The US should have built a couple thousand fewer Shermans and instead built a couple thousand more of these. It was the best US design to see service. Had they installed the Caterpillar diesel that was tested in the Sherman it would have been a very safe and capable machine and not underpowered. There is a really good recent book called "Death Traps" by a tank maintenance officer in WWII. He had positive and negative comments on the US stuff and German stuff. All of them had their limits.
what a beast...If only they thought of this as soon as they first saw the German tanks...A lot of good men wouldn't have burned to death in those horrid Shermans.
and before people say no the pershing was a heavy when it was first built it was pictured by the americans as their first heavy but by the true technical terms of the tank weight class it fell under the heavy class and was considered a medium
the rare firefly sherman was much more deadlier than the american counterparts. the british mounted their antitank guns on the sherman and turned it into the firefly but the pershing was nowhere close to the supoosed american tiger that guy said it was its only a medium with a 90 mm gun. the first true american heavy the m6 only had the 90mm they had blueprints for the t29 which had the first true heavy gun the 105mm.but this never truly hit the factory floor
@direwolf83 And our 76mm was easier to produce, and could kill Panthers at 1,400 to 1,600 meters. Our tanks also didn't have their ammunition exposed and were not nicknamed Tommy Cookers. Get your facts straight! Also, the Tiger was inferior to the M-26, you dumb-wit. M-26s/M4A4E8s had a field day with Russian/German equivalents. So, please. Mind keeping your grammar-less mouth shut?
@Tyco200 first of all i didnt say the m26 was inferior to the tiger at all i said the pershing was not an actual heavy it was a medium and the firefly which was a british modified sherman was superior to the sherman. i was actually talking about the first actual heavies that might have hit the ww2 battlefields which would have been the m6 and t29. but it doesnt matter your just another fuckin troll so stfu and move on
@Tyco200 Hah, M-26 was compatible withnothing but t-34/85 (the t-44 was FAR superior) and panther (beside the fact, that the operational range, speed, engine power was simply pathetic- more or less...But not with IS series of tanks or Tigers! Knocking out one or two tigers within 1000 yards was not a problem even for a firefly...
@Shchetchynianin No other medium tank (it's classified as a heavy but was designed as a medium; it just had a shitty engine) was comparable with the M-26 Pershing except the Panther, which was inferior.
@redreaper2020 oh come on! I just listed arguments for superiority of panther. Which is a predecessor of modern western MBTs, not m-26...As I said - M-26 had far inferior speed, range, engine power - not to mention the canon itself...
@Shchetchynianin The pershing used a shitty engine--when we stuck a decent engine in it, it became the M-46. It had also better frontal armor, it had respectable speed, and didn't have a final drive, track, and transmission that broke the fuck down every 250km or jammed up solid when hit by even mg fire.
As for the gun, the 75mm would usually penetrate the frontal armor, of a T-34/85. The Pershing's 90mm went through the front of a T-34/85, through the crew, engine, bulkhead, and OUT THE BACK!
@Shchetchynianin The 90mm was far superior to the 75 in optics set, range, power, and accuracy. The Panther was very tall, overengineered, and unreliable. It was a good tank, yes, but it wasn't as good as some people say.
@redreaper2020 Exactly. The panther tank is VERY overrated. The front armor wassent that great against the 17PDR and 90mm. The side armor was very thin, and the tall height.. The panther also had a very bad safety record in the wehrmacht, a very high chance of catching fire or ammo cookoff's
Also the panther had TERRIBLE reliability
In panther devisions amongst non rookie tank crews, there was a saying. "It takes 4 panthers to kill 1 sherman. 3 Broke down on the way and 1 to take the shot"
@redreaper2020 The overall design is good of the panther. However the Panther was supposed to have a turbine engine and a 88mm in 1945/1946 making it far superior then any allied tanks. Not just that the upcoming Panther 2 which was going to be mass produced already in 1944 would be equipped with a 88mm or a 105mm cannon. Also would be using a turbine engine and it would be heavier armored.
@SMGJohn with the fuel efficiency of early turbines, and the German fuel situation, plus the operational demands of a tank and the fact that most tanks were taken out by air power, that'd actually help the allies, not hurt them.
Pershing was truly the first real US Tank with Both Fire power and adequate armor protection that was fielded on the Battle field. Everything else was a Light Tank or at 34 ton Sherman a Medium TAnk. 37 mm anttitank round could tank them out at 500 yards. Knowing when to fire to penitrate a particular type of Tank Armor was the factor between success and failure. simple enough. Knowing when to engage a particular Tank and knowing its weakness could mean the difference between life and death.
These should've been adopted MUCH SOONER in the war. In fact, the Shermans should've been replaced when the T-20 series of tanks became available. It's just that the US army then (and just like today) was run by very shortsighted boneheads. They were even claiming that the M4's 75 mm gun can penetrate the Tiger's armor... Fact is their stupidity that prevented heavier tanks with improved firepower from being adopted lead to many unnecessary deaths among US tank crews.
@bearsfan97 There were many prototypes built during WW2. None of them was accepted by the military commanders on the ground. These tanks were available from the year 1942. They were more advanced than the Sherman and they should've replaced the Shermans. The M26 Pershing is the culmination of the T-20 tanks development. But there were other models from the T-20 series that should've been adopted much sooner to replace the Sherman which, in many generals' words, was a death trap for its crews.
@StiviGun1 Dont tell me the truth ! its hurts to know are Shermans were just pill box on tracks with low vellocity 75. The better high Vellocity 76mm even up the odds a little better and could knock out panthers at around I believe 800 yards. Frontal. The round itself wasnt much improved, just steel slug traveling much faster.
