@schinken360 Low weight high reps tones the the muscles, whereas high weight low reps builds bigger muscles. If you're doing that many reps of each exercise, you should start on the weight you end with each time and up the weight then if you can.
Assuming hard work and proper nutrition. How long should it take a slim 33 year old guy (such as myself) to develop a chest like yours? Would I be right in thinking that the time frame is counted in terms of years rather than in weeks or months?
how do you do if youre a big guy 1.84(6ft) and have man boobs. would this eliminate the fat, or just add muscle? eventually, yes, it will burn off but at the beginning, would the chest bloat out?
i dont want to start doing pecs then gain more mass while still wearing milkshakes.
@pepperonicheeseful No it is not ok. You grow when you rest not when you lift. You need at least a day off. Preferably you should rotate and train different body parts on different days.
Is there a home workout edition of this workout? Currently all I have to workout is an iron gym, 15lbs dumbbells and a bench with a max of 2 25lbs weights. Gym memberships aren't currently in my budget. Can I all succeed at making my body grow?
Hey Ryan, I've been following your advice and tips closely and I definitely feel a strong difference already! Regarding the dips, different people have told me different things about the angle of how you do the dips? Do I have to lean forward at all or does that work the triceps more? Would be great to get a response!
i broke my leg about 9 months ago just got back into the gym so am pretty weak, but my chest has always been small, and i heard you need to work on your back and shoulders before you can do any chest workouts. is that true?
@cena28229 use dunbells instead of barbells, this puts an even amount of stress on each side of your chest so your left will have to work harder, therefore grow more
You have the exact body I'm trying to build for my frame. That may be the best looking chest I've ever seen. Thanks a lot for the tips man, I'm going to be using all of them.
Hey man ive been watching ur videos for a while now, great tips and advice keep up the good work. However, can u make videos on building ur shoulders. Thanks much appreciated. :)
my question is, why only 6 reps? should i be lifting all i can possible lift to do 6 reps? otherwise it seems like im getting done too fast? please help..
Hi mate, good video. Was wondering if you could do a video on simply how to bulk up if your skinny? Like what exercises and how many sets and reps, would be really good because there's a lot of advice out there and I don't know who to follow, but your vids seem great and you seem like you know all your stuff. Would be great!
What could I do to replace dips? I don't have a suitable place to perform them at home- but I do have a place to do decline bench presses as "rambosambo1" mentioned

Hey Ryan, I have been meaning to for a while now, but just got around to posing up your chest vid on my fitness blog. I'm starting to get more views and traffic and so hope this helps build up your site and youtube side of things too. Keep up the great work!

