I think this whole dance was about loss. How we try to hold onto whatever has been taken from us, and that pursuit of what we've lost leads us into madness. As demonstrated by that creepy ass ending with the doll coming to life and looking like its ready to escape. Like it's telling her to let go.

This performance is quite impressive.

It is deep with an "everyday matter" . Maternal love, childbirth, mother-child bonding, illness...

The face expressions remind me of anime cartoons...:p Even though the dancer has got potential due to her flexibility I believe that the overuse of that talent ruined the act for me. It was loquacious at most parts and it hurt my eye.

I think that was stunning, not contortionistic at all. Her expression was beautiful, and the coreography was stunning. I believe that if she has the flexibility, why not show it off! this dance has great moves, the dancer gives justice to the moves but there is one thing that ruined the dance, its almost perfect, but the expression of this dancer is not that powerful, a dancer must have a very powerful feeling about her dance. she must not think that she is dancing, she must feel that she is the character that is dancing.

while I agree with you, one thing about traditional Chinese dance is that bright smile that to Westerners looks a bit forced. And traditional styles find their way into contemporary ones.

The way they interpret expression might take a bit of getting used to.
