It varied from about 8ft to just a couple of feet. you could easily see the reef through the water. You had to get out before low tide or it would start poking through the water.

I actually made these songs myself using midi/audio programs I haven't really given them names yet. Thanks for the props on the vid I had alot of fun making it.
Depends where you are from. Ha'atafu is generally warm but take a springsuit as the wind can get a bit chilly in the dry season (April to November). Take booties if you've never surfed a reefbreak before too!
This is an awesome video, it was an awesome trip! I dont think Ive ever hit the reef that much in my life but it was worth every smack. We gotta do a combo spearfishing/surfing trip next! or is that called NZ and Hawaii?
Moral of the story....wear reef booties, Would have been nice to see more footage of the Surf at ets. Cool place

Had a great trip there back in '97. Surfed HT's perfect all day on the last day. NZ immigration didn't know what to make of my red eyes.