Can you tell me how can I measure my heart rate while doing cardio?? I do cardio 6 days around 30-40 mins , simply running and strectching.. Will that detrimental to my muscle growth? Kindly do reply
@silvercoasts I believe there is a way you can count your pulse through your wrist or neck but I am too lazy to do that. I'd suggest picking up a heart rate monitor. No it won't hurt muscle growth if you keep calories at right level and keep your cardio at lower intensity levels (so your body uses fat for energy)
out of so so soo many videos on youtube I guess this guy has the kind of chest which is inspiring.. solid firm muscle and awesome definition.. I am gona listen to him from nowonwards as thts the kind of chest I want !
@theworkoutcorner Not to sound gay but you have a very nice looking chest lol. I fkn want your chest haha. Next time I do my chest I'm gonna try out this workout. And by the way, you look just like Chris Evans lol.
@BlueGama600 Why do straight guys preface every compliment towards another man with "i am not gay but..... " Just give the damn compliment! No one knows you on here and who cares anyway? Women compliment other women without being lesbians, so get over it and let go of your homophobia and inhibitions. Only insecure straight men cannot give another man a compliment without thinking others are thinking they are gay.
haha, i just came across your video today :D and i am pleased with your advice! I will Subscribe NOW! oh and btw, you look like CHRIS EVANS! :D, (He's ripped too! in "Captain America" KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
I'd like to follow this program for my chest exercise.. just wanna ask if it's OK to add 2 or 3 more exercises of different muscle group (Biceps, Triceps, Shoulders) after I do the this program? Thanks!
@Sean2LH Hi Sean - no need to add extra exercises; just make sure you're using good weight and you'll see plenty of growth. Be sure to share your progress when finished - best of luck
Dude at athleneX says that flies dont build the chest but a muscle in the upper arm that doesnt even attatch to your chest muscles. I find that hard to believe though, when I do flies my chest pumps up. I think hes just over thinking things with all of his knowledge.
I am 20 y.o. 5'10" and about 150lbs. I have some muscle but im still kinda skinny, I go to the gym and I drink protien powder with milk but it dosen't seem like im getting any bigger. Is there anything else I should be doin 2 gain muscle/weight?
@Sextimus23 From my experience it will have a better effect on you if you just started working out because when you first start bodybuilding you notice the most gains within like the first 6 months. After that it starts getting tricky and your body gets used to doing the same routine you reach a plateau then you gotta start changing up your exercises.
Ryan, I am ready to move from bodyweight dips to weighted dips however I do not have a belt. Can I begin to put weight in a backpack and wear that on my back for the dips or would that be bad for my back?
@celticbarn Hey good job moving up! You may want to try holding a dumbbell between your legs, I've done that before and it helps keep the weight centered vs being off-loaded on your back.
@celticbarn im not really a prefessional, but im also wondering what if you wore the backpack with the straps around your legs? it seems like it would be close to the same thing
I've been working out for just about a year now and I've put on like 40 pounds of muscle. The main thing that I want out of all the muscles in my body is a defined chest. Do you think that body fat can hide your chest and make you think that you're not building muscle on your pecs? Because I've noticed that when I move the fat by my lower pecs I can see the round curves and that's what I've been wanting but I'm scared of doing cardio cuz I think I lose muscle. What do you think AI should do?
@kevlar0718 Wow good job on all the muscle gain. Fat can certainly "hide" your definition depending on how much. I would try some light cardio (heart rate at 60%) - this is the fat burning zone - you don't burn as many overall calories, but it doesn't eat away at your hard-earned muscle, just fat.
@theworkoutcorner I'm sorry I meant I put 20 lbs. of muscle and somewhere between 5 and 10 lbs. of fat but thats still pretty good though for my first year and considering I was always skinny growing up. I just gotta stop being lazy and do cardio. So you say keep my heart rate at 60%? I'ma have to get one of those heart rate monitors for my arm. Thanks for the info man I appreciate it. Oh, Does cardio help with building muscle mass by any chance?
@kevlar0718 On average, you can expect to gain around 10-20lb of muscle for the first 3-5 years. After that you will be lucky to gain 2lb per year. Without drugs you will gain around 30lb of muscle in total, with very little improvement after that.
So your 40 pounds of 'muscle' was most likely 10lb muscle and 30lb fat. Sorry bro.
@kevlar0718 dude there is now way you've put on 40 pounds of muscle in none year, sorry but thats just not possible at all..the majority of what youve gained will be fat with a bit of muscle probably
@kevlar0718 Did I say 40? I meant 20 of muscle and like 10 of fat but I take supplements and I took a 1 month cycle of something that had forms of steroids in it but never again will i take that shit cuz I lost like 10 lbs in one week when I got off it and for that week I wasn't eating that much.
im trying to get rid af fat...but nutrition is a problem for me cuz of school. so any tips would be very appreciated.. maybe some1 know a good fat loss pill that works? btw i do workout. thanks :)
Thanks for the tips bro I do so many push ups and pull ups thinking I will get a bigger chest smh. But I see I have to start lifting more weights to get a bigger chest.
@theworkoutcorner I'm sorry, I know you're the health guru here but you need protein equal times around 6 times a day. Not just one massive dose followed by minuscule dose's.
Great video! Im an avid lifter, but i never know if im getting the most out of my workout! can you post a video for strengthening you back as well as one for abs? awesome stuff!
Hey can you help me? Im 5,6 and i weight 120 ! im 15 years old! I want some tips to get weight! i eat a lot and a lot O_O but i dont take weight... and i need to get a good back and chest but i only have one lift. Have some tips?
@Thicame3 Deadlifts and lots of them, don't try force your appetite too much, count your calories and see what you need in supplements and you'll find your appetite growing after a few weeks training.
@Frenchdayz problem is not my appetite!!!! Its that i dont get weight! make1 years and i always weight 120 ! but i eat lot cauz i got a very good appetite but still i dont see a change
@Thicame3 If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. You won't grow muscle mass unless your body thinks you need it, so by 'pushing for the burn' you damage muscle tissue and your body responds by releasing muscle building hormones and repairing damaged tissue. Work out all areas of your body not just isolated muscle groups to 'shock' your body into action.
muscle mass is in my genes. i did 4 days of push ups ad i now have 1 and 1/2 inches added to my chest desity. the first workout i was able to do 100 push ups the second (after rest 2 days) i want up to 130. 30% increase from one workout is alot to me. i am not sure if it is considered though.
@momosaf yer theres two types of abbs Symmetric and Asymmetric
symetric abbs are what you usually expect to see, 3 rows of two abbs 'symmetrical'
Asymmetric abbs (what i have) is when they have a kind of zig zag pattern up your body, they are normal and are down to genetics. search asametric abbs and a whole load of bodybuilders have them.
@HakuCell Thanks for watching! Good question - since this program is designed for hypertrophy (muscle size) and not pure strength, we are sticking with the ideal rest time of 30 - 45 seconds for hypertrophy. If we were focused only on strength training (like increasing your bench max) then we'd certainly want longer rest periods. A great resource on rest periods and lifting in general is Ripptoes 'Practical Programming' which you can check out on Amazon if you'd like. Hope that helps!
@traceur4God Hey thanks for watching - at 14 I'd imagine you're going to be better off with bodyweight exercises, bodyweight dips, push-ups and such. You should get your parents to ask your family doctor for the best advice at your age

