To be truthful, I've NEVER seen anyone teach it in this way; I'm not sure why you would have to go "back" to create the shimmy motion, when you can bend your knees and tighten the obliques instead, weight on the same leg. It seems like this shifting the weight onto the "back" leg would also get in the way of speeding this up, or using it for full locomotion in one direction. That's normally how I've seen it performed. Is this maybe a case of "different move, same name" perhaps?
This is not like any 3/4 shimmy I've ever seen, anywhere. It looks very awkward.

Video is of no use if we can't see your whole body, ie: where your legs/feet are positioned with respect to the rest of the body and the moves!!!
