  • @Savta1234 He was met by one, armed SU-15 who followed the Viggen. The Viggen pilot went up to 3000 feet and did a split S and the Russian guy crashed due to the Russian aircraft and the Russian pilot's ignorance. It couldn't keep up to the Viggen and he couldn't keep up to the Swedish pilot. Even though I feel sorry for the Russian man who died.

  • @Savta1234 Dude, I don't think you know what you are talking about. First of all, this accident happened in the time they were developing Gripen. Second, the pilot is not "stupid", there was a computer failure and not a "pilot failure", or how you want to put it. I've seen your earlier comments and I can see you're very immature. It would be so fun to see a Gripen kicking a SU-27:s ass because it really would. When my dad flew Viggen in the 90's, one of his buddies went over to Russia. He was m

  • @TheeBeastieBoy Az3trk is right, its called PIO as he said, it was not at engine failure

  • Now it's one of the most advanced generation 4.5 fighters in the world.

  • "Jäklar!"

  • IT'S THAT SAME CRASH FROM THE OTHER YOUTUBE VIDEO. The angle is the same. What happens to the plane is the same. IT'S THE SAME.

  • vad i helvete var det som hände? var det han eller planet som misslyckades? känns så jävla omöjligt att faila två gånger... fan vilken ångest han måste ha haft när han dalade ner med fallskärmen! fan fan fan

  • Wheres the pr0n

  • Lol, the stupid sweed thought he was flying SU-27, and not some funny swedish jet.

  • Too hurry to leave his jet - got no honor. Try to save it, you loser, don't ditch it right away. Stupid swede.

  • @Savta1234

And you Sir is more stupid...

Do you know How to fly JAS 39 Gripen? no you don´t. Just stfu

  • @Oolans

It's not a question of the jet specifics, moron.

  • @Savta1234 and you really think that he would be possible to save the plane in that situtaion? the plane was still under research.

  • @Oolans

Probably not. But he should of tried at least. He still had some time to eject. Why hurry?

  • @Savta1234 Would u be able to save it? No so shut the fuck up and shove ur head up ur ass, end of this discussion faggot.

  • @norra124

    1. A good test pilot would of had much more chances to save it then some swedish moron that barely knows how to take off.

    2. Shove your head into your mother's ass, and after that suck on your fathers fat swedish cock.

    3. Record everything you did in 2. and sell it as a good swedish porno movie all over the world.

  • @Savta1234 first of all, I want to see a video of you even flying a model airplane. I don't think you will even handle that. Second: too bad my cock is stuck in ur moms ass, I can barely move and do as u said.

  • @norra124

I don't need to be a pilot to understand how stupid this pilot is.

Don't give me this shit. Swedish girls' asses are so big from all the fucking you can fit in a SAAB GRIPEN in there. HAHAHA.

  • @Savta1234 And you think a big ass is a bad thing? Well then there we have it, you've officially come out of the closet, if you didn't come out of there earlier in life, and probably got manhandled by ur dad who is drunk on vodka all the time.

  • @norra124

Yeah, better to be drunk on Vodka, than to have sex with 12 year old girls like they do in Sweden.

  • @Savta1234 You're russian right? They have sex with 6 year olds and even make child pornography - fact. faggot.

  • @norra124

LOL, sweeds have been making child porn from the 60-ies. When you say "Sweden" all over the world people thing of porn-movies.

  • @Savta1234 Porn - swedes are hot that's why. CP + I don't think so. Well you are wasting my time so I won't reply to ur stupid comments. Go to school kid.

  • @Savta1234 panic? I dont know...I sure as hell would leave the plane if something went wrong

  • @Oolans

That's why you study for years to be a pilot, and get millions worth of training.

  • @Savta1234

    Lololol idiot

  • @Az3trk it was an engine problem dude find out the facts behind the crash then you can write stupid comments or smart depends...

  • @TheeBeastieBoy

Oh they irony when someone "corrects" you and calls you an idiot when they're wrong themselves.

The plane stalled during a slow speed maneuver, the crash was caused by PIO, pilot induced oscillation.

I have the report summary if you want it.

  • FAKE!!!

  • Swedes cannot into cobra

  • I hope nobody was injured :(

  • @leveluz nobody got hurt, this accident happend when the plane was new, and there was some problem with the new computer system that was installed. The plane landed in a park, fortunatly :P

  • @leveluz a bicyklist got throne off her bike by the pressure wave of the impact close to the park but that about it.

  • He tries cobra maneuver?

  • this was a long time ago, and i think it's sad that whenever media mentions JAS39 Gripen it's always criticizing it, it's like we don't allow ourselves as swedes to be proud of our, may i say super awesome multipurpose Jakt Attack Spaning airplane.

    :)

  • Ilmaveivi!

