@AwwC00L New consoles (both xbox 360 and ps3) wont have a refresh until approx 2015 so dont worry about not getting the most out of it, plus with the ps2 up until probably a year ago you had games still being released on it.

@LJMJDWSCpitt PS3, both fat and slim work with notebook hdds, so yeah, you can take off the one from the old and slap onto the new one without worries

@LJMJDWSCpitt You can't access the data on a different ps3, you need to back it up in "sytem settings" and then go to "backup utility" and then restore it on your new ps3 slim. Or you can copy individual save data. Btw, you can redownload anything you've bought, like games and downloadable content. so don't worry about that.

What i reccomend getting is the ps3 slim. At first the slim does look ugly but evenrually it actually look better. The reson why I reccomend the slim is because it doesn't heat up it will let the system last much longer. It is all up to you but I rather get what is up to date so I'm getting the slim

well if you like the fat better then get the fat one, because i have my fat one and all you have to do is get an update and the fat one runs 3.00 firmware too. so it all just depends what you want. just remember, the fat ones are running out fast!

Most, yes. Aside from a few locked saves. Otherwise most of it was there (with the exception of re-downloading the games). This is due to it being a new console. When I restored the same data on the fat PS3's new 120gb HDD (to retrieve some data that can only be played there, including PS2 saves, etc.) everything was there, including games and every file that was there before.
