@sploshy5 What do you mean "pretty visible from the main road"? I've tent camped way back halfway to the mud flats and I've seen others back there as well. Is this some new "rule" or what?
@sfam It's only what I heard which is why I never camped away from the road. I could very well be wrong. I don't even remember where I heard it from. It it's not a rule, then shoot! I'll camp where dern well please!
@bjfowler000 I confirmed with the Sand Scorpions, a local offroading group that is very involved in the dunes and they confirmed that there is no such rule. Someone was simply misinformed. Camp wherever you want, just be smart about it. (no camping at the bottom of a hill, etc.) :)
@sfam That's good news because whenever we go there we end up next to a bunch of sloshed crazy people that insist on blasting music, screaming, picking fights, and running their quads right through our camp til 3 in the morning. Um... no offense intended if thats what you like to do (we are a family crowd with kids and such). There are spots out in the dunes that I have seen where I have wanted to stay overnight at. Thanks for the good news!
@bjfowler000 Haha. No offense taken. We're family oriented as well. Maybe we could exchange a few PMs and see about the families camping together sometime if that sounds cool with you.
@mrdirtbiker250r-thanks. i would certainly recommend paddles there. Its a sand dune just like any other typical sand dune-only there is a bit of dust and ash mixed in it but the consistency is that of pure, genuine sand. its a fun place-no huge bowls or anything, but good jumping to be had there.
@caraddict27 The main gravel, dusty road (if you have driven the entire length of it) swings right by the water at one point. When I say right by, I mean about 100 yards. I don't think there is a point where that road goes directly to it but we can usually get right next to it at that spot I told you about.
It is my cousin. I thought about getting that shot but then I thought to myself,"Sand loves getting into cameras and ruining them." So I decided not to.
can you tent camp there?

@909dirtbiker -You can tent camp there as long as you are pretty visible from the main road that winds through the dunes.

Yamahariderz2u- :25 to :28 is in Coeur d' Alene (where I live) at Canfield Mountain (if you're familiar with the area). It's the access.
sploshy5 2 years ago
from 0:25 to 0:28 where is that?
YamahaRiderz2u 2 years ago
Walker Valley? That doesn't ring a bell. It is all just Moses Lake and St. Anthony Sand Dunes, with some local trail riding around where I live.
