Notice how Harper twists the question, answering that "no one is suggesting Canadian soldiers have done anything wrong. " The reporter had said no such thing. He was asking about the government's cover up of the abuse of Afghan prisoners--about Canadian soldiers being forced to hand over prisoners to Afghan police & soldiers, who tortured them. IT WAS ACTUALLY CANADIAN SOLDIERS WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS, TO ANYBODY WHO WOULD LISTEN. See what a lying snake this man is. He is unfit to be the PM.
@mightymissk And it drives me crazy that reporters are so timid with Harper. I would have asked Harper about his refusal to produce documents WHICH CANADIANS HAVE A LEGAL RIGHT TO SEE, detailing his government's inertia in the face of this scandal. The torture of Afghan prisoners damages the good reputation & the morale of our soldiers overseas--and puts them in further danger. I would also have asked Harper why he smears or fires civil servants like Richard Colvin, who dare to tell the truth.
9/11 was an inside job and canadain troops in afghanistan help the CIA protect the opium fields -- now everybody please sing oh canada like brainwashed sheep !!!
I think Mr. Harper did a great interview. However, the comments within the video really turned me off. I won't watch anything else from this fool scottyross00. It's good that you included the "00" in your goofy name. It suits you.
Mr. Harper went over to see the troops and support them. He's got balls to go over there. Afghanastan is a UN led coalition, its a mess over there. Your written comments are a mess, and it shows you lack Balls. You go over there and deal with it dude, good luck!
Your copious amounts of comments within the video take so much away from it (trying to be captain obvious, or what?), and actually make YOU look like a bigger fool than Stepho here.... :S
I'm sorry Chris I think you are confused, in Canada our Constitution says our MPs have the right to see those documents. Are you suggesting MPs can't be trusted?
@ChristopherNNLL What war...oh, you mean the war of aggression begun by the USA over countries in the middle east? If 911 were truly the reason (rather than the excuse) that the USA is there, then Ben Laden would have been captured 9 years ago. If we are "at war" as you say, it's the will of the USA, not of the Canadian people who, in the majority are much prouder of our role as World peacekeepers than we are of helping in George Bush's evil holy war!
Yes it's the government responsability to protect sensitive information, and it's not a problem, the problem is thats he can't hide ANY information to the parlement. The elected deputes have the right to look at any document in the government and the problem is that these document are censured and THATS is illegal.
@ChristopherNNLL By not doing this and showing the documents Harper is it making it seem like the military is independent from the civilian leaders which is exactly what parliament is and the politicians are . They also have the power to not only declare war and sanction it but also to ask for peace . But what I mean is Harper is putting himself above parliament by not allowing them to see the documents . That only he and his government has the right to see them in his eyes .
@ChristopherNNLL Srry I meant to say that parliament and the civilian leaders are in control of the military and that it isnt independent of them . That theyre the highest level of government which means they have a right to see those documents .
Before you know it you'll have people shouting: Heil Harper! and we'll all be marching like idiots to him and his government . =/ .

This guy wouldn't know honour or integrity if they slapped him in the face. He's simply power-hungry and anybody who believes otherwise is a fool.
