  • cool story, bro. tell it again

  • I will try this right now...coz I cannot stand these bugs..their multiplying really fast!

  • no need to respond. i googled it

  • what is surface tension

  • why the dish detergent?

  • Nice!

  • great video thanks for sharing :-). I will try that. I hate bugs

  • Do you slosh the vinegar around to mix the soap drops - or just let the drops go in and let it be? Is the point to gently mix the vinegar and couple drops of soap together?

btw - thank you for your advice!

  • Awesome! Thanks!

    Minnesota got them pretty bad.

  • The smell of the vinegar would be a welcome one if the flies are not around. Lets you know its working.

  • vacuum works great too for the congregating spots

  • Thank you so much for posting this video! I cannot believe how well the remedy works!! We were getting overrun with fruit flies at work and going insane. I saw this video yesterday and went out right after work to buy the cider vinegar. First thing this morning I set it up in a bowl with a little soap in our kitchen area and cannot believe how many of those stinkin' flies we have caught so far! Thank you so much!!!!!

  • @MrsWinifred Well That is a great tale, thanks for letting me know, glad it helped. those are some pesky little things

  • eagerly awaiting relief! thank you!

  • WOW! It worked. I just poured the Apple Cider into a small bowl and added a couple of drops of dish soap and all the Fruit Flies came running! In less than 10 seconds there was a swarm! Amazing!

  • They love ACV...I've actually been told that it actually actracts more of them. Try this, box fan with mosquito netting (buy at cloth store for wedding dresses) secure peice that covers front to metal with magnets. fly trap!

  • They love ACV...I've actually been told that it actually actracts more of them.

  • They love ACV...

  • I love the killing. There's nothing like ending the lives of a fly.

  • YEAH THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS BE GOING IN MY WATER RIGHT AFTER I TAKE IT OUT OF THE FRIDGE! -_- I HATE THOSE BITCHES THEY DESERVE TO DIEEEE

  • These guys that have the audacity to say it's cruel really are strange. Maybe you will swallow them all so the rest of us can enjoy our lives without those pathetic non-human things that are nasty and irritating. LOL

  • They have dropped in my coffee here in NC and I pour the coffee out. Gross!

  • People are ridiculous; these little fuckers are annoying as hell and have absolutely no problem hovering in or around the trash can, toilet, or any other nasty area. I don't want them on my food or flying in my face.

  • Glad to see you didnt waste your beverage because of a dirty fruit fly! LOL

  • this is so inhumane and cruel. I have lots of fruit flies, but so what? like someone said, its not their fault that they were born a fruit fly!

they are harmless creatures...who cares if they get in your food? i once at a apple that was covered in fruit flies and it didnt bother me.

make your peace with nature and learn to co-exist with them!

  • @jason17305 There's something wrong with you.

  • fruit flies are trying to take over.. they are in Atlanta as well.. haha

  • Thank u for sharing this! :)

  • Same here in Boston, they're making us insane!! Thanks for sharing.

  • I understand how you feel. I have fruit flies in my home too and they are very annoying and embarrassing too. I hate them the most when they fall in my food or my drink also when they get in my nose or my mouth, sometimes it's hard to get them out of my nose or my throat. And it's the most embarrassed when someone comes to visits me and notice that I have flies in my home, besides, they could be thinking I don't clean my home and that's why I have the flies in my home, but that's not true.

  • I would put a lot of sugar, vinigar, syrup, dog shit, fresh pieces of meat & fruit, maybe some juice and put it all in a blender to make the ultimate bait.

  • last year it was stink bugs. now we have to deal with fruit flies, what's the bible say about plagues and pestulance?

  • Great tip. I hate gnats

  • Hahaha, i love coffe & hate fruit flys too!!!

  • Your Funny!:D

  • coffee with added protein

  • Good Video. I had a infestation last fall, and I found that if you use a little red wine they really go after that.

  • I tried this last nite. I used about a 1/4 cup of apple vinegar and 2 drops of Dawn. It sat out all nite and not 1 fly in it today. I even tried just plain apple vinegar. Does not work for me in central Illinois.

  • i'd be more worried about your nasty ass hands getting in my coffee

  • This works amazingly well. The moment I put this out, I could actually see the fruit-flies kamikazing toward the bowl. Within about an hour or so, they were 99% gone. I added a bit of plastic wrap on top and poked some holes in it, it seems to have increased the rate. Great tip for getting rid of an annoying nuisance. Thanks!

