I'm sure that multi-arcade cabinet plays most games beautifully but the vector games like this one sure look bad. Lacking a vector display probably has something to do with that but also in this example it appears that the emulated resolution is quite lower than what this monitor is capable of.
Finding one in the arcades that actually worked was an achievement in itself. The hardware in them was extremely prone to overheating and they were forever breaking down.
Brilliant game, and as per several Atari games from that era, never the same when reproduced for other systems, coz you really need that original controller.
Cool review here John, I know they has this at the Pinball Hall Of Fame in Vegas when we were there, you also can't forget Black Widow, that's a very under rated game too = )
I've actually played the arcade in real life and it's amazing, I think vector graphics withstand the testament of time, this game is awesome the sega saturn tempest 2000 is great as well. Nice review gamester .
i have never played an arcade machine of tempest. i have however played this on "Atari's Arcade Classics" on my old Windows 98 machine. It was a little weird playing with a mouse but tempest became one of my top favorite arcade games that wasn't made by namco (since i loved playing dig dug, pac man, and pole position at my old camp)
@theunknowngamer48 The original game used vector graphics, so the lines did not have the aliasing you see in his multi-arcade version. Looked sharper.
Is this on your multi-arcade or on your star wars vector screen? Definitely a sweet game, great graphics for the time. Wish I could have this on my mame arcade but I don't have a spinner knob set up for it.
Love this Game!! plus I can't watch one of my fav movies of the 80s "night of the comet" without having to play tempest right after lol :)

Watching this because I just read Ready Player One. Awesome book, and judging from the video, it must be a very fun/addicting game

I need to track down some version of this at some point.
Is there any way for your to be louder, Gamester? I noticed in a lot of your arcade videos you are a little quiet.

I need to find the Tempest game that was released on the PSone; it's a shame the 7800 never got a release of this game :)

Tempest is one of those games that seems very simple in concept but is quite difficult when it actually comes to play it.
