I made a Maglight mod that is based on 14.4 volts but uses high current rechargeable AA Nimh batteries.

My light is probably marginaly brighter since it is custom and uses all low resistance solid state connections.

In addition my light uses the same bulb class, but has 3 levels of brightness, making it much for useful as an actual light.

It's also nice to have a battery pack that you can replace batteries yourself with without having to buy a proprietary pack.

The "Torch" is cool also.

It is not the strongest stuff. I have flash light that is using in military (police like SWAT). We were making website for one company and instead of money they gave us few super strong flash lights. One of them (the biggest one) have 3km long reflector blast. If you point it into someone from 20 meters or less he will blind for few minutes. This is nothing for my one.

LED flashlight are he most porwerfull, (i think so ) i have 900 lumens one.

it spreads the light to the sides and lights up everything in the distance of at least 200 meters.

it doesnt burn anything because led flashlight dont have Infra-Red light (well, they do but not much) and this flashlight burns all up because it has got a lot of IR rays.