  • Bugs not bothering boys.......typical stereotype

  • i tried a nigger diaper as bait,but it didnt work.But bananas,vinegar,fruit peelings,even agave nectar i`ve used

  • @IwontConform , I see that you have two Mr. Roger's Neighborhood clips on your YouTube Channel.

You might want to know that by all accounts, he was as geniune & kind both on and off screen. Mr. Roger's reguarly featured Black adults and children on his before it was "politically correct" or profitable.

Mr. Roger's was loving, accepting, and inclusive.

Armed with this newfound knowledge, I have no doubt that your opinion of Mr. Roger's will quickly plummet.

  • @swaregirl Yes,i was and still am a big fan of Fred Rogers, for all the reasons you mentioned, and as a long time viewer of his show,i know he had blacks on the program,as both guests and "neighbors".And at one time,i accepted blacks just like fred did.But after some negative personal experiences with blacks and anti-white sentiment from them,my opinion of them has changed. That does not mean that the goodness i had then isnt still there.I know it is.Fred Rogers will always be a hero to me.

  • @IwontConform , as a Southerner, I was the victim of name calling & abuse from strangers for no other reason than the color of my skin. I came from generations of people who suffered under abuse worse than mine. But I chose not to paint all people with the same broad brush.

There are a # of people who I geniunely LOVE.

    Three of them are White.

I would have missed out on these three wonderful friendships had I closed my heart & mind off.

I urge you to reconsider your decision.

  • @IwontConform , just a question. Do you think that a Black person would be justified in hating White people, based upon negative personal experiences with Whites and anti-Black sentiment from them?

  • @IwontConform Seriously? How whiny. As a white person who's experienced plenty of a-hole behavior from my fellow white folks, I find your "complaint" ridiculous. Negativity comes in all colors, as your comments make so blatantly obvious.

  • This does not work as good as people claim.I think you have to use the right liq. soap .The soap I used suank to the bottom instead of it hitting, and spreading over the surface of the water.I think that's the key,the right liq.soap..Even though it still works

  • Thanks for the tip. I've had a recent infestation in my grandmother's apartment, not knowing where they all of a sudden came from. Prevalent in the kitchen area & the bathroom. I will try this and see if it actually works. They really are bothersome!

  • they like orange juice as well... also rotting fruit you fuckin fly drinking ass hole

  • @kennular1 LOL

  • Thank you! I just made a trap about 2 minutes ago and there are already 3 flies in there struggling. Gosh it's satisfying watching them SUFFER and DIE.

  • very helpful thanks

  • guy looks like manson!

  • Do Fruit Fly's Bite ????

  • @afrosamuraifan111 they go for fruit thats why they're like the fruit vinagar

  • @afrosamuraifan111 No, they just pester the shit out you by flying up your nose or in your ears and crawling all over any kind of food your trying to eat.

  • Thanks :D

  • Very helpful...thanks! :)

  • I'm currently using a small tub with a slice of lemon or lime in it, covered with a piece of cling wrap with small holes in it. The holes are about 3mm across - large enough for the flies to enter. Use a cocktail stick or something. How it works is that the poor little critters can't work out how to get out once they're in. In the evening you can let them out in the garden. Not quite as effective as vinegar/detergent, but doesn't leave dish of dead flies.

  • Ty! :)

  • I like that. thanks

  • I just set that up in my kitchen, I know it's too early to tell, but I was wondering how you think this would work with the foam soap. My solution is really bubbly, and I'm wondering if they're going to be put off by that.

  • I've made many homemade traps in an attempt to contain my fruit fly infestation. It didn't work. By the way, it's kind of weird that I've you for a tutorial on how to get rid of fruit flies. I've seen many of your computer videos.

  • Hey i put apple vinegar in a bowl and mixed in a little bit of water and washing detergent, but the flys don't seem to be taking the bait. Any suggestions?

  • @blacksabbathgnr098 Yeah, no water and just a few drops of dishwashing liquid.

  • @blacksabbathgnr098 add cheese they love the smell of that

  • Same! I'm also in Michigan. I can't stand them!

  • @alyssac11 I know, they are so annoying.