  • I remember standing there as a 12 year old and I saw he ejected, and i remember thinking that the Gripen is not a two seater (there was no two seat model back then I think) but still I thought it was some kind of joke. and when the smoke came up I felt sick :( I really thought a bunch of people must have died.

  • 100% Drunken swedish guy

  • Clearly nanothermite in that plane, inside job.

  • the problem was an overload i the fly by wire software, pilot put in too many nputs and the computer overloaded.

  • This shouldn't happen with fly-by-wire aircraft, definately looked like there was a major problem!

  • Saab mechanics put a car engine in instead of the jets. one mechanic was sent on arctic foot patrols the other was sent to detroit !!!

  • @dubbsy69 Are you stupid enough to mistake Sweden for Soviet Russia or something?

  • @Zenthik are you a typical thick cunt that cant see a joke. or maybe your englasy not vewy good knobhead!!!

  • @dubbsy69 maybe your joke sucked

  • @Makrond maybe your brain or lack of it was sucked out!!

  • He was ejecting that is the fire that you saw!

MAYBE IF YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION OR OTHER PEOPLES COMMENTS THAN U WILL UNDERSTAND ARE YOU NEW TO YOU TUBE OR NEW TO LIFE CAUSE MY 4 YEAR OLD SISTER COULD FIGURE THAT OUT!

  • Looks the guy was trying to execute "pugachev cobra" manuver, but something got wrong. I hope none had suffered on the ground.

  • @SuperSuperserge

Is not trying to do the cora manuver. The plane was doing that on its on.

  • If you look carefully in the first vid, the one taken from the boat, the pilot lands on his back in the water and is peeing himself cause you can see the fountain shooting up.

  • Good fighter but It cannot pull off the super maneuverability of the Su fighters...

  • @mrmindstorms The plane was stalled. The pilot ejected because he knew there was no way to recover from the maneuver.

  • Everything was the piolts fault. Cuz as soon as he parashooted out of the plain, it starded leveling out just as is should do. But when there's no pilot flying, it will crash..

  • @mrmindstorms

No it was the flight computer it was very advanced, because the plane is unbalanced, and the computer has to make calculations to balance the plane all of the time. That means that when the flightcomputer was failing thepilot had to bail out as soon there was a possibilty and with no people under him. And that the plane is falling strait, is completely another business when it´s flying with 1 or 2 Mach forward.

  • Swedish air power...

  • the pilot was a idiot

  • @okaaaiiiden Not funny go back to school you idiot!

  • There was a Computer Malfunction here you can see at 0.33 the gripen is all over the show! The rear and front allerons are going crazy! Basically the aircraft stopped and fell out of the sky like a brick falling leaf as they say.

  • I like the way he made no attempt to keep the plane away from the spectators and just got f**k out of there lol

  • So many experts on YouTube these days that know so little.

  • I remember standing in Rålambshovsparken thinking that it was a part of the routine. It's fortunate that the pilot was so skilled that he managed to steer the plane away from the huge crowd in the park. I was 10 years old at that time and i will remember it for the rest of my life.

  • i reckon he had enough altitude to recover, except if the computer(s) controling the plane had start to malfunction

  • If this was an air display I have to ask myself why not fully developed and tested planes are allowed to fly public displays. Not very responsible.

  • seems like he was trying to pull a cobra maneuver.

  • gotta love failsafes thugh. notice the jet rights itself to belly down and almost flat before crashing, even though it was ejected from in a high alpha vertical stall.

  • Actually it was a combination of operative and computer failure - not only the computer, as many of you think.

Something happens to the computer system, making the aircraft very unstable. What the pilot then does is (obviously) to try to regain control. However research has shown that he was "too hard" on the controls, so the plane never got stablized.

As you can see after the pilot has ejected from the plane, it stablizes immidietly, as the computer takes control of the plane again.

  • @rebarmukkler: Does the Gripen not have redundant flight computers? If it has how come all relevant computers fail at the same time?

  • deam scarry! thank good we never buy a jas, he have 50 f 16 better than this..at least some good luck..deam!

  • @LOSVOLA2

    hahaha, an F-16 wouldnt have a chance against a Jas-39 ;)

This was in the deveopment state of the jas, now it works fine, without any problems.

  • iirc, noone died in this crash.

    At least some good luck.

  • The pilot didn't knew that if he would've let go off the joystick the plane should've "corrected" its own movements by itself with the computer algoritms. Now he just felt that he was loosing all control over the plane.

  • i was wondering why the pilot ejected almost immediately after the first second of the "stall or whatever" . it seems like the pilot never even tried to save the airplane at all...

  • @stp289 if the plane get an computer error the pilot dont eject. the computer do.

  • looking at this stall, I am wondering if it was pilot induced, or cloud it been casued by the cumulus clould above him. Looks to me like he hit a strong bullet thermal that lifted the aircrafts nose casuing a stall.

