  • @ TheSpiritof1969-

I think you mean Gus Grissom, not Gus griffin.

  • In deep space. Any crew? Negative.

  • The sound pressure at the launching pad is 220 dB

  • What is the name of this documentary?

  • Respond to this video... ...... and the budget was no longer bottomless. I do not doubt managers within NASA did not want too much to be made public both before and after the event, they were responsible for the tragedy, but it is a quantum leap to suggest murder. Scott G started out by demanding to know the full story, that is fair enough, but I think he was egged on to shout murder by his own frustration and by people who had a lot of money to make out of a conspiricy theory.

  • @40390576

I remember the news coverage at the time. The media were extremely critical of what came to light. tools left in the works, the capsule was badly converted from unmanned to manned with wiring looms being stretched around equipment that wasn't planned to be there. The hard reality is that NASA cut corners. It was already decided to scrap the pressure hatch on later capsules but not Apollo 1. They were panicking because the end of the decade was looming fast ..... continued

  • @40390576

Something that the moon hoaxies seem to miss is that all the early astronauts were test pilots or specialists in other fields of aviation. Guss Griffin was outspoken and seemed to have the same personality as Schirra and both felt a high degree of responsibility for the wellbeing of their crews.

The 7 flight was difficult for the crew for several reasons and much was learned but none could ever be accused of not having their own integrity at all times.

  • @40390576

You are right. I checked Apollo 6 on Wikipedia and that mission had a number of problems and never really acheived its objectives. Given the problems that mission had it was a brave decision to go ahead with 8 when they did.

I looked up the 7 mission at the same time. Sad that crews career in the manned spaceflight program finished on that flight and they did not get the recognition they deserved for 41 years.

  • One of the best documentaries that Discovery Channel has come out with in a long time

  • if the moon landings were fake the USSR would probably have been the first to find out, and at the height of the cold war, they wouldn't have hesitated to blow the whistle on USA

  • How would you like to pick up your prom date pimpin one of these bad boys?

  • fake

  • @DearHJ

    your mom is fake

  • which documentary is this from?

  • Is it possible for the heat from the rockets to melt the ground? What material do they use to protect it?

  • @MOHAIRBORNE The reinforced concrete in the flame trench is lined with refactory brick

  • @MOHAIRBORNE Water.

  • @MOHAIRBORNE The flame trench, built with concrete and refractory brick, was used in both Apollo and Shuttle programs to protect the pads along with the rocket. Google launch pad 39 flame trench and launch pad 39 flame deflector for detail.

  • now what happens to the rocket if it were to abort during launch? does the booster explode or something?

  • @crucialconflict02 That tower on top is an escape rocket. In the event of an abort, that motor fires and when it's pulled the crew capsule to a safe distance, the range safety officer sends the self-destruct command to a series of linear charges placed throughout the rocket.

Fortunately this was never needed. I can't think of a sadder sight than that of a Saturn V exploding in flight.

  • finally an apollo video without that cheesy '60s documentary music :)

  • Energia better looking and more thrust? Um no! The saturn 5 is the definition of what a rocket should look like and how it should perform! That saturn 5 is the pinnacle of rocketry and pretty much the best rocket when compared to anything similar. When people think of power or successful launch vehicles or a rocket in general, the mighty Saturn 5 is what comes to mind....not ariane 5, not energia, and not the N1! As far as you people that think we didn't go to the moon, get a life!

  • @Alankpb Holocaust did happen and should happen. I never denied that..For moon landing, Its not me claiming that it was a Haux I learnt it from AMERICANS.

  • 1:57 is NASA hype/brainwashing, or you could label it just plain ignorant misinformation.

The fact is 'men' have been into (deep) space before, either on alien craft, or earth design vehicles of advanced earth civilizations from the unrecorded, distant past.

  • @generatrix999 Anyone who knows the great demands for interstellar travel would know what you are saying is rhetorical nonsense. No alien race would visit us unannounced and undetected, simply to abduct humans, and somehow after being so careful to remain hidden, leak the information out. Honestly, space-faring species would have better things to do.

  • Xbroadcaster1991 you twat

  • You think they tested all 3 million parts b/f launch?

If Saturn V flew at 99% efficiency, 40,000 parts would have had to fail.

Energia had more thrust and was better looking.

  • @generatrix999 "Energia had more thrust and was better looking."

    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......roger that

  • @generatrix999 Parts do not fail because of probability, they fail because of faults. The Saturn V was an utterly simplistic, minimalists approach to getting to the moon. Five engines in a cluster, very high reliability. By comparison, the N1 had some three dozen engines in multiple clusters; doomed to fail from the start.

  • @UndeadPizzaGuy

They had a lot of trouble getting those engines to work properly and when they did they never really understood the physics of why the minor changes in the design made a big difference. Yes the five engine set-up was reliable but it was unlikely that if one of the four outer engines failed in flight the airframe would survive the stresses

  • @TheSpiritof1969 Ah but it has survived such stresses, on Apollo 13 violent pogo oscillations made one of the engines shut off. Mission proceeded normally...for the most part.

  • @UndeadPizzaGuy

That was an unscheduled centre engine that shut down on the second stage. It had started to oscillate and shut down to prevent damage to the airframe. ( See Apollo 13 engine failure at Wikipedia)

On the first stage the centre engine was routinely shut down during flight to stop the rocket going overspeed as the fuel load decreases. The engines I referred to were the outer engines where any failure would result in violent asymetric thrust would cause destructive stresses.

