The fastest Caterham R500 can start from 0 to100 km/h in 2.9. So this electrical car is slower, and where is this beautiful sound of petrol (diesel) engine? What is the max range of this? 100km? 200? Try to take corners in this as fast as you can do in normal cars. And don't tall me that is the future because it's not. Petrol or Oil you can get from everything like carbon or algae...

Electro-motors can reach much more power than any gasoline or diesel engine. A small engines like football ball can put out over 50kW of power and 3 times more torque than diesel engine. Technology, man, technology, but i like SCREAMING engines :D

@Tamashaly what are you talking about? it's much easier to get high power from an electric motor than from a combustion-engine... you could have a 500hp electric motor with 1500Nm of torque, available from 1rpm and it would not be half as big and nowhere near as heavy as a 1.6l 4banger for example...

No, the problem with electric cars is battery weight,capacity and range. It doesn't matter how good the battery packs are,either, the weight and limited range will always be the downfall of electric cars. The general public will never accept the limitations.

@Oldbmwr100rs there are already batteries with 5 times higher volumic energy than lithium-batteries. with these batteries you could make a tesla roadster with the same range as the original but 5 times less battery weight, or the same battery weight but 5 times more range - at a much lower price than lithium too!

The only concern I would have is having no one hear the car. They have had issues in larger cities where people running on only electric power are accidentally hitting people (who are jay walking by the way), because they walk out into the street because they didn't hear the tire noise or the engine.

I think you guys are too fixated on the sound of the IC engine. Yeah, they have been around a long time and I love the sound of a V12 Ferrari, straight 6 Jag, or even my supercharged Miata for that matter. On the other hand time moves on and you have to keep your mind open! To me, I think the electric whine sounds pretty neat... Just like our current IC engines, I'm sure different types of electric engines will sound different. The sound of this thing reminds me of Bladerunner.

No one seems to ever notice a V12 hasn't raced in F1 since 1995 LOL.

The EV in this video is a bit noisy because their inverter frequency is low enough to be audible, better systems use a higher frequency outside the range of human hearing.

EVs like the Tesla sound like a turbine that IMHO sounds better than an ICE anyday.

Once they have longer ranges and the ability to not get progressively weaker as their batteries die, then they will be truly amazing things

Strong, 272 HP is nice, torque by eletrical engine is gonna be huge, but it sounds like mixer in the kitchen. If am to live in the electric cars age, without all those gorgous sounds of 3 litre and bigger engines, than God with me. We should get rid of coal power plants in Chine, insulate our houses better if we are afraid of global warming which I find also irrelevant, not to limit our cars..