NickjaBoysInc 6 months ago
@MRxHYPEZz Yes protein after working out is very important! May want to check with your family doctor to make sure shakes are ok for you
theworkoutcorner 6 months ago
@theworkoutcorner I'm sorry, I know you're the health guru here but you need protein equal times around 6 times a day. Not just one massive dose followed by minuscule dose's.

Thicame3 6 months ago
@Thicame3 Some programs for building overall mass sounds like a good idea, thumbs up if that's something you're interested in
theworkoutcorner 6 months ago 21
@theworkoutcorner if i were you i wouldnt even bother buying any sorts of clothing that covers up above the waist
dingdongditcher69 6 months ago
@Thicame3 Deadlifts and lots of them, don't try force your appetite too much, count your calories and see what you need in supplements and you'll find your appetite growing after a few weeks training.
Frenchdayz 6 months ago
@Frenchdayz problem is not my appetite!!!! Its that i dont get weight! make1 years and i always weight 120 ! but i eat lot cauz i got a very good appetite but still i dont see a change
Thicame3 6 months ago
@Thicame3 If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. You won't grow muscle mass unless your body thinks you need it, so by 'pushing for the burn' you damage muscle tissue and your body responds by releasing muscle building hormones and repairing damaged tissue. Work out all areas of your body not just isolated muscle groups to 'shock' your body into action.

@Frenchdayz sound good :o thank you very much :)

@Thicame3 ask your parents? Milk is good for you, I'm sure they wont reject.

muscle mass is in my genes. i did 4 days of push ups ad i now have 1 and 1/2 inches added to my chest desity. the first workout i was able to do 100 push ups the second (after rest 2 days) i want up to 130. 30% increase from one workout is alot to me. i am not sure if it is considered though.

Can you tell me why my abs are weird looking. Like one is lower than the other. Thanks!
momosaf 6 months ago
@momosaf yer theres two types of abbs Symmetric and Asymmetric
symetric abbs are what you usually expect to see, 3 rows of two abbs 'symmetrical'
Asymmetric abbs (what i have) is when they have a kind of zig zag pattern up your body, they are normal and are down to genetics. search asametric abbs and a whole load of bodybuilders have them.
HidingZebraTube 6 months ago
@HidingZebraTube thanks but is there a solution to make them be symmetrical? Or it'S my genetics and I can't change it?

@mrjohnjo10 Yes - building muscle raises your overall metabolism so if your diet is right it will definitely help you lose some fat

aren't those rest times a bit too short for such a heavy workout?
HakuCell 6 months ago
@HakuCell Thanks for watching! Good question - since this program is designed for hypertrophy (muscle size) and not pure strength, we are sticking with the ideal rest time of 30 - 45 seconds for hypertrophy. If we were focused only on strength training (like increasing your bench max) then we'd certainly want longer rest periods. A great resource on rest periods and lifting in general is Ripptoes 'Practical Programming' which you can check out on Amazon if you'd like. Hope that helps!

@theworkoutcorner thanks, good answer! I'll keep that in mind.

qwertaberta 6 months ago
@traceur4God Hey thanks for watching - at 14 I'd imagine you're going to be better off with bodyweight exercises, bodyweight dips, push-ups and such. You should get your parents to ask your family doctor for the best advice at your age
