the buckinghams were also famous for their recording of it and made some thousands of dollars so u can't talk trash on them cause u haven't done anything to EVEN close equivalence of them so not to be rude or anything....shut it
@lihujazz I think everybody is right here lol. Because it is a rendition by Weckl in Burning for Buddy (Tribute for the music of Buddy Rich) originally written by Zawinul. Anyhow Rush079: My son is 11. He started playing when he was 6. Did the marching band snare drum. 2 years ago started with full set. We spent lots of time to learn chips, 40 rudiments, dynamics, finger/wrist/arm control, etc. Then he started to lose interest. Now he hardly wants to play anymore. Any insight pls?
True to an extent, but the drummer handles the style more than the volume. The lead trumpet has the most control over the volume of the band, while the drummer pulls more over the rhythm's dynamics and the volume of the accented beats.
i don't know if i dig the modulations....also, it seems like everyone needs to come down quite a bit in volume.....there's that loud=intense misconception going on here.
props to the young kid playing on the drums....try laying back a bit more - just some friendly advice. :)
love the conductor! and the drummer was awesome, and the saxophone solo was absolutely brilliant, i play saxophone and drums myself and i would love to be as good as those two!!!!
.....sax solo was not brilliant. No offense to this guy, but his tone prob could be a little better and if the rythym section wasn't so damn loud, he wouldn't have to push so hard. He does try, though
This is Joe Zawinul's tune, first played by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet in a much slower tempo. Joe was Cannonball's pianist. You can find one of their performances of it here on YouTube.

You do realize this is Austrian keyboardist Zoe Zawinul's tune, which he wrote for his bandleader Cannonball Adderly, before forming Weather Report?

Took all the soul out of the song.

Rythym is way too loud. That is prob why everyone else is pushing so hard. Volume comes from the drummer and the lead trumpet.

What a horrible bunch of distorted noise. I guess that's what happens when grownups try to compete with a child. Disgraceful.

this song isnt by buddy rich - even though he does a great version. it's by Cannonball Adderly's pianist - Joe Zawinul.

Hey great version of it. 5 star
quick question who is the drummer, how old is he (because i have my own big band and we need a drummer) and when was this video recorded?
and quick comment should'nt you use an electric bass instead of a double bass?
apart from the trumpets from about 3:00 its very good.
congrats