  • The irony about this crash is that the same pilot crashed in 1989 in a prototype - he didn't eject - and survived with a fractured elbow and other injuries. Imagine how he felt when he had to bail in this instance.

  • I've seen the first crash; I can't believe he survived that one! Aircraft rolls around 7 times!

  • @Arabesquian Actually he did eject that time as well. He was lucky though. He previously flew the JA 37 Viggen aircraft which had it's ejection handles on the side of the cockpit while the Gripen has it in front of the pilot. So when he was about to eject, he reached to his is for the handle out of habbit. This saved his life as the time it took to reach for the correct handle position let the aircraft roll in to a proper ejection attitude. Otherwise he would ejected straight in to the ground!

  • the problem was the computers in the jet

  • he was too slow when her performed the cobra....you need to be a bit faster when you do such maneuver cuz it bleeds the speed dry

  • Gripen doesn't do Cobras

  • The pilot was an extremely well-experienced fighter pilot. The JAS 39 was still in development and the electronic steering system wasn´t calibrated fully yet. I think he knows exactly how to pull off the maneuvers.

They don´t put an inexperienced pilot in a brand new fighter jet.

  • @TheConnyB I heard that although the pilot was skilled he moved the controls harder and faster then he was supposed to since he had always fly older types of non digital arplanes before that was not sensitive and the system on JAS were so sensitive that it read these movements wrong. However the problems were really all to blame the software used to the flight computers.

  • @TheConnyB

The JAS 39 always crashes, the "flight computer" problem is still there, it's a basically unstable design, so it relies on the computer to keep it flying. That there was no casualties was because the plane went out of control in an area where there were no spectators. Jävle Automatisk Shit could have gone out of control over the audience.

  • @Simpson654 of course, that is absolutely true.. It was just a lucky coincidence no one was killed

  • @Simpson654

Actually, you're wrong. JAS 39 Gripen had only two design-related crashes during the testing phase and only three crashes in 15 years of service, two of them being due to human error and the last one due to the placement of the ejection handle that was accidentaly janked and ejected the pilot, and since then the ejection handle has been moved to a better spot in all aircraft.

So when all is said and done, it's a very safe aircraft, as compared to most other aircraft in history.

  • @Simpson654

The main reason people consider it to be an unsafe aircraft is partly because the press in Sweden is always so desperate for a news story, and partly because a camera was present in the two prototype crashes.

And NO aircraft in all of history has EVER gone through the prototype stage without crashing or failing even once, that's why it's called a prototype, it's an unfinished version.

  • @Denta92

The JAS Gripen is the only plane in history where no one died during the development and testflights of the prototype/plane.

  • @Az3trk How about the original Wright flyer? Pwned!

  • @Az3trk This means that all this will happen later, on serial exploiting.

  • @Denta92 : Rafale did it, the only crash were during operational training. ;)

  • @Simpson654 Haha you are retarded? It has only crashed 5 times with no deaths, look at how many times the f-16 for example crashed, and how many people which did die because of it.... Jas 3-9 gripen has the least crashes os any plane ever...

  • @TheConnyB

Actually, the pilot was a very good fighter pilot yes, but all the years under his belt had (obviously) been on the Viggen. In a situation like this in the Viggen, you have to manually regain control, but the Gripen will do it itself. The reason why he crashed was because he tried to manually do it, thus messing the auto-recovery system up, and so it crashed.

There are many articles on this published after the incident.

  • If it bleeds the speed dry, why does the initial speed matter? dry is dry! Besides, the Gripen doesn't have thrust-vectoring and doesn't do Cobras.

  • jädrar vilken smäll!!!!

  • Öland 1676

  • there's a fourth view, i saw it right now on TV. Some flames are about 3 meters from the people who duck to avoid debris along a fence ... frightening - Can't find it here, somebody did ?

  • Actually they grounded all the gripen during a while after this crash. Bad fly-by-wire controls !

  • well it wasnt only Gripen that had those problems, they were kinda universal since the technology was kinda new. F-16 hade som really bad problems with it and i think one went down, can't remember though. One commercial airliner went down aswell and a space shuttle had a close call with the fly-by-wire during re-entry.

  • Yep you're absolutly right, the first F-16 prototype crash landed due to pilot induced resonance [fly-by-wire] and also an Airbus a-320 [pilot error due to fly-by-wire time response] and even the YF-22[fly-by-wire]. All the vids are on the youtube somewhere... I was just jocking 'cos the gripen was the most recent one and that time the technology wasn't that new. [F-16 and Mirage 2000 where among the first in the late 70's]

  • Actually, in 2008, the F16 had been involved in more than 130 accidents with loss of life, jet, or with more than 1M$ in damage as outcome.

  • the Gripen is AWESOME!!!! Sweden's best aircraft!

  • this is not a stall. it's a departure in a low speed & high AOA due to gripen inertia moment!!!! It's typ in F16 see Flight test engineer manual!
