I can say from my experience I have not ever attempted to make anyone or push items on anyone. I give out free samples and go from there. If they are interested they will call and I have had a few parties and have never pushed the join and you will well on their way. I enjoy selling and if one does not want to purchase I am not hurt by this, I just hope they know if they ever decide to buy without the pressure they know my information.
Christians should be on guard with MLM teaching. I was involved for 4 yrs and never heard anything close to... “Take care, & be on your guard against all covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”Lk12:15 "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have..."Heb13:5 "...I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content."Phil4:11 "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils...1Tim6:10
Thank you for both all of the negative and positive comments. I lost a few friends to Mary Kay because I didn't buy their products, of course one could argue if you break off a friendship because someone doesn't buy your poducts then you're not a friend. If you sell or buy MK and haven't experienced this, then you are lucky.
While I find this video very funny this is not how Mary Kay beauty consultants are. I am in Mary Kay for the 2nd time in 5 years and I enjoy it. No one had been pushy or disrespectful. It is a fallacy to say ALL Mary Kay ladies are this way. I havent met one like this.
@ellesprettyinpink I'm impressed. This is the ONLY behavior I've seen and every script I've ever heard from the consultant who lives next to my sister in law and is CONSTANTLY trying to recruit me since I'm a makeup junkie.
@ellesprettyinpink, the higher up the career ladder one goes, the more one will see it. As a rule, ranks below director generally don't see the bulk of the buggery that goes on in the higher levels.
@Inhisgrace01, how do you know that the nice pool and the house didn't come as a result of her husband's income? Besides, having a nice pool and a house proves nothing. Plenty of people have nice pools and homes but are in debt past their ears, and Mary Kay directors and NSDs are no different.
I am sorry you had this experience. But this isn't how Mary Kay teaches our consultants to work their business. This is NOT a clear example of how things work in Mary Kay. If you aren't interested, your friend should have taken that as an answer and let you wrinkle.
@megmarykay1, I don't know how long you've been in, but it's actually quite accurate except for the "whole group of MK ladies on the front lawn part." Mary Kay teaches consultants to recruit anything with a pulse because it's the only way you're ever going to move up the career ladder. Selling product will make you very little money and net you zero promotions.
@JavaGypsy14, don't forget to factor in your 60/40 split out of that grand, as well as those pesky expenses. So that being said, $600 goes back into your inventory, $400 is what's left, and expenses come out of that, which may or may not include: Samples and supplies, gifts with purchase, training/events, postage and shipping, packaging, business supplies, advertising, auto expenses, and child care. So in conclusion, no, you did not make $1000 in profit. You didn't even come close.
@megmarykay1 How DOES your unit teach you to work "YOUR" business? It is not YOUR business. And it never will be. But I am very interested to hear the way you feel is the Mary Kay Way....signed, a Former IBC for some time.
@megmarykay1 You're too funny! Mary Kay product are sub standard and overpriced for what they are. ROC makes better anti aging products than Mary Kay and I'll take Coastal Scents and Sephora's house brand over the shit Mary Kay puts out any day of the week.
The dialogue in this video is EXACTLY what was used on me by a so-called "friend" (over a period of time). The deception, the sales pitch, the glorifying of Mary Kay, the manipulation of friendships...the tactics are very, very cultish. Buyer beware!!

Sad, this is exactly how Mary Kaybots are....the ones extremely invested, a lot of their income is dependent on recruits.
