  • whats the llrc? and where is the irrigation system today???

  • BILLLLLEEEEEEEE !!!!! and Hershey! and Dino!

    I miss youse guys :)

    much aloha to all

  • what is this?

  • It is an ancient archeological makahiki site, for the ancient festival of sports and religious festivities, beginning in mid October and lasting about four months.

  • im pretty sure this heiau is directly behing brennekes resturant. and i doubt 30,000 hawaiians lived in poipu i mean i bet it was hard to live there b/c there wasnt much of a water recourse and there still isnt today.

  • Actually the Hawaiians had a very extensive irrigation system and IIRC, the surrounding area was the "breadbasket" of Kauai, and Poipu was densely populated. This heiau area could be said to be the town center.

  • @poipustory - one of its many functions. There are loko 'ia, lo'i kalo, astronomical alighnments, gathering place for the surrounding ahupua'a, and most likely many functions we're not familiar with yet. Time to come back to life... much mālama happening there these days.