@GalaticSpaceHero Well, the truth is the Sherman really wasn't suited for the type of warfare that was going on during WW2. It was designed for a flawed doctrine that said tanks shouldn't fight other tanks which was a flawed doctrine.
As for that 76 mm gun, it was a good gun, but more powerful guns could've been mounted on the T-20 tanks. 75 mm autocannons were also tested on T-20 tanks. 90 mm or even higher caliber guns could've also been mounted on those tanks.
@0willsy01 If you are able to point me in the direction of any credible sources which back up your claims I would be very grateful for the service rendered. If not, then I hope you will have the decency to stop repeating your rather sentational claims and stop insulting the memories of the deceased and the intelligence of the living with gross distortions of history.
@0willsy01 I can't make up my mind as to wether you are simply flame baiting or are a white supremacist seeking to establish some moral equivalence and thereby resurecting the political acceptability of facism. The numbers you are citing contradict each other. You say that the majority of 6 million dead Germans were civillians. you then say that the Russians killed 16-19 million. Official German sources record the majority (by a factor of about 5-1) of German casualties being military.
@0willsy01 With regard to the figure of 19 million, I have never come across this figure and it appears completely ludicrous. Official German sources cite 942,000 German civillian deaths during the war. It is true that many died during the forced expulsion of German populations from Eastern Europe and estimates vary between 500,000 and 2.5 million (with the lower figure being more commonly accepted). While this is an undeniable tragedy, these deaths had nothing to do with Eisenhhower.
@0willsy01 However, to put these deaths into context, Ruedeiger Overmans of the German Office of Military History puts the number of deaths due to all causes of German PoWs held by Americans at 56,000 out of a totall of about 5 million. In other words, 1 per cent. Of course, even this figure would appear to be unacceptably high but it must be remembered that much of Europe had been devastated by war and the resources required to care for its population were enormous.
@craigtube85 Hardly. The holocaust is an event massively documented and supported by countless witness statements. The allegations that Eisenhower deliberatley starved German prisoners of war, resulting in millions dying, are ridiculed by mainstream historians and contradict the majority of anecdotal evidence from former German PoWs. It is true that their were many deaths in the prisoner of war camps set up by the (western) allies.
@0willsy01 Sorry mate, no such thing as 'Eisenhower death camps'. The book 'Other Losses' on which this claim is based was written by a novelist with no previous experience of historical study. This book has been trashed by legions of serious historians, inlcuding German ones. There were massive problems with feeding the German population as a whole (not just the POWs) and Europe for that matter in the aftermath of WW2. Britain for example, still had rationing in force until 1949.
@0willsy01 ive read/heard about german and jap camps, but idk about murder/coverups. Ive read that the way the germans were treated, wasnt as bad as the japp's. The germans didnt attack us, the japs did, as the book quoted, we almost ignored the germans rite after pearl harbor, and concentrated on the jap' camps. were is this info located? I would like to read about it.
I talked to many german elders that came over during the war, and said they were in camps, and it wasnt at all as bad as u say.
@0willsy01 I see :D ....i even doubt he works for Boeing ,anyways i will send them for fun report with direct link to his youtube account , takes little time . As a Boeing fan i really care for their good name ....fake or rotten employees are dangerous .
@0willsy01 In the last weeks of WWII there are actually alot of "lucky" misses . Quite a few of the captured shells only have50% or less of their podwer cahrge. (Depend on slave labour, sabotae will happen), Why would a "cultures" people follow a demigouge to war and defeat? Why to "modern" peoplelike you sitll celebrate nazism?THAT make no sense.
@0willsy01 VC you dont konw me and never "dealt" with me. Critque you own self and own wild prejudicial biased claims. OF course n your loonly head everyone who diagrees with you must be some racist troll (and you a national front member, lol), stop bugging poor old ignorant owilly and living off your poor old penioner mum.
HUNNICUT WAS NOT A PARTICIAPANT, VETERAN, NOR WITNESS. DEBUNK CPL iRWIN (PERSHING GUNNER) SSG MADURI, BELTON COOPER, THE 3rdAD HISTORY. which was recored before the advent of the internet (btw where is the photo and turret number of the first Kt destroyed by the allies?)SEE, Spearhead in the West (1946 edition); Death Traps by Belton Cooper; and Another River, Another Town and personal writings by John P. Irwin ,but in your pronazi revisonist world these veterans are liars
@USExceptionalism There isnt a single 100% proof that SP knocked out KT. ( no photos , no tank number , crew members wasnt even 100% sure what they hit ) Same case as all USAF pilots claimed to be strafing "Tiger" tank.... or the B-17 gunner claiming that he shot down over 500 german aircrafts in ONE raid.
There is only 100% evidence that Pershing knocked out Tiger I / Panther / Panzers , plain simple ( photos , tank numbers ,even video (panther case), records)
@ViciousCritique Realistically, in a tank battle, hwo unbuttons to take photos? In the age of dgigtal photgraphy, and satelitte imagery, where are all the photos from Mc Masters Eagle Troop at Talakwana Ridge and 73 Easting? 501 st Heavy Panzers lsot 12 tanks to M10 and Sherman fire, where are the photos? What are the Turret numbers.?Keep up with your excuses. But I guess in your war world, the earth is under nazi occupation.
@USExceptionalism "pronazi revisionist world these veterans are liars" . U need to understand those veterans were under heavy stress life situation , in that SP vs KT even the visibility was very bad . SP crew member himself confirms he wasnt 100% sure what it was he only believed it could be KT. Why didnt they take picture of that KT wreck ?? As a typical american WWII trophy picture.
Because it was only moral propaganda made by US to show how mighty US tank crushed best german heavy tank.
