  • I Was A Teenager Growing Up In The Late 50's And Early 60s On Long Island N.Y.and listening to it on wins 1010 and wmca 570 and thought it sounded like Bobby Rydel

  • @amanda2001ism East Rockaway here, we'd hang at the neighborhood pool and hear this over the loudspeaker, the girls would dance in the sand but I had 2 left feet, still do class of 63.

  • This is one of those songs that Oldies stations in the '70s and '80s never played, like "Summertime, Summertime" by Jays with Jamie. I always loved this. I wish I had bought it.

  • The Chantones, who backed Jack Scott, also backed Jerry on ths recording.

  • strangely this song came into my mind when i woke up and it made me feel cheerful despite it raining everyday. i didn't know who sang it so looked it up and found it here. it sounds great

  • a wow song and it still is

  • This song is really good.It was released in October of the year it went to no1 and we are having some real hot weather now and its october so i cant help but think of this song.

  • One of my favorite songs.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Well here it is. June 21, 2011. The official "kick-off" day of Summer. This song was on my mind, I just had to play/ hear it "today". Great song. And one of my favorites.

  • Happy 73 birthday Jerry Keller! Long may he live and happy summertime to one and all!

  • Such a great song, brings back so many summer memories from the 50s and 60s. baseball, swimming , and girls we had crushes on. Everything was so new and inocent Miss my youth, now 64

  • @brownindian17 You miss your youth? I want to cry when I hear this song, Life seemed like a wonderful paradise then, full of wondement and adventure. Everything seemed like a new and exciting experience and just thinking of girls was an enchantment. However now ,experiences are all mundane reruns. Sorry, I forget myself....it must be the caffeine........you think????

  • He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and played the conductor in the 1970's movie "You LIght up My LIfe" with Joe Silver, Didi Conn and Michael Zaslow.

  • It's Summer again. I relive life from 50 years ago again. Thanks for the memories Jerry!

  • Lovely music !

Reminds me of beautiful days. Times revive. : )

  • when this was a hit a young Penny Summers swaggered by swinging her hips and her young nubile body enthralling my mate and i ,WE SANG

Nay i kid you not happy days

  • thumps up if you're from the same hometown as him

  • The things he sings about doing come summer really sounded good. Drive-in movies. (Remember those?) Going swimming everyday. Meeting the gang at Joe's Cafe. Really sounded fun and ideal.

  • Jerry Keller is not dead. He wrote TV jingles in the 70's.

  • great song from wonderful years gone by

  • What a voice this guy had. I think he would have been at Sinatra level had he lived.

  • @spectrum99122 He is still very much alive and in fact has his own YouTube channel -- JerryKellerOfficial

  • @texpaco Wow, you're right. Sorry Jerry, I had been mislead all these years. Sorry Jerry!!!!

  • @spectrum99122

He isn't dead. The rumors are untrue..

  • Here Comes Summer was also covered by UK's Cliff Richard in his own right - in 1960 if I am not mistaken

  • Here comes summmer...!! lol...

  • The best! Time to fall for whomever your with when this song plays! MMMMMMMM......

  • This song always takes me back to our Sunday drives and picnics in the early

60's, we'd all pile into our '57 Ford wagon and off we'd go. This song and Connie Francis singing V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N takes me back to those long ago summers

when I was little and my Brother and Sister were still in HS. It seems like these two songs were our local radio station's quintessential introduction to Summer.

  • Just reminds you of hot summers when you were at school - great sing!

  • Think I read that the British liked this more than we did back in 1959-it went to number one in England-not so here. No matter. A great record in an incredible summer of music. Thanks for sharing.

  • @qb62ndmaintbn1967 oddly it was october before this was a uk hit,at the end of summer.

  • @qb62ndmaintbn1967 Huge No.1 in the UK, 1959!

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Brings back so many great memories!!!

  • GREAT!

  • This is the only hit record that Jerry Keller had, but it was a million seller for him and has become a classic for all of us in that age group. It has a good way of starting off the Summer expectations. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

  • Thanks for posting this is my "favorite song". Love it and thank you.

  • Turn the clock back, it's November 1962, you are on the wing of the bridge of the USS Canisteo in Guantanamo Cuba and you have survived the Cuban Missle Crisis one of your buddies Mike Collier brings out his porable radio he tunes to 1190 and we hear WOWO FT Wayne IN, AND the Song is "HERE COMES SUMMER" an oldie but goodie.

Every time I hear this song, I'm back there.

  • great song

  • been lovely today...just had to play this feel good tune..

  • Chrysler used this tune for a Plymouth radio commercial in late spring 1972; all I remember of it is the closing line: "May the sun shine bright as you drive your Plymouth home."

  • My all time favorite "summer song". Thanks!

  • Agree; This took the great Summer 1959 to a new level, when you could play this at the beach and dream about the past, current, and future......LADIES!!

  • Good song, and summer is almost here.

  • One of the greatest records of the late 50s! Huge hit in the USA and here in the UK, I was just a teeanger at school when this topped the UK charts!

  • Thisn was the year stereo came to Britain.

  • Been looking for a copy of this for years to fill the vacancy in my collection of favorite oldies. Good on ya, man.

  • aka fall of 59 lol..

  • aka fall of 59 lol....

  • Love it. Never tire of listening to this song.

I like that wee fact that you put in about this tune not reaching our charts until the AUTUMN of 1959.

  • I remember when CBS-FM ( with their "101 days of summer" slogan) used to welcome the summer season with this song, and clips from other great summer tunes.

  • this song is what the doctor ordered for feeling better

  • Great channel. Keep up the good work. Thanks for keeping "Summer" alive!

  • Thank YOU for making that summer so much better for us.

  • i got the 45rpm singel on this one fantastic sound

  • fantastic summer record -makes me feel good!!

  • I absolutely LOVE this song, always have since I first heard it back in 1959. What a great line: "When we kiss it makes my flat-top curl"! All us boys had a flat-top haircut in the 50's, so we definitely identified with that! Thanks for posting it!

  • Like yesterday, and times at the beach. ...This truly became a standard, and was played every Summer, because it's timeless.

  • The ultimate song to warm your heart and create happiness in your mind. Everytime I play it I feel it!

  • A true juke box classic.

  • summer l959 at Lake Winnepesaukee NH!! great to hear it again...

  • @beagle5pup I'm 38. If you think about that song "We'll go swimming every day," that's a great way to stay in shape, stay out of trouble, and not have to spend an arm and leg.
