glad tat tokyo cheer2 party manage to debut in oricon at number 20 their target is 30, n awesome idoling, buono n ikimonogakari song!! congratz bump of chicken for hard-earn number 1 :D
Finally a number 1 that I actually like!! I can't remember the last time that happened...maybe 風は吹いている? But Good Luck is even more amazing, one of the best songs ever.
@ktrout17 totally agree. There may be songs I love that get into the top 10, but rarely is there a no.1 I agree with. As far as I am concerned Bump of Chicken have been the best artist of the past year and a half. They bloody deserve it.
Naturally, since at that time their popularity is still growing at a rapid rate. If Ue kara Mariko were to be released during that time instead, I expect only slightly higher sales than Chance no Junban.
@SniperRuleZ I think Sakura no Ki ni Narou was bound to not do greatly. They had a similar song in '10 which didn't do as well as usual (guessing) because of the slow style.
Their music will always sell to fans of the members, but the fans of their music seem to usually only like the cheerful stuff.
As usual, you love guessing instead of presenting facts. Once again, all 2010 AKB48 songs have increasing sales as it approaches the later date as their popularity is still increasing. Only Chance no Junban didn't sell well, as it is a Janken single, just like Ue kara Mariko.
@SniperRuleZ Yeah, and proud. I kind of like opinions.
You're saying an increase of 400k is nothing (from Sakura) but a drop of 100k is important (to Mariko). Kaze also dropped.
I'm not denying the importance of the appearing members; all I'm saying is music is important too. Obviously less important since it's AKB48, but still plays a part. I don't think Sakura would have sold more than Mariko if it was released at the same time. (even forgetting that it's the wrong time of year for the song)
Only subjective matters should present an opinion, like whether a song is nice or not. Right now all these are facts. AKB48 popularity is more or less steady since mid-2011. Kaze wa Fuiteru is merely a song dedicated towards the Earthquake, it's not promoted in any fancy way like Flying Get, naturally sales are slightly lesser.
If a song from 2009, which didn't even sell more than 250k copies, were to be release in 2011 at Ue kara Mariko spot, it would likewise sell more than it. .
@SniperRuleZ I disagree. Why did AKB start climbing in 2010 despite stagnation in 2009? They found their place in the market. Their style is completely different than before and Chance no Junban no Sakura no Ki ni Narou didn't fit in well. Ue Kara Mariko obviously did lose sales because of it's near-random members but sold better than Chance anyway because it was in-line with their style more.
I'm enough of your ignorance, knowing no facts but presenting all your opinions. AKB48 climb in 2009 straight away, the very moment they signed on to King Records, who knows how to promote them properly, and have been growing rapidly since till mid-2011. Ue kara Mariko sold better than Chance no Junban for obvious reasons, their popularity is better in 2011, and Mariko is the center.
Till you're able to present facts instead of opinion, I'm going treat u as a troll and ignore u.
Like ive said, because mariko is there, while chance no junban members are mostly unpopular. And dont look at number of sales increase, look at percentage instead. Ive already presented to u the most perfect proven example: heavy rotation. Present a fact that supports ur opinion
@SniperRuleZ Wasn't one of the reasons Chance No Junban sold less something to do with the handshake tickets? If I remember right they did something different with them for that release than they usually do. I think it was that instead of 1 CD = 1 Handshake like normal, it was 1 CD = 1 entry into a raffle to possibly win a handshake. Or something to that effect.
I think the wota just decided to wait 2 months for their next single with guaranteed handshakes to do their multiple copy buying.
One of the reasons? Perhaps. But to be strict, it almost doesn,t matter. Handshake is only for limited edition copies only and it very limited (duh how many hands will they shake?). What u mean by multiple copies is for senbatsu poll singles: kachuusha; ponytail to shushu
@SniperRuleZ Woah, don't you know about the theater editions? Those are actually the highest selling editions & those come with handshake tickets for the specific members that you want. Usually every AKB, SKE, & NMB member are included. The handshake events take all day, and each member shakes the hand of THOUSANDS of people.
I know people who regularly buy around 60-100 theater editions for multiple handshakes with their favorites. Each ticket only gets you around 10 seconds, heh.
@SniperRuleZ The theater editions are sold through the Chara-Ani website. You can sort of figure out that it's the highest selling edition by comparing sales reported by Soundscan & Oricon.
Take Ue Kara Mariko for example. From what I understand Soundscan only shows it selling around 300,000 copies. They only count types A, K, B. They don't count sales from the Chara-Ani website. But Oricon DOES count sales from Chara-Ani. Oricon shows 1 million+ sales.
Ive no idea how credible that soundscan is, threatre definitely sold very well, but not that much. The handshake is over 10000 ppl i know, but a far cry from the million sales (obviously they cant shake that many). Like ive said, what u said all matters, but the most significant ones is what i pointed out, buying more than 10 copies are the super minority. Numbers wise it seem alot, percentage of total sales wise is very not significant
@SniperRuleZ Now, I'm not saying 1 million is just from theater editions or anything. But WAY more than 10,000 people attend the handshake events. Also, I believe multiple events are held for each single.
Each ticket gets you 1 handshake, with 1 member only. Even theater girls/KKS can each sell around a thousand tickets. And the media senbatsu members sell around 9,000 tickets. And when events have like 100 girls....
Most people figure around 600,000 to 700,000 theater editions sold total.
There's only 1 event for the handshake which holds nearly 20k ppl. The rest are handshake events from limited edition copies, which is very few thousand, which I attended once while I was in Japan. And seriously, I'm not going to listen to "most people figure", unless you can provide an appropriate source, which shouldn't be from a regular person with no special title from a personal blog / forum.
Ive already said mariko was the reason. Maybe u thought i was refering to the song title. With promotions and mass media, song perhaps only matter like 1% from a decent standard onwards, which is not high at all. Look at marumaru mori mori, a theme song to such an awesome & popular drama outsold ALL artist xcept arashi & akb. Dun say it is awesome, cuz initially the ppl here hates so much, but it stay so long that they decide to like it
@SniperRuleZ personally I watched Marumo because I liked the song. But if it was just the song it wouldn't have gotten that 8th place, of course. Cute kids and a popular drama were important. But It's more popular than the drama now. What kept it in place? Japanese people like cute songs.
I can't help but think you're underestimating the songs. I know plenty of Japanese girls who like AKB48 songs. They're not hardcore idol ota, they just think they're catchy, like I do.
The drama is not cute or wadever, it is very touching story. Oh im not critisising the songs, im just saying what the majority ppl here think. It is NOT what i think. I love akb as well, which is y i know so much about them (not simply their songs). Its no denial media matters so much, which is y idol take over the chart, cuz they appear on drama, megazine, commercials, radio etcs.
Heavy Rotation is still AKB48's most popular song, placing number 1 in various polls in requests on many of their concerts. However it definitely sold much lesser than every singles after it, except Chance no Junban, just go think about it yourselves.