@ViciousCritique PURE FOOLISHNESS. Moral propaganca? This isncisend happened within 10 days of the end of the ETO. Where is the propganda value? Propaganda ahd to be timely. Why did this not appear until 55 years later? The Allies destoyed or captured ALL athe Tiger Aufs Bs or their abandoned hulks. Where are ALL the photos? Afew US tank mechancis, gerry rigged in a few daysa tank taht destroyed the very best of nazi "science"
@USExceptionalism In short ...KT vs SP never happened u can even check serious WWII forums (i linked one of them they even used same material/books as u did) ....and all are pretty much convinced it was only moral propaganda boost and pure fantasy . And if u believe to everything what veterans says ...(that crew member was only 18) .......if i will return from war and i will claim some exaggerated stories makes me trustworthy only because i was there , right ....
@ViciousCritique In detail all your "debunking" comes from blogspots and opinions and not actually READING the book sources (are you literate?) Again where is the moral "propaganda value from a book 60 years after the event? You return from war? thats a laugh!!!The girl guide have more battle experience!
@USExceptionalism Yeh i live in nazi dream world according to your delusion ......meanwhile u are really living in your dream world where everything what comes from the US is superior .
@ViciousCritique Not all but most. Thats why the ESA coesto Boeing for their Delta rockets. why Boeing airliners are the favourite among carriers( DHL and Lufthansana juts bypassed Airbus for new orders), jaguars are pwered by Ford V-8s, you have intel microprocessors on your computer, you communicate on the American created internet, why BaE and RollyRoyce Aero sapce ahve their alrgest facilities in the US, why most Sceintific minds gravitate to the US.It is a sure thing bugger boy.
Eisenhower was German, So was Olendorf, Spaatz, Nimitz, Vandenberg, and many more. Again you are quoting from a document myth created my the KKK/stormfront. You keep googling this nonsense instead of relying on facts. You are much bigger fool than I assumed. Do you reall ythink the German psotwar government even to modern times would let the deathof their cititzens go by? No read Heinz Nawratil report in the Bundes Archive, Of is that a lie too?
You are quite the lair and instigator Less than 0.15 of German PoWs died at American hands.SEE Niall Ferguson, "Prisoner Taking and Prisoner Killing in the Age of Total War: Towards a Political Economy of Military Defeat" War in History 2004 11 (2) 148–192 pg. 189, (footnote, referenced to: Heinz Nawratil, Die deutschen Nachkriegsverluste unter Vertriebenen, Gefangenen und Verschleppter: mit einer Übersicht über die europäischen Nachkriegsverluste (Munich and Berlin, 1988), pp. 36f
You made your first statment in relation to harred toward Obama. There were two periods of KKK, from rifht after the US Cvili War and in the 1920's. The altter organisation was anti Papist and Semitic, more so tahn Negrophobic and unlike the nazi party was not able to seize control of the government or seriously influnece national policy.
As for the KKK. That organisation has dwindled to only 5000-8000 in teh USA. Less than actually exist internalinally. Their former US leader, David Duke is now an Austrian resident. The KKK has no effect on national elections
The KKK align them selves with the neo nazi movement. BTW a majority of whties elected Obama, DeutschAmerikaner being the largest group with 51 million
Sources include the book Spearhead in the West (1945 version); the book Death Traps by Belton Cooper; and the book Another River, Another Town and personal writings by John P. Irwin as well as the 3rdAD Archive, adn website realte the destructio of the King Tiger by the Super Pershing.
US National Archive, Washington, DC is where the Aberdeen Proving Grounds historical data is kept, its frree to view by ingrates and foreighners.
The A4 miissle was taken directly from Prof Goodard;s work. Von Braun admited so in his memoirs, Whittle perfected the Jet Engine and the Glosceter Meteror and Bell Airacomet both predated the ME 262. that was rushed into service. Ironnicaly a flight of black pilots encountered 10 shooting down 6 and damaging 2 without a loss.
@fallschirmjager0000 Metero sjot dowm several V-1. read Von Brans diary and notes at the Marshall,Space Flight Centre. You regime and leader ahd long stated Blacks to be inferior ye thse so called untermensch sot down your best and NEVER lost a bomber.
@fallschirmjager0000 The V2 was wildy in acuarate and was more a terror weapon.
Blacks fought in all ranks form private soldier to General in the USArm, not so the teh SS or Werhmact. My nacestors and 600,000 more whites died freeing the blacks and retsoring the union. That was over 400000more than liberating Europe. How many nazi dies liberating any peoples? Zero
@fallschirmjager0000 How can you steal a POW?Most of the rocket scientist comiited no war crimes and were just nominall party members. Acctually the CSA invented a ballistic missle, an the first submarine tos sink a surface ship.
@fallschirmjager0000 Reread I said "most". Gen Ishii of Japan was not exeecuted , so taht he might detail the data he ollected to cmbat tath buildbio weapons. Nor was he ever brought to the US SEE ^ Daughter's Eye View of Lt. Gen Ishii, Chief of Devil's Brigade
@fallschirmjager0000 But he waas the commanding general of the programme. How would we know about it if the hsotory was "removed" ? They were granted immunity so that information on there work could be garnered. You are an imbecile, as part of my NBC training as a US military officer I new moe NBC before there was a wikipaedia. I was real solider andreservist not a toy soldier.
Do some more real reserach The Eisenhauer death camps area a myth propsosed by guess who? the KKK
@fallschirmjager0000 Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are both recognized as being the co-inventors of the jet engine. Each worked separately and knew nothing of the other's work.
. Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet engine in 1936 Both emigrated to the USA, became citizens and worked for the US government.
