i like his playin' because it's pretty simple. but in it's way, it fit perfectly to all the other sound. he's a genius in finding that only drumlick, that makes a song perfect. great drummer.

so many people are saying he's not the best drummer in the world, and i dont wanna sound like some loser incubus fan boy, but i honestly believe he is one of the greats. sure, he isn't as openly flashy as some, and he isnt as recognised by the drumming community, but he has a truly individual voice and a unique sound, which to me is far more indicative of great musical talent than fancy tricks. He is a drumming god for me.

His toms are beast, in my opinion the solo was fucking sick. But I think those sayingit sucked are because they're expecting so completely esoteric Peart or Portnoy solo, they don't understand that Jose finds dynamics in simplicity instead of technicality. His drumming is simplistic but it flows with the rest of the band and that's what makes him so great. He doesn't add randoms in songs that make you ask wtf he's trying to do. Like i said, I thought it was pretty sick

Fortunately there's a lot of bands out there as good and unique as Incubus (and even better), but they are not on tv or radio. I hope they take a more progressive orientation on their next record, I heard Mike was studying composition.

Keep in mind that some of this bands aren't too accesible if you are used to mainstream music.

Rx Bandits (specially the last two albums), Beardfish, Porcupine Tree, Black Bonzo, Blk Jks, Portugal The Man, Children of Nova, Hella, Tool... I don't want to throw 200 names at you haha.

My personal favourite is The Mars Volta (Incubus are fans btw), it's like "what the fuck?" when you first listen to them, but once you get used to their sound they start blowing your mind.

I posted that a year ago, my views have expanded quite a bit since then! And their new music is just as good, if not musically and technically better than their old stuff. In my opinion at least. Ben had ideas, he made a new solo album. Jose has a child. Mike went to college, and has MANY ideas, I'm positive of that. They've been going non-stop for a while, it's only fair for them to take a break. It has nothing to do with a lack of ideas as far as we know. Your point still has no reasoning.
