I tried rewatching the original after watching the prequel and frankly I found it wasn't nearly as scary as I remembered... And as far as the special effects go they looked pretty dated to me to be honest. That's nostalgia for ya I guess...

The prequel was far from perfect and it wasn't really all that creepy at all but some of the special effects were pretty awesome imho.