@fallschirmjager0000 "at Elsdorf, a Pershing knocked out a Tiger I and two Panzer IVs. The Tiger was knocked out at 900 yd (820 m) with the 90-mm HVAP T30E16 ammunition. Another Tiger I was knocked out by a Pershing during the fighting around Cologne." That is from Wikipedia, I understand it is not always reliable, but I do know myself that Pershings KO'd some Tigers and Panthers.
@fallschirmjager0000 Fired 3 rounds at 90m distance the only penetration being a shot to to bow mg port. The crew was able to back away and it was back in service in less than 2weeks time. The tiger was destroyed by other tanks in the group. The Super Pershing destroyed an Aufs B tiger at Dessau.
@fallschirmjager0000 You are such a impudent fool. The Super Pershing crewed by Sgt Belton had an additional 6 cm of armour wielded on the sides (look at the pictures) Cooper described how, 3AD maintenance crew added seven tons of additional armor to the Super Pershing, "We realized that we had a weapon," Cooper writes, "that could blast the hell out of even the most powerful German Mark VI Tiger." You read the entire report ( btw the engagement was closed to distance of 548m, FOOL)
@fallschirmjager0000 No you fail fake para 8 cm of flat plate went to the mantlet (normally 112mm) tapering at a 30 degree angle to 6cm on the sides. The 71 calibre, .8 could penetrate 20cm of flat plate Krupp RHS strictly inferior to the same thickness of Mayvlet or Bethelem STS. The first blow was deflected. The KT destoyed You man up but you have no bollocks. Sorry little nazi eunuch
@USExceptionalism Further the Aberdeen Proving Ground test saw that the 8.8 cm calibre71 gun could only penetrate 203 mm of American Armour steel at 100m., 178.6 at 600m, Down to 160mm at 1000m. Now 112+80=192
@USExceptionalism that may be, but what you've stated is that the 88L/71 could penetrate roughly 190mm at 500m, that is still proving your point wrong, the Pershings turret could not have survived the impact.
@fallschirmjager0000 Can you READ? I said the Aberdeen Proving Ground got the result of rougly 179 mm of penetration at 600m. You came up with the stupid numbers Hitler's lackeys.
@USExceptionalism yes I can read, you said 179mm at 600m, but I have changed this to meet the distance of the engagement which was as you said at 500m, so roughly the 88l/71 can penetrate 190mm of 'american armour' at 500m. your quite retarded and stuborn, accept you have lost. The King Tiger could not have hit the super pershing or there would be no super pershing left. the penetration tables dont match the story = your wrong and i'm right.
@fallschirmjager0000 Idiot +112.5mm that alread on the tank. If you look at the SuperPershing when it as at the REPLEDEPOT afterward you cans see thedamage to the applique bu nt the original armour.
omg your desperate to prove your stupid argument. 6cm or 60mm of additional armour plus the 112.5 on the tank = 172.5 so clealry your a retard if you can't see that the 88l/71 can penetrate 217mm of armour at 500m. 217mm is thicker than 172.5mm I can tell by your name 'usexceptionalism' that you like to prove america was the best at everything. well too bad the Germans were the most advanced army in the world at the time, you want prove one of your tanks destroyed the KT, oh well it didnt.
@fallschirmjager0000 FOOL can you read at all> I said 8cm to the mantlet tapering ata 30 degress to 6cm on the side. The KT 's gun could oly penetrate 179 mm at 600m. The most "advance" army in the world took 4 time the casulties in the West and was defeated. Come over here and American science clone you a pair of bollocks and teach you to read dum head.
@USExceptionalism yes you said 6cm at the sides which is what i'm talking about. so your maths doesnt add up. no actually the 88l/71 could penetrate 200mm of armour at 600 using apcr rounds. Again your wrong. Yes the most advanced army, its a generally accepted fact. The americans and commonwealth only fought 25% of the Germans military strength, 75% of the German force was on the eastern front. it still took you and the rest of the world 6 yrs to defeat them. learn to do maths fucktard
@fallschirmjager0000 Fool the stupid nazis could not produce a sinble aircraft carrier, heavy bomber, or modern capital ship, used animal powered artillery caissons and bolt action rifles was the most advanced? Do you realise Germany encountered 0% of the USMC, 20% of the USN, and and less the half of the US army Strength? (never mind they only fogut Germany for 3 years)Infact the Wemacht and SS fared better when they fought the USSR. They were fools led by a mad man that you worship.
the Germans didnt need to produce and aircraft carrier because they are not surrounded by sea, so have no need for a large surface fleet. Bismarck and Tirpitz were both modern battleships. They were the first to develop and use jet engines on war, they had the best tanks, they invented and used the first assult rifles and recoiless rifles, they made the first balistic missiles, they were used night vision on their tanks and assault rifles, your own army has copied their helmets....
your army today takes its designs from German machines, your army today developed its squad tactics on the Germans, your armys squad machine guns like the M60 are developed from the Mg42 and Fg42, both German machine guns. america ww2 army. used simple garand rifle compared with Germanys stg44, Fg42, G43 rifles. Germany developed the fastest firing and most reliable machine gun the Mg42, considered the best of the war. Also you obviosly failed badly to prove the super pershing killed the KT
@USExceptionalism yes you also had the commonwealth nations fighting alongside you that included britain and canada, all three of those countries were only fighting 25% of Germans military strength, not even their best divisions either, mostly ostruppen especially in Normandy.