  • Thanks for the advice. I'm glad that you said they normally don't bother you. In some of the videos I've seen, people seem to get sadistic pleasure out of killing them. It's not their fault they were born fruit flies. Frankly, I wish there was some way I could catch them and put them outside, instead of kill them.

  • @rrrina I know what you mean, I dont even like killing out a fly but if they persist at buzzing around my face then they have to go LOL

  • @rrrina Put a piece of fruit in a jar and place it where there are fruit flies.

When you see the fruit flies on the fruit...close the lid. Open and let the flies out outside or where they will not bother you.

Use fruit that is at room temp and make sure you release the flies ASAP,

otherwise they will die inside the jar.

  • @shafaq007 , thank you for the great advice! I will take it!

  • This works! I saw one fruit fly in my apartment, mixed the cider vinegar and detergent, and caught the fly within 10 minutes! Amazing.

  • aahhh!!! get away bug on my shirt ooh my gosh help!!!!

  • I've been stretching some plastic wrap around the bowl and using a pen to punch a few holes in the plastic wrap. They climb inside and can't get out.

  • Thats a good idea

  • @BetaFlux

  • im going to try this,i live in indiana and ive noticed they have been bad this year!

  • i tried you suggestion, seems to be working, I've noticed the flies like to hang out around the bowl more than they like drowning in it

  • We get a parade of these suckers

    every few months, here.

    I've already tried this method,

    with no luck!

  • No Luck?? really, it works great for me, but also I had to make sure that there was nothing laying around for them to eat, you might have juices or something laying around that you cant see,

  • Thanks I'm going to try this tonight.

  • xD This is funny man!

  • THANK YOU, we have a big fruit fly problem, I'm going to try this.

  • Cool, I live in Michigan to, have the same problem, thanks for the remedy! =D

  • I hope that was a coffee ground! :)

  • LOL, yeah it was, no body else caught that.

  • these ideas do work but the best way to totally eliminate these pesky flies is to put some Limeaway down all the drains in your home. Fruit flies are actually drain flies and this is where they multiply so the limeaway makes this impossible and you will get rid of all the flies.

  • Thats a good idea, I was wondering where they were coming from I have cleaned and cleaned to no avail.

  • Thanks now now no how to get to stop fruit flys and without strong smell thanks for the video

  • thinks for the help beta

i have so much mosquitoes in my house ware i live im going try this

  • I think that this will only work for fruit flies and not mosquitoes. Since they are attracted to the apples hence the drowning in the apple cider vinegar and mosquitoes are attracted to blood. Maybe if you had blood vinegar! :P

  • Dave,

A helpful hint indeed. However, I'm starting to get a bit concerned.

Might I suggest adding some Bailey's Irish Cream to the coffee and making a bunch of really tiny friends...

  • Good Idea,

  • woh i didn't see you replayed

  • use off

  • Thanks for making this! I had a terrible fruit fly problem earlier this summer. I seem to have gotten rid of them by not throwing away organic material until garbage day. If I ever have a problem again, I'll definitely try this.

  • i don't see fruit flies often where i live.

  • bugs SUCK! I stick an old banana in a jar, wait for them to really swarm up in there, and then I shake the jar, drowning them all in banana slime. :) But I love your stunt! Very cool!

  • lol that's awesome

  • there are no fruit flies here where i am in Michigan!

  • Thanks for this great info! We sometimes get them really bad here in Virginia too. This looks like an elegant and effective solution (not to mention inexpensive!)

  • Ugh fruit flies are ******* annoying!

  • Perfect timing for this video, my kitchen was infested last night.

  • we got alot of flying ants in chicago

  • That certainly seems to work well! We don't often get them - too cold and windy here I think. :)

  • Hi. That worked pretty well for me, too. But here for some reason, the fruit flies seemed to prefer a Merlot (with a drop of Dawn) - annoying things!

  • Hey,...Is that one of the bowls I bought for Mishka's food. Then there should be another that's blue for her water. Hmmmm. Hand painted South Western ceramics...Lets catch fly's shall we...?

  • great tip!

  • I'll have to give a shot sometime

  • Ill have to try that out. I have a pitcher plant that does the same thing.

  • Thanks for the tip. I definitely have to try that out. :D

  • Have a great life my Beta :D

  • awesome

  • Great tip! I'll have to try that. I live in MI too and have had many of those annoying suckers in the house. Thanks for sharing. :)
