  • My '93 SL1 odometer stopped working a couple of weeks ago at 223K. Is it possible the cable (or it's attached gear) went bad or is it always the gears inside the instrument cluster? Now that Saturn is closed, where do I get the parts and how much do they cost? Do I just ask for odometer gears or do I need to buy a kit? Thank you.

  • @ewzm Most likely it is this gear. Its a rather common problem with our Saturns. I got my part off of Ebay. There are Ebay parts stores that sell this gear for $20+. I bought mine from a guy out in Arizona. His ebay name is Kabuly. I guess he hand makes them with his own mold. At $14, he is the best price. He ships them by US mail so it will get to you in about 2 days.

Just replacing this tiny gear is a lot cheaper than replacing the whole gauge cluster. I hope this helps!