@fallschirmjager0000 Yeah just you nazi had the Imperial Japanese empire, and Italy along with the aid of many "neutrals" like Sweden. Canada and Austraila combined had 1/10 the man power of Japan. I was not until after1944 the GB and US even had a numerical superioirty in Western Europe. The US fought literally with its right hand tied. Be a man for once an admit your vaunted Reich was defeated by superior science, resources, industrial capacity. Stop the loosers whine
oh yeah italy were really good....not. Japan didnt fight in europe and nor did the Germans fight in the pacific so eachothers help didnt count for anything, you were still only fighting 25% of Germanys military strength. if anything it was the western allies that had help from neutrals including resistance groups in all occupied countries.I admit they were defeated, yes by the industrial might of russia and the US but the Germans material and technology was always superior, thats my whole point.
@fallschirmjager0000 YEAH FOOL but most of the USN, USAAF, all of the USMC did fight in the Pacific. Your Nazis make excuse after excuse. There was never an attack my B-29's on Germany, no bat missle, attacks on Nazi shipping by air or submarine and no atomic attacks. You got off very light. Had you face the full wrathof theUS there would be no Germany. Thank your demigod hilter you were spared
@fallschirmjager0000 Lies you speak. The USSR was kept afloat by the USA. The impotent Luftwaffe could not even build a plane to strike Continental America; there was no navy. marines or even landing craft . How can you wage a transOceanic War againt a maritime power?Ask any German "ace" if he did not feel the fury of the USAAF after bein an ace shooting down biplanes. HAd you pukes faced just 50% of the US Military game over '42. Again be glad we let you survive.
@fallschirmjager0000 You are showing more and more of your ignorance. You ara a compleat fool :
The USA supplied the USSR with 6,430 planes, 3,734 tanks, 104 ships and boats, 210,000 autos, 3,000 anti-aircraft guns, 245,000 field telephones, gasoline, aluminum, copper, zinc, steel and five million tons of food. This was enough to feed an army of 12 million every day of the war. Andrew Gregorovich USSR
By 1943 the puny pitiful Kreigsmarine has mortality rate higher than any WWII force
@fallschirmjager0000 Further fool, the $31 Billion, out of the $51 billion total, that the UK "received", was counter balanced by lease of British bases, all over the commonwealth. which amounted to nearly $8 Billion. Which means Britian got less than half of American Lend Lease, SEE
Weeks, Albert L. Russia's Life-Saver: Lend-Lease Aid to the U.S.S.R. in World War II, pg. 24
@fallschirmjager0000 Yes and Comrade Andrew Gregorovich's figures are wrong and yours are right (not) And Prof Albert Weeks lied too when he wrote his account, only a semi literate fake para re enactor knows the truth. Walter Cristie did not design the suspension and drive train for the T-34. Bettemham steel did not shwo them how to anneal the armour,. Get that dik out your asshole and maybe you can stop talking shit
@fallschirmjager0000 You are too funny now. Our professors who win the majoirty of the Nobles are fucktards?I am repeating a published account with reference and you expcect us to believe your made up lies? Yeah and Hitler is alive in your hosue whilst you two plan a 4th Reich.Get taht dik out your mouth boy
@fallschirmjager0000 Stupid Liar to the end. The US fought the Germans for 3 years and 5 months. In fact in 1942 they first fought the Vichy French who were allied with Hitler. Why don't you tell this shit you talk to Sgt Irwin, who destoryed the KT in the Super Pershing. Go ahead and call him a lie and get sued.
@fallschirmjager0000 Liable and slander are international crimes fool. The modern Bundeswehr is an international joke. Waht hurts is that this once noble ally has not even got a fit army anymore.I have heard the flustration of many of your officers. And you play at reenactment.
@fallschirmjager0000 Yet it is. I have personaly observed it and its personel. The Abrams tank came out of teh MBT70 which was to ahve beena co project with Germany. They both went on separately. Its your own Reinhold Robbe taht characterised the German amry as fat, and inept, with over 40% unfit. Most That i saw could not finish a 10 k run which EVERY meember of my unit amle ad feamle, combat and support finished.
@fallschirmjager0000 Really now how many fighter planes have they sold? bombers? nuclear submarines?blaisstid missles? The smalll arms are decent and Leo II for second tier nations. The finest fighting force in history the USMC is larger than the UK Royal Army. Our recrutiment goals ahve been met 7 years in a row for combat troops even though standards are higher. As to the KT debacle on our part, everything is your opinion based on NO cited or verifiabe source.
@fallschirmjager0000 Yes in you on little toysoldier, CoH video game world. Never said I was always right but I don't ignore the truth like you and make it up as I go toy boy
@USExceptionalism Only "evidence" of KT vs SP is 3Ad(?) website , there isnt KT number , no photos of that clash like happened with" Fireball" Pershing vs Tiger , even crew members of the SP wasnt 100% sure it was KT . There was book about this i will try check for it and tell u author and the name.
@fallschirmjager0000 No because it did not. And youa re yet to show your socalled "penetration table". And you dear fool changed the topic by giving excuse why your nazi basterd lost. Quit being a good nazi and sow me the superior nazi bomber, ship, shpi building infantry rifle, prodcuction methods, steel, etc. What ws the last aircraft you produced? next you will be telling me nazi "science" has ressurected your leader, god Adolph
@USExceptionalism why do you keep changing your facts, first you say the engagement took place at 500m now your obsesed with 600m. the engagement took place at 500m, the King Tiger can penetrate 217mm at that distance.
@USExceptionalism take a look at the 88mmL/71 penetration tables, they state that in both training and in combat the gun had a 100% hit ratio and could penetrate 217mm of amour at 500m laid back at 30 degrees to the vertical when using PzGr 40/43 APCR rounds.
@fallschirmjager0000 Already looked at the real tables. Where are your fictional ones? Remember the numbers supplied to Hitler were not accurate. Why can't you just admit, that a weapon cobbled together in days by American mechanics including the Jews you loathe so much completey destoyed the best that German egnieering could produce in years?