  • @TheSpiritof1969 Thats what I just said?

  • @UndeadPizzaGuy

I think we were talking cross purposes. The point I was making was that the Saturn would not have survived a sudden loss of one of the four outer engines on the first stage. Depending whether such a loss took place before the scheduled centre engine shutdown it mat have been possible to shutdown the opposite engine and continue the mission.

Nasa were well aware of the possible consequences of such an engine loss and continued .........

  • @UndeadPizzaGuy

continued ..... back up plans were in place to separate the crew module without any stage separation. The launch escape tower would pull the capsule away from the rest of the rocket but in order to slow the rocket rapidly a series of explosive charges would break open the fuel tanks to lose the mass of the fuel quickly.

  • The astronaut were carried to the Moon by this rocket.

  • The US had better get on the ball and fireup the space program or we are going to be long passed on as a world super power...

  • What amazes me is that this was less than 40 years after man first flew an airplane!

  • Makes us see USA's space program from the late 60's in a new light...

  • what's the name of this song?

  • This rocket is the most amaizing thing i have ever seen....

  • @Kamikaze933 made by germany

  • gives me chills... damn....

  • Cool! Loving this monster:-)I guess it's from Discovery Channel, but do you know which program it's from exactly?

  • i love watching this on blu ray after 5 beers go the saturn 5 !!!!! fuck yeah

  • 40mis high and still accelerating and this was early, mid 60s! holy extreme controlled explosion batman!

  • i want japanese version. but i cant find it ; )

  • 160 million horsepower and still the most powerful launch vehicle brought to operational status. It could send over 50 tons to the moon! Enormous power the likes of which we have yet to see again. And with the recent cancellation of the Constellation project...who knows if we will ever have a heavy lift deep space vehicle again.

  • @ynp1978 -I agree...makes you wonder if this is as good as it gets

  • cool come to my site to see it take off but from a differant view!

  • I believe this is a Discovery Channel HD program: in the shadow of the moon? this part of the program looks familiar.

  • can anyone tell me the song?

    atleast the type of song?

    please?

  • incredible machinery the best in the aerospace

  • Fascinating...eggboy1, if you really don't believe the moon landings actually happen, what's the extent of your acceptance (belief) about other space vehicles? Do you believe satellites are faked? Ever use a GPS or get satellite TV? It takes just a bit more speed, and you can get to the moon. Not a great leap, there...

  • Thank you :)

  • what title is this movie?

  • @GEELS5

    When we left Earth

  • @GEELS5 it isnt a movie, it is a tv show called: Nasas Greatest Missions

    great series :)

  • And ill tell ya one thing ive met buzz him self and alan bean and that the saturn 5 was an incredible machine it is even taller than the statue of liberty 375feet tall

  • eggboy1 your fake

  • I remember watching every launch on TV. It was breathtaking! It seems so long ago. What a machine.

  • If anyone thinks that this launch and all the moonwalks is fake there wrong neil armstorng, buzz aldrin Apollo 11,Apollo 12 alan bean pete conrad,Apollo 13 didnt make it because of the fuel cells hydogen tanks and oxygen tanks collided and made an explosion And theres plenty more peeps who've landed on the moon and i ain't kiddin so if u think that the Apollo launchs are fake well you could go to the kennedy space center and do some research or if u still thinks it fake well your a noooob

  • oxygen tanki collided? no collision? just explosions, recoil assemblys me juli..

  • It was fake.

  • Thank you!!! Waaay too many jackasses STILL think the Apollo missions were faked!! It aggravates me to no end... literally!! Some even still bring up the "wire thoery"!!! This may sound mean but I think they should ALL be lined up and shot in the back of the head!!!

  • incredibly beautiful

  • Beautiful machine...

  • Comment removed

  • dunlrock what a sad small world you must live in

  • "I think we were all surprised at how strong that thing was" haha:)

  • Fake? Design a multi BILLION dollar rocket to do nothing? Wow, thank god you dont run a country, cause you would do that! Everything that the conspiracy theorists say about whats fake is stupid. It doesnt make sence.

  • Did you see at least one launch, where two-stage rocket saturn-v worked ? At least one, links to video plz.

  • No. I never saw a launch. But i doesnt mean anything.

  • Yeah exactly, I just watched a long program the fake theories, everything from photos, to the flag was debugged, and the explaining from the people who actually work with this stuff, totally busted these conspiracy idiots!, it was a joy to watch, those people should feel as stupid as those who argued the earth was not round, it was too big for them to accept i guess, jeaolus poeple.

  • Design a multi billion dollar rocket to win the cold war. You need to open your mind a little.

  • .. Ok. Make everyone that was involded with the program (like 500k) and tell them to keep a secret. Shit i cant even make my brother keep a secret!

  • Not everyone involved would have needed to know. The majority could've/would've been fooled along with the rest. Do you think there have never been any lies & cover-ups in world history/politics?

  • @lapierresucks They spent BILLIONS to reach Space and they did reach! However, Landing on moon is Pure hoax.

  • @xbroadcaster1991 Well, no. There are many reasons you are wrong, but I will pick one. JAXA's Kaguya probe can see every landing site, every rover track, every descent stage, every footprint, and every experiment the astronauts left behind. They match the Apollo photographs perfectly. I will remind you again, JAXA is utterly independent of both NASA and Robocosmos.

  • look how big the flame is compared to the rocket lol

  • wow thanks im using this in my ss project

  • the sat.5 is the geratist as are all the nazi desigened rockets
