@gerlachrose they have a very similar sound, mainly because rise against ripped off the offsprings style, not knocking it, it's a great style to rip off, and they do it will, but if you hear a offspring song and instantly think "wow they sound a lot like rise against" you need to go play in traffic. thats like listening to the beatles and saying "wow they remind me a lot of oasis"

@mondrometal i think this song is about accepting that two people who were in love have to go their separate ways and in spite of the pain it causes (the twisting knife) they have to move on, cause hey, if not, may as well die. i'm going through something similar to that in my life right now, so maybe i'm biased, but this song is actually helping me. love, pain, even life itself (all our light that shines strong) are only temporary and we have to accept that and make the best of it.

@mondrometal only my opinion, but burning red to me symbolizes intense emotions. relationships can be very passionate and that does not fade instantly. this still burning passion (the banner your waving) can "cloud the sunlight." you have to accept being alone again (you against the world). you kind of feel like your world has been destroyed and you have to start over (watch the city burn). but with this chance of "self-liberation" you can move on past "the arrows that rain on your mind."

@mondrometal thanks...now that i think about it, i think these lyrics are applicable in any sort of situation where you are forced to leave behind what's comfortable or loved. death, moving away, etc. i JUST ended an intense relationship so these words naturally relate to that.