@USExceptionalism lol 'real' tables. where are these 'real' tables. you probably only accept american sources like your 'real' penetration table because they come from the US aberdeen proving grounds. My fact based tables are found in Ospreys King Tiger textbook by Hilary Doyle and Tom Jentz. Why would I loath Jews?
You are desperate, dont be thinking just because I proved your ego wrong about your so called super pershing failing to destroy a King Tiger, that does not mean I am a Nazi.
On 25 February A Pershing assigned to F Company 33rd Armd. Reg. was "knocked out" by a Tiger from about 90m.. The surviving crew backed away, abandoning the tank. . This tank was repaired, returning to service on 4 March 45 The14th Armored Battalion A Company lost one Pershing when it was struck by heavy artillery fire on 1 March 45. This tank was subsequently repaired and returned to service on 7 March. Those are the only two "losses", well sort of Pershings . .
@USExceptionalism funny that, because Pershings first arrived in Europe in January 1945, the time the Ardennes campaign was still at its height. Actaully the Tiger one knocked out the Pershing in the Ardennes, but got stuck itself and was abandoned. I'm refering to a photo from the book 'Tiger One on the Western Front'
@fallschirmjager0000 The tiger was very unrealiable So its kind of like toyota and cadillac. People love driving cadillacs but everyone buys a toyota.
@meronmotors that was only really true in the early war period, after this the Tiger was upgraded with a maybach hl230 petrol with 750hp so it was better than it had been. but yes good point
@fallschirmjager0000 I love it the tiger, probably my favorite tank. What you said is true, however in the beggening is when they really needed it. The eastern front the advance on stalingrad and the oil fields. It didnt matter how good it was in the retreat back to berlin. They released it too soon, even though it was 3 months too late
@meronmotors well they did rush it into production 4 months earlier than planned, it was an appauling failure in its first action much like the Panther was at Kursk. But it certainly helped to stem the tidal wave of armour and allowed it to hold on just a bit longer. But in comparison to the Pershing the Tiger is the more successful tank. It saw more action, actions that had large impacts during the war. the Pershing however cannot be said to have made any effect, only 20 saw action in the end
@jigglypiggly the crew were inside the tank and were guarding a roadblock. The Tiger fired 3 shots, one of which penetrated through the coaxial mg hole and killed everyone inside the turret except the commander.
Germans were having much better weapons than the M26 , like the Königs Tiger or maus. But Allies were having muuuuuuuch more units, and today Germany is building the M1 Abrams for US.
@harentrois its a fact! All the stuff America came up with after the war and today is stolen from the Germans! Dont be so ignorant and read it youself on the internet!
that sound 0.o fuck yeah =P

The US should have built a couple thousand fewer Shermans and instead built a couple thousand more of these. It was the best US design to see service. Had they installed the Caterpillar diesel that was tested in the Sherman it would have been a very safe and capable machine and not underpowered. There is a really good recent book called "Death Traps" by a tank maintenance officer in WWII. He had positive and negative comments on the US stuff and German stuff. All of them had their limits.
kblackav8or 1 month ago
what a beast...If only they thought of this as soon as they first saw the German tanks...A lot of good men wouldn't have burned to death in those horrid Shermans.
xCh34pShOtx 3 months ago
and before people say no the pershing was a heavy when it was first built it was pictured by the americans as their first heavy but by the true technical terms of the tank weight class it fell under the heavy class and was considered a medium
direwolf83 4 months ago
the rare firefly sherman was much more deadlier than the american counterparts. the british mounted their antitank guns on the sherman and turned it into the firefly but the pershing was nowhere close to the supoosed american tiger that guy said it was its only a medium with a 90 mm gun. the first true american heavy the m6 only had the 90mm they had blueprints for the t29 which had the first true heavy gun the 105mm.but this never truly hit the factory floor
direwolf83 4 months ago
@direwolf83 And our 76mm was easier to produce, and could kill Panthers at 1,400 to 1,600 meters. Our tanks also didn't have their ammunition exposed and were not nicknamed Tommy Cookers. Get your facts straight! Also, the Tiger was inferior to the M-26, you dumb-wit. M-26s/M4A4E8s had a field day with Russian/German equivalents. So, please. Mind keeping your grammar-less mouth shut?
Tyco200 4 months ago
@Tyco200 first of all i didnt say the m26 was inferior to the tiger at all i said the pershing was not an actual heavy it was a medium and the firefly which was a british modified sherman was superior to the sherman. i was actually talking about the first actual heavies that might have hit the ww2 battlefields which would have been the m6 and t29. but it doesnt matter your just another fuckin troll so stfu and move on
direwolf83 4 months ago
@Tyco200 Hah, M-26 was compatible withnothing but t-34/85 (the t-44 was FAR superior) and panther (beside the fact, that the operational range, speed, engine power was simply pathetic- more or less...But not with IS series of tanks or Tigers! Knocking out one or two tigers within 1000 yards was not a problem even for a firefly...
Shchetchynianin 4 months ago
@Shchetchynianin No other medium tank (it's classified as a heavy but was designed as a medium; it just had a shitty engine) was comparable with the M-26 Pershing except the Panther, which was inferior.
redreaper2020 3 months ago
@redreaper2020 oh come on! I just listed arguments for superiority of panther. Which is a predecessor of modern western MBTs, not m-26...As I said - M-26 had far inferior speed, range, engine power - not to mention the canon itself...
Shchetchynianin 3 months ago
@Shchetchynianin The pershing used a shitty engine--when we stuck a decent engine in it, it became the M-46. It had also better frontal armor, it had respectable speed, and didn't have a final drive, track, and transmission that broke the fuck down every 250km or jammed up solid when hit by even mg fire.
