  • I was born in Poroszló, and I grew up there. It was interesting to see how my birthplace looks through a foreigner's eyes.

Thanks for sharing, and greetings from Hungary!

  • I tell you this, if I didn't live in Poland I would love to live in Hungary.

  • 04:49 ; great wild bastards? lol

  • Arpad was actually responsible for the Magyars entering Hungary.

    Hungarians are Magyars NOT Huns.

  • Some of them are Huns, well enough. The Szekels are said to be one of several Hun tribes with the Magyars.

  • A fotók sokkal jobban jellemzik Magyarországot mint a videók!

  • congratulations five stars

    from an romanian

  • I use to live off Andresse Utc. and Heros Ter. You totally are talking as if its the wild animal kingdom. It was amazing to me that there was so much traffic in the city.

  • I don't think the middle of Budapest is the wild animal kingdom, but I was talking about my intention, now that the conference I went to was over, to go into the Hortobagyi Puszta wilderness.

  • am still hungary!

  • And when is part # 4 Coming ? Cheers Patrick

  • Not long now! I've got at least 5 parts and then a 6th on the homeward stretch through Slovakia, where I met some lovely people I wanna introduce you to.

  • Good video Dave.

BTW. I think you were talking of extinct species in the vid.

But I was wondering about the last European Buffalo, which I think were made extinct during the Russian-German artillary exchanges and fighting during WWI, in the Mazurian lake area of current Poland.

    Was this true?

  • Neither the great bustard nor the European bison are extinct. There is a growing stock of European bison, and some are even farmed for the meat, although the meat is (for me) too dry and crumbly and has an unpleasant flavour. It is free roaming in certain areas of Poland and Belarus.

  • Interesting, thanks Dave. I was relying on my memories of reading John Keegan's history of WW1, from a good bit back.

  • Even when I was a boy, which was a good deal after the war, the fate of these species was hanging in the balance. However, Europe has a lot of success stories in conservation: the golden eagle, the osprey, the alpine vulture, the lynx, the bear, the racoon dog, the moose, the mouflon - all these are species which have been hoisted back from the brink of oblivion by timely action, and there are dozens more in the world of the reptiles, fishes, invertebrates and plants.

  • Right, excellent.

You've got a bloody better awareness of flora and fauna than I could ever hope to ever have.

For some reason I've always been obsessed with cars since I was pretty much a tot.

  • I have always been fascinated with the natural world.

  • Another nice one, Davey! Now I am hungry for Hungary.

  • I'm hungry for Hungary too, Ken, and I'm mad for Magyarorszag!

  • Thanks for the nice trip through Hungary. You saved me a lot of money.

  • The idea is to encourage you to go!
