The fastest Caterham R500 can start from 0 to100 km/h in 2.9. So this electrical car is slower, and where is this beautiful sound of petrol (diesel) engine? What is the max range of this? 100km? 200? Try to take corners in this as fast as you can do in normal cars. And don't tall me that is the future because it's not. Petrol or Oil you can get from everything like carbon or algae...
Just picture the look on the the poor old ladys face as i hurtle round a bend and great speed as shes crossing the road .... Does she hear me coming ....? No she just gets run over and dies, i goto prison for being eco-freindly. LIKE FUCK
Electric cars are impractical, they will cost a mint to re-charge and take time also, this planet seems to have enough greif making energy as it is, be it pertolium or electricity mankind is fucked as we know it. Make a car that runs on salt water!!!!
Electro-motors can reach much more power than any gasoline or diesel engine. A small engines like football ball can put out over 50kW of power and 3 times more torque than diesel engine. Technology, man, technology, but i like SCREAMING engines :D
@Tamashaly what are you talking about? it's much easier to get high power from an electric motor than from a combustion-engine... you could have a 500hp electric motor with 1500Nm of torque, available from 1rpm and it would not be half as big and nowhere near as heavy as a 1.6l 4banger for example...
@purpleGoAhead The motor is not the problem, there's incredibly good motors out there, and due to demand for more energy efficiency, better ones being developed all the time. No, the problem with electric cars is battery weight, capacity and range. It doesn't matter how good the battery packs are, either, the weight and limited range will always be the downfall of electric cars. The general public will never accept the limitations.
@Oldbmwr100rs there are already batteries with 5 times higher volumic energy than lithium-batteries. with these batteries you could make a tesla roadster with the same range as the original but 5 times less battery weight, or the same battery weight but 5 times more range - at a much lower price than lithium too!
google for "aerogel battery" or something like that ;)
The only concern I would have is having no one hear the car. They have had issues in larger cities where people running on only electric power are accidentally hitting people (who are jay walking by the way), because they walk out into the street because they didn't hear the tire noise or the engine.
I think you guys are too fixated on the sound of the IC engine. Yeah, they have been around a long time and I love the sound of a V12 Ferrari, straight 6 Jag, or even my supercharged Miata for that matter. On the other hand time moves on and you have to keep your mind open! To me, I think the electric whine sounds pretty neat... Just like our current IC engines, I'm sure different types of electric engines will sound different. The sound of this thing reminds me of Bladerunner.
No one seems to ever notice a V12 hasn't raced in F1 since 1995 LOL.
The EV in this video is a bit noisy because their inverter frequency is low enough to be audible, better systems use a higher frequency outside the range of human hearing.
EVs like the Tesla sound like a turbine that IMHO sounds better than an ICE anyday.
Or how long does it take any retarded moron to think up a feeble twatism, typical of a 12 year old girl in a special school for fuckwits with learning difficulties.
ah shut up u old senile sac of wrinkles. The only thing u need to worry about is if ur going to make it all the way to 80 alone and angry with nobody there to change ur diapers. so go eat ur apple sauce and get used to it because u will be eating it for the rest of ur nasty worthless under achieved life.
I doubt that even extreme senility could make me a witless, ignorant and clearly un-educated retard like you.
Who taught you to spell?
It must have been your mentally defective VD raddled single mother, in whichever deprived slum-pile you were reared, as there obviously can't have been any schools there.
its the closest thing yet to an adrenaline pumping electric car, with its speed etc. but half the adrenaline of driving or being in a really fast car comes from noise. the noise of the car should match the performance. if a renault clio made that noise that would be fantastic but this doesn't fit. its like wearing a really nice suit, but then going to work as a shit shoveler.
For me very unexpected, as a genuine petrolhead, but the absence of sound, in combination with real power, is a very exiting thrill. It is like cheating everybody. Now I can say I love the sound of a powerful petrol engine as I always have, but I adore the absence of sound. Anyway, I cannot convince people, only experiencing it can.
you could hear a pin drop its so quiet you start a ferrari or lambo and armagedon blasts out of the exhuast pipes all you get out of this is the noise of a tiny rat whining because it wants its dinner. don't get me wrong though brilliant idea but until the strap a V8 soundtrack to one of them you wont see me transferring over
well for sure, nothing beats internal combustion, but these electric sports cars, while still a bit young in their development, are preformance cars of the future and very very cool. Once they have longer ranges and the ability to not get progressively weaker as their batteries die, then they will be truly amazing things
so.... a sports car where you miss out on a delicious engine note and instead get nowt but tyre roar.... if this is the future, i'm not interested. i'll stick to internal combustion thanks very much.... at least until the government make it prohibitively expensive. so next year then.
Weak as promotional material imo. Instead of showing the awesome engineering that's gone into it, we get a silent Lotus 7 clone going round corners really slowly! At least a tiny little powerslide please!:)
Half the fun of a 'sports car' is the sound... What's the point of horsepower and torque if you aren't deaf by the end of the drag strip? I'd never be caught dead in an electric car...
Strong, 272 HP is nice, torque by eletrical engine is gonna be huge, but it sounds like mixer in the kitchen. If am to live in the electric cars age, without all those gorgous sounds of 3 litre and bigger engines, than God with me. We should get rid of coal power plants in Chine, insulate our houses better if we are afraid of global warming which I find also irrelevant, not to limit our cars..
This and other all electric cars is the future and possible right now. The first steps are taken. Who will take the challenge to build the first all electric production line?

What a fantastic car - I had the opportunity to take a ride in it recently and was very impressed - lovely road handling, smooth operation and excellent acceleration.
the high pitch sound could result in serious problems if electric cars are mass-produced.

I don't think this car can reach 272 hp with an electric power but it is definitely not slow. The drive for a different fuel is getting better.

It sounds like a TV with the sound turned on mute, you only hear that high pitched irritating noise.
Reckon electric cars could have computerized sound track to make them sound Like a ICE?