As for the gun, the 75mm would usually penetrate the frontal armor, of a T-34/85. The Pershing's 90mm went through the front of a T-34/85, through the crew, engine, bulkhead, and OUT THE BACK!
redreaper2020 3 months ago
@Shchetchynianin The 90mm was far superior to the 75 in optics set, range, power, and accuracy. The Panther was very tall, overengineered, and unreliable. It was a good tank, yes, but it wasn't as good as some people say.
redreaper2020 3 months ago
@redreaper2020 Exactly. The panther tank is VERY overrated. The front armor wassent that great against the 17PDR and 90mm. The side armor was very thin, and the tall height.. The panther also had a very bad safety record in the wehrmacht, a very high chance of catching fire or ammo cookoff's
Also the panther had TERRIBLE reliability
In panther devisions amongst non rookie tank crews, there was a saying. "It takes 4 panthers to kill 1 sherman. 3 Broke down on the way and 1 to take the shot"
F4Wildcat 3 months ago
@redreaper2020 The overall design is good of the panther. However the Panther was supposed to have a turbine engine and a 88mm in 1945/1946 making it far superior then any allied tanks. Not just that the upcoming Panther 2 which was going to be mass produced already in 1944 would be equipped with a 88mm or a 105mm cannon. Also would be using a turbine engine and it would be heavier armored.
SMGJohn 4 weeks ago
@SMGJohn with the fuel efficiency of early turbines, and the German fuel situation, plus the operational demands of a tank and the fact that most tanks were taken out by air power, that'd actually help the allies, not hurt them.
redreaper2020 4 weeks ago
@redreaper2020 This would happen if the industry wasn't crippled. The Germans would have the upper air superiority too. Because of jet fighters
SMGJohn 3 weeks ago

StiviGun1 6 months ago
@StiviGun1 T-20 isn't real
bearsfan97 6 months ago
@bearsfan97 There were many prototypes built during WW2. None of them was accepted by the military commanders on the ground. These tanks were available from the year 1942. They were more advanced than the Sherman and they should've replaced the Shermans. The M26 Pershing is the culmination of the T-20 tanks development. But there were other models from the T-20 series that should've been adopted much sooner to replace the Sherman which, in many generals' words, was a death trap for its crews.
StiviGun1 6 months ago
@StiviGun1 Dont tell me the truth ! its hurts to know are Shermans were just pill box on tracks with low vellocity 75. The better high Vellocity 76mm even up the odds a little better and could knock out panthers at around I believe 800 yards. Frontal. The round itself wasnt much improved, just steel slug traveling much faster.
GalaticSpaceHero 5 months ago
@GalaticSpaceHero Well, the truth is the Sherman really wasn't suited for the type of warfare that was going on during WW2. It was designed for a flawed doctrine that said tanks shouldn't fight other tanks which was a flawed doctrine.
As for that 76 mm gun, it was a good gun, but more powerful guns could've been mounted on the T-20 tanks. 75 mm autocannons were also tested on T-20 tanks. 90 mm or even higher caliber guns could've also been mounted on those tanks.

USExceptionalism 6 months ago
@0willsy01 I can't make up my mind as to wether you are simply flame baiting or are a white supremacist seeking to establish some moral equivalence and thereby resurecting the political acceptability of facism. The numbers you are citing contradict each other. You say that the majority of 6 million dead Germans were civillians. you then say that the Russians killed 16-19 million. Official German sources record the majority (by a factor of about 5-1) of German casualties being military.
craigtube85 7 months ago
@0willsy01 With regard to the figure of 19 million, I have never come across this figure and it appears completely ludicrous. Official German sources cite 942,000 German civillian deaths during the war. It is true that many died during the forced expulsion of German populations from Eastern Europe and estimates vary between 500,000 and 2.5 million (with the lower figure being more commonly accepted). While this is an undeniable tragedy, these deaths had nothing to do with Eisenhhower.
craigtube85 7 months ago
@0willsy01 However, to put these deaths into context, Ruedeiger Overmans of the German Office of Military History puts the number of deaths due to all causes of German PoWs held by Americans at 56,000 out of a totall of about 5 million. In other words, 1 per cent. Of course, even this figure would appear to be unacceptably high but it must be remembered that much of Europe had been devastated by war and the resources required to care for its population were enormous.
craigtube85 7 months ago
@craigtube85 Hardly. The holocaust is an event massively documented and supported by countless witness statements. The allegations that Eisenhower deliberatley starved German prisoners of war, resulting in millions dying, are ridiculed by mainstream historians and contradict the majority of anecdotal evidence from former German PoWs. It is true that their were many deaths in the prisoner of war camps set up by the (western) allies.
craigtube85 7 months ago
@0willsy01 Sorry mate, no such thing as 'Eisenhower death camps'. The book 'Other Losses' on which this claim is based was written by a novelist with no previous experience of historical study. This book has been trashed by legions of serious historians, inlcuding German ones. There were massive problems with feeding the German population as a whole (not just the POWs) and Europe for that matter in the aftermath of WW2. Britain for example, still had rationing in force until 1949.

USExceptionalism 8 months ago
omg your desperate to prove your stupid argument. 6cm or 60mm of additional armour plus the 112.5 on the tank = 172.5 so clealry your a retard if you can't see that the 88l/71 can penetrate 217mm of armour at 500m. 217mm is thicker than 172.5mm I can tell by your name 'usexceptionalism' that you like to prove america was the best at everything. well too bad the Germans were the most advanced army in the world at the time, you want prove one of your tanks destroyed the KT, oh well it didnt.
