort than the sifu?
jjbr622 4 years ago
As for who the best Sifu is, I think that's subjective - you might think that the Sifu you're with is the business, you move on to another one then realise that your old Sifu was talking rubbish all along - believe me I've been there!
So, you might be the most naturally talented person but be taught rubbish, or be rubbish even after being taught by 'the best out there'
DJKaija 4 years ago
Mofotox, you said James Sinclair was clearly a master. He was taught by Sifu Lau. Now you say Sifu Lau is no good. Shows how much you know.
jjbr622 4 years ago
I NEVER said James Sinclair was a" Master"; all I said was his SLT was "not bad". If you follow me long enough, (obvious you've been) you should know I rarely give complements, let along calling anyone a master! James did learn under Simon Loud, just as Scam-uel Crook studied first under Lee Sin but they all SWITCH LINEAGE to the Ip family for better marketing. James probably learned a little better after switching.

mofotox i have pm'd you in the past because i like your honesty and deep knowledge of kung fu. i have to say i disagree with your comments this time.
NorthernDaveTN2 3 years ago
Well, thanks. You are entitled to you own opinion about LS's lineage of course. I have my own eyes to see, however. I know a little bit about LS relationship with YM. However, what make you think 'he learnt the full system from ip man and was given Ip Man's personal baat jam do' is true? Yip Man's set of BJD, made by his real close door student, (not Leung Thug) is now on display at the Fosan Yip Man Tong Museum. Where's LS's pair of fake ones now?
mofotox 3 years ago 2
i have to be honest - i only know what i have heard and read - unfortunately i knew neither Lee Shing or Ip Man personally! however the story goes that Ip Chun immediately recognised the knives and asked if his father had shown LS the knife form, when LS answered that he had been taught the form the story goes that Ip Chun went very quiet. I believe LS's knives are with Joseph Man now. I suppose your aware that LS studied Pien San wing chun in Kulo village first? alongside Lok Yui and Pan Nam
