all i know...the WH ... is probably wise to stay on the sidelines until the conference, but if it appears that they are the ones that eventually bring the bill down because they manage to dump the public plan...the bill should be rightly killed at that point and the fallout will not be able to be overcome for the WH...i am hoping they are smarter than Chuck Todd

What a disaster the WH has created. That's what happens when you have the liberal left dictating what's best for the country. Since the majority want health care reform, and not a health care overhaul, the liberals in congress are now resorting to calling the "Public Option" all kinds of different names, and trying "tuck" it in, in the last minute. Bottom line, the democrats have lost a lot of credibility with the voters and will face an uphill battle to regain that credibility.

White House is being disgraceful. Behind the scenes they want a trigger that will likely never get pulled. Then Voters come out in full force pressuring congress for a public option. When it looks like a Public Option might happen the White House comes out in half-ass support "oh yeah, WE'RE DOWN FOR THE PUBLIC OPTION TOO GUYS LOL" yet they still prefer a trigger. can't play both sides, Obama. Either go with the progressives or get with the centrists so you can have your precious Snowe vote.

After so many years of the GOP ramming through their bills with little to no opposition, I had forgotten just how distasteful our country's law making process is (like the sausage making it's always compared with). At least the lawmakers are actually discussing some of the important matters here. The Patriot Bill could've used more discussion (& more dithering). It's said that a good bill is a compromise that pisses all sides off. I'm getting pissed over this, so maybe that's a good thing. :-/

Did Democrats contribute anything to the Patriot Bill? No. As I said, the GOP rammed their bills through, the Patriot Bill included, with little to no opposition. The spineless Dems offered no resistance, doing as they were told or expected under threat of their patriotism being called into question.