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 FOOL can you read at all> I said 8cm to the mantlet tapering ata 30 degress to 6cm on the side. The KT 's gun could oly penetrate 179 mm at 600m. The most "advance" army in the world took 4 time the casulties in the West and was defeated. Come over here and American science clone you a pair of bollocks and teach you to read dum head.
USExceptionalism 8 months ago
@USExceptionalism yes you said 6cm at the sides which is what i'm talking about. so your maths doesnt add up. no actually the 88l/71 could penetrate 200mm of armour at 600 using apcr rounds. Again your wrong. Yes the most advanced army, its a generally accepted fact. The americans and commonwealth only fought 25% of the Germans military strength, 75% of the German force was on the eastern front. it still took you and the rest of the world 6 yrs to defeat them. learn to do maths fucktard
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 Fool the stupid nazis could not produce a sinble aircraft carrier, heavy bomber, or modern capital ship, used animal powered artillery caissons and bolt action rifles was the most advanced? Do you realise Germany encountered 0% of the USMC, 20% of the USN, and and less the half of the US army Strength? (never mind they only fogut Germany for 3 years)Infact the Wemacht and SS fared better when they fought the USSR. They were fools led by a mad man that you worship.
USExceptionalism 8 months ago
the Germans didnt need to produce and aircraft carrier because they are not surrounded by sea, so have no need for a large surface fleet. Bismarck and Tirpitz were both modern battleships. They were the first to develop and use jet engines on war, they had the best tanks, they invented and used the first assult rifles and recoiless rifles, they made the first balistic missiles, they were used night vision on their tanks and assault rifles, your own army has copied their helmets....
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
your army today takes its designs from German machines, your army today developed its squad tactics on the Germans, your armys squad machine guns like the M60 are developed from the Mg42 and Fg42, both German machine guns. america ww2 army. used simple garand rifle compared with Germanys stg44, Fg42, G43 rifles. Germany developed the fastest firing and most reliable machine gun the Mg42, considered the best of the war. Also you obviosly failed badly to prove the super pershing killed the KT
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@USExceptionalism yes you also had the commonwealth nations fighting alongside you that included britain and canada, all three of those countries were only fighting 25% of Germans military strength, not even their best divisions either, mostly ostruppen especially in Normandy.
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 Yeah just you nazi had the Imperial Japanese empire, and Italy along with the aid of many "neutrals" like Sweden. Canada and Austraila combined had 1/10 the man power of Japan. I was not until after1944 the GB and US even had a numerical superioirty in Western Europe. The US fought literally with its right hand tied. Be a man for once an admit your vaunted Reich was defeated by superior science, resources, industrial capacity. Stop the loosers whine
USExceptionalism 8 months ago
oh yeah italy were really good....not. Japan didnt fight in europe and nor did the Germans fight in the pacific so eachothers help didnt count for anything, you were still only fighting 25% of Germanys military strength. if anything it was the western allies that had help from neutrals including resistance groups in all occupied countries.I admit they were defeated, yes by the industrial might of russia and the US but the Germans material and technology was always superior, thats my whole point.
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 YEAH FOOL but most of the USN, USAAF, all of the USMC did fight in the Pacific. Your Nazis make excuse after excuse. There was never an attack my B-29's on Germany, no bat missle, attacks on Nazi shipping by air or submarine and no atomic attacks. You got off very light.

USExceptionalism 8 months ago
@USExceptionalism why do you keep changing your facts, first you say the engagement took place at 500m now your obsesed with 600m. the engagement took place at 500m, the King Tiger can penetrate 217mm at that distance.
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@USExceptionalism take a look at the 88mmL/71 penetration tables, they state that in both training and in combat the gun had a 100% hit ratio and could penetrate 217mm of amour at 500m laid back at 30 degrees to the vertical when using PzGr 40/43 APCR rounds.
fallschirmjager0000 8 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 Already looked at the real tables. Where are your fictional ones? Remember the numbers supplied to Hitler were not accurate. Why can't you just admit, that a weapon cobbled together in days by American mechanics including the Jews you loathe so much completey destoyed the best that German egnieering could produce in years?
USExceptionalism 8 months ago

Those are the only two "losses", well sort of Pershings . .

@fallschirmjager0000 Big Lie. There were no Pershings in the Ardenne. But at least one tiger a and one b was destroyed by a Pershing
USExceptionalism 8 months ago
@USExceptionalism funny that, because Pershings first arrived in Europe in January 1945, the time the Ardennes campaign was still at its height. Actaully the Tiger one knocked out the Pershing in the Ardennes, but got stuck itself and was abandoned. I'm refering to a photo from the book 'Tiger One on the Western Front'

@fallschirmjager0000 They weren't actually fielded until later Feb. No Pershing fogut in the Ardenne

meronmotors 9 months ago
@meronmotors that was only really true in the early war period, after this the Tiger was upgraded with a maybach hl230 petrol with 750hp so it was better than it had been. but yes good point
fallschirmjager0000 9 months ago
@fallschirmjager0000 I love it the tiger, probably my favorite tank. What you said is true, however in the beggening is when they really needed it. The eastern front the advance on stalingrad and the oil fields. It didnt matter how good it was in the retreat back to berlin. They released it too soon, even though it was 3 months too late
meronmotors 9 months ago
@meronmotors well they did rush it into production 4 months earlier than planned, it was an appauling failure in its first action much like the Panther was at Kursk. But it certainly helped to stem the tidal wave of armour and allowed it to hold on just a bit longer. But in comparison to the Pershing the Tiger is the more successful tank. It saw more action, actions that had large impacts during the war. the Pershing however cannot be said to have made any effect, only 20 saw action in the end
