Hello everyone, this is my friend's youtube ID so I'm using it for now.
My name is Shannon and I'm the president for this year's UCLA KASA.
It may be hard for some of you to believe, but this is my first time reading all of the following posts. A friend told me that this this page existed and that there was a lot of talk back and forth. I went through all 7 pages and read through everyone's comments.
This is going to be a bit long, so if any one cares to read, just go for it. I wanted to clarify things instead of random people, who have never been part of the creating or organizing process of Danceoff, spitting things they don't understand.
Judges are the presidents of the non-participating schools, no matter what their relationship with the other presidents of the KASAs are. They're not SELECTED to be judges. KASA is a large network of people that include each other's friends, boyfriends/girlfriends and family so coincidences like this simply happen. Because of this, all 5 judges ALSO happen to be best friends or just as close as a family with the people of the other competing schools.
2. Judges's Decision - This is the simple fact: UCI won by points. UCLA won by judges's vote. In this competition, points matter. Forget the oxymoronic process and the complicated after-thought.
Dance-off is over, and by watching the video performance, then you can clearly see who the winner really is in your own little world. For now, forget the convoluted mess people's opinions have caused. Alot of UCLA-ers and UCI-ers have a good relationship as well as myself with UCI's president and staff. I don't want it to be saturated with the heaviness of Danceoff.
Congratulations to UCI, because you guys were impressive. As for my UCLA freshmen, just remember what your coordinator, choreographers and friends told you. Like I said, people still approach me to this day raving and crowing about how awesome you guys were.
Professional dancers for sell-out artists and prestigious performers from well-established professional dance groups still compliment about your technicality and cleanliness and the enthusiasm you guys showed for your team, for each individual teammate and for KASA.
3. Other schools - I really think this thing between UCLA & UCI is retarded. It has overshadowed the hard work and heart the other competing schools had. I know UCR, UCSD, USC and Cal State Long Beach worked extremely hard for their routine. I say the real props go to those school's dancers, staff, presidents and choreographers/coordinators.
The four of them had to stand in the back while idiots from UCLA and UCI duke it out. I've been part of Danceoff for a long time and I have NEVER seen those other schools step it up as they did this year. They were clearly impressive and did alot better than the previous years. Congratulations especially to Riverside! =) Placing this year out of the other highly competitive schools was really great and I was very proud of my sister and the rest of your Freshmen Dancers.
Awrite, here it is, it's all out straight from my mouth. Now you all you youngns can shut up and study. Finals are in 3 days. FAWK -_-. Good luck other KASAs for the rest of the year! I hope your freshmen dancers are still good friends with one another and I hope they got to know the other freshmen from the other schools because after all, that was the whole point =). Once the official dance-off dvd made by Kenny is released, you guys can watch and decide for yourselves. Like i said before, the opportunity was there for any of you to come out to the sckcsa meeting and express your opinions. UCR's choreographer came and made excellent points and constructive criticisms. Thank you.

outro choreography was by Steve Terada from Quest, myself, and JD McElroy from Groovaloos.with that being said, WHO CARES?!?! it's not even a real dance competition. we call it a "DANCEOFF" yet NONE of the judges are real dancers. which is why funny things like UCIs dance when they use those ribbons is ALLOWED. u think real dance competitions would really stand for that? of course not, but who cares, it's in good fun. shiet, i'm from UCLA and i was laughing my ass off.
3) in fact, i'm the one who choreographed that part of the routine. if it WAS offensive to ANYONE from UCI, my sincerest apologies. it wasn't meant to bag on the actual girl who did it but as a dancer, i think using choreography from You Got Served every single year DESERVES to get made fun of.
2) the rules NEVER state that we could not make fun of the other schools. i'm assuming the ppl who are saying "it's a low blow" are either freshmen, or are ppl who've only been to ONE danceoff. making fun of other schools are done in good spirit, and if someone is butt hurt by it then they need to get their KASA history straight. UCI and UCLA are obviously the big competitors cuz we're the only two schools that have been doing it for the past 10 years.
people people why so much hate/discouraging comments! be mature and lets give ucla big props for even doing it! half the people who write these negative stuff on this wall probably arent even dancers..sheesh.
The dilemma with how what the judges decided differed with the results announced is not a rumor. If you would like to hear more about it, you can always talk to a chongdae staff. Note that this does not take away from UCI being labeled as first place because that was how it was announced at danceoff. But, again, it is not a rumor and it did happen.
