lol your videos are always entertaining and educational. I am sure you heard this before but you resemble Will Ferrel and actually sound like him a little bit also. Good luck on your instructor of the year nominee and keep bringing these great videos. Thanks
Shawn, been watching your videos for a few years. This is my favorite video. You have helped my game soooooo much! Down to about a 7 and getting better every day. Excellent video! Your lessons were always good, but over the years you have become even a better instructor. Do you realize this?
@Theclassiccarnut I do every day! This is why I can't wait to get up tomorrow morning and learn another great thing from one of my students and pass it on to you guys! Thank you for the comment and kind words; Shawn
i tend to have my thumb on the right side of the shaft. Upon impact if i put my right thumb over my left thumb the club face moves slightly and opens up..
I've started golf for a month or so. Without any coaching just learning for your videos. Just recently I'm facing a pain under my left shoulder blade im a right-hander. What is the common mistake that causes this sort of injury ? Trying to trace back what I'm doing wrong..
One query I have that's been bothering me is the grip. For my irons I grip it like everyone does right thumb overlapping the left thumb. But for my driver I can't seem to hit it correctly if I do that I tend to h

I think this is what my problem may very well be in my golf swing. I feel my hips dont clear in time and i become flippy through impact which in turn make me feel very inconsistant and frustrated. Take a look at my golf swing guys and tell me if you agree. thanks.
Hi shawn, many thanks for the no bull info. What i find difficult about the swing is from the arms falling and keeping the lag; how to get my wrists into the release position. I tend to keep my wrist facing away from me and cut across the ball instead of releasing properly? Any thoughts, drills, magic chants. ANYTHING!!! Please help
When doing that PMD at 1:43 to 1:50 coming back from the follow through to the backswing position, the club does not bottom out as well as it does in the same place when coming down from the back swing to follow through. Wonder what could be causing that...manipulation or posture(tush line) or not giving up control or arms crashing?
@mjs0039 many students struggle with this at first; the key is to feel the same snap at 8:00 O'clock that you feel from the follow through at 4:00; when you let the swing go to the finish, make sure you let the club head re-hinge the wrists in the follow through or else it will not work coming back; Shawn
Thanks for the videos, when are you coming to Ireland? :)
On the extension of the arms towards the target..
I have deep divots sometimes 2-3 inches behind the ball. I am careful to put my sternum notch just in front of the ball. I was of the impression that this was the lowest point for the club head to reach. How does that work when the hands are well ahead of the ball before impact and then the full extension of the arm-club unit is forward of the ball position?
@davidskerr1 Hi Dave! Thanks for the comment and kind words! You can come and ask the question on our forum too...:) In the meantime, I do have a few videos to help with this vision; see "hammer through; shawn clement", "fishing and golf; shawn clement", "arm leverage; shawn clement", "loaded arms; shawn clement" and that is a good start; al the best! Shawn
Mr Clement, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for the WEALTH of information you provide for free here on youtube and how much you have helped me in the past year or so. Tied my best round ever today with a 78 in competition, won a $65 gift certificate and $43 in cash for a skin and closest to pin on a par 3. You are an inspiration and a blessing to all!!! I look forward to the day when I meet you in person
that's how I used to setup to the ball.. 0:46 swing swing swing.. then move up to the ball :) great results too
of course you're #1 Shawn.. If I can learn from your video's.. anyone can (^_^) I can honestly you are the only person that has helped me improve my golf..
The feel of gravity on the arm club unit means no arm manipulation! Let it fall. The feel of gravity is the tracking of the arm club to the target, not the ball.
One point I would like to make is to make sure the bottom of the arc is in front of the ball. The divot is made after contact!
I haven't watched part 2 yet, and I am so stoked that all the winter drills Shawn gave me to do are in this video and they actually work - as long as I don't think about what I'm doing and let the Gravity Union (I like that) do its job. Now, on to part 2! Thanks so much Shawn.

I only trust one golf instructor, no prize for guessing the right answer !!
You make it sounds so simple and in way even a 10 year old boy could understand.
