i looove this version! kate gives me goosebumps, completely adore her and her voice.. i love the bass in this song and i love the slight groove to it :D especially the bass how its just so simple and how it picks up toward the chorus..tis gR8!
The Kate Bush version of Rocket Man is considered one of the best covers ever produced. It received wide recognition as such and definitely stands the test of time. If she ever decided to do her own interpretation of "Mary Had a Little Lamb," I have NO doubt it would be a musical masterpiece. Terrific vocals here with just the right whimsical treatment and instrumentation. Kate's brilliance will continue to shine long after the rest of us are gone.
agree completely! Shes a blooming genius! Love the candle and guitar on the chair for one of the band who died from an AIDS related illness. I've tried to get this track form itunes and its not there :-(
To be honest the original is far better .... Mind you don't have me wrong ... Kate is a brilliant singer ... but I think that this she doesn't do justice to the song and nor does the song do her justice .... It just looks out of place she doesnt fit in this one.... She got loads of other songs that she shines in them....
I remember seeing this video as a kid and loving it then. it is one of my favorite KB songs and is way better than the original version I reckon. That looks like Davey Spillane playing the Ullian (sp?)cpipesthanks for posting it.
fab fun gorgeous lovely amazing and touching too, kate is and has always been all of these things and this little gem of a video just does it for me over and over. i love it!
In 1990, Kate Bush released a single called 'Rocket Man', recorded in 1989 and featuring Alan Murphy on acoustic guitar (possibly one of the last things he recorded?) Significantly, the video for this single featured an empty chair with a guitar on it. Murphy died of Aids just prior to the video shoot.

Great version - lovely to see the guitar and candle for Alan Murphy. A great guitarist who is sorely missed. RIP.

I was going to give this chick the benefit of a doubt, but the Ukulele killed it for me.
No seriously, this is a terrible cover.

Something went wrong with this album.
I hate Bush fans not admitting this.
If you do an effort you can like any kind of music.

Who're those other two women? I know they're doing backup, but are they any specifically known group of people?

Lovely version. :) I suppose that Marilyn Monroe in "Some like it hot" inspired her in some way (the "Running wild" song scene in a train).

An image of Alan, lifted from Level 42's "Take A Look" video, can be seen passing at 3:30.
RIP Alan.
P.S. I think Kate looks particularly gorgeous in this video ;o)
