the ac-47/dc-3 was soo overengineered and built that around 1,000 are still flying and making money for there owners. long beach ca is home to 3 dc-3's and they help supply catalina island. john levitow was here at the C-17 facility for the dedication of the C-17"spirit of john levitow" what a man. humble and friendly.
yes sir he still is flying as a mcdonnell douglas C-17 globemaster III.
Our little detachment of USAF radio types were under attack on an army outpost, Plantation, when Sgt. Levitow in Spooky 71 were overhead on that night. May he rest in peace.
Rest in peace John, your home at last from your last mission. We your Brethren that flew on the Gunships will never forget what you did that day for your fellow air crewmen. Sleep well.
Here in Colombia, this aircraft is still used to support Army troops on land and also to give close support to the national police when attacked in the villages, the only difference is that guns are not gatlin, machine guns now use .50, and also the new engine plane
gunship excellent but need to change it for something newer
I think the AC-130 is a better platform, With the high wings, they wont get in the way of the guns shooting down. Also has a larger payload capacity... meaning BIGGER and MORE guns :)
But that DC-3 Airframe is STILL in active service today in some places. I think Douglas did an OUTSTANDING job on that plane, probably the best airplane ever built in my opinion.
@robloxguggi Hey, I play Call of Duty, we're not all bad, just most of us... Haha... And those dumb little kids don't even know what an Ac-47 is, and when I tried to tell them about it they said I was making it up... So yeah I see where you're coming from with those "Call of Duty no lifes"
@TheEliteSport I play Call of Duty aswell. But that's because I like weapons, aircrafts, the military and that sort of stuff. And I just get pissed when they are so ignorant. "OMG A GOLDEN MINI UZI!!!" ... That's not a golden mini uzi. That's a golden MAC-11 or "ZOMG THAT's AN ACR!!!!111!!!!" ... No that's an FAMAS G2 .... "OMG THAT'S A M16A4!!!!" No again, that's an M16A1.
@robloxguggi Haha I just don't understand why those kids are allowed by there parents to play Call of Duty, they're so bratty they shouldn't even have a game console.
Is that the real Medal of Honor on that plane? I've never seen one. It would be a double whammy, to see the AC-47 and the MOH.

Well, it's kind of obvious it would, be. The C-47 is over 60 years old.

@insylem Yes, a DC-3 does a regular passenger run between Hay River and Yellowknife in Canada.

Nice tribute. Keep her flying! Always nice to see a non-posthumous MOH recipient.

Great video. But be warned. In about a year or so this video will get Millions of views and be spammed with Call of duty no lifes.
The AC-47 is the best gunship ever ( After AC-130 )
