  • I deforked my OTA, sold the mount on Astromart last week and will never buy another fork mount again. I'll be buying a Paramount ME mount by the end of the year.

Over the course of a few years I'll eventually move to a PlaneWave or Alluna Optics Ritchey-Chretien telescope. At the moment I can't just jump up and spend $25,000 or more on a telescope. That will have to wait.......and it may or may never happen. Either way is okay I suppose.

Wish I could just find a hobby that isn't expensive.

  • @pmgodfrey HAHA true. Hobbies are for the rich

  • Now that's some aperture fever! I have an LX200R 8" also supercharged by Dr P Clay Sherrod. Number 4207 - 2008

  • Supercharged?

  • - @ Deepsky1A1B -

It is a service provided by Dr. Clay Sherrod in Arkansas. Basically he cleans the gears, re-lubes them, adjusts backlash, cleans optics, collimates the optics, etc. Cost varies depending on the size. Typically a few hundred dollars.

  • I have a 12" lx200 and I never heard

of the term " supercharged " in relation to working on a telescope

See URL below for more information regarding the "supercharge" service. Remove spaces in link as YouTube does not allow direct entry of URL's.

  • dude quick i think your telescope is spying on you

  • wow its loud

  • It's realy not that bad,

It"s inside a room so it

    just sounds loud.

  • Nice... Yeah Meade makes some really good telescopes

  • Dobsonians are cheap, and high quality reflectors, but due to the construction of the mount, they are difficult to use to track objects. I personally prefer the German Equilateral mount, but to each his own.

  • what do you mean when you say supercharged telescope?

buy the way i know nothing about telescopes but i am interested.

im looking to buy a first telescope any suggestions?

    peace

  • get a zhummel 10inch dobsonian. thats what im gonna get

  • 8" on a good equtorial mount

    with a sturdy tripod

    Celestron or a Meade.

  • The 12" was my first telescope...well first "serious" telescope. Sold in 98 :( but bought a nice 10" and had it super charged by Clay Sherrod a few years ago.
