  • Wow`

  • So thats what a medalist looks like on the inside, I love how loud these hard drives are.

  • oh THATs whats makin that sound in my computer :O

  • seagate HDD ?

  • is that real time i was pretty sure it was but it's never bad to ask

  • Yep, it is real time!

  • very nice sound, and drive!

  • HDs are amazing, but truthfully it is old and unreliable technology and we will soon be moving away from "moving" storage. Hard drive failure rates have risen dramatically over time due more HD users and the poorer quality of the HDs themselves. The HD industry is now more about profits than quality because this "disc" industry is soon over, that's why we see so many batches of 500GB and 1TB drives that are DOA. Hopefully SSD technology will advance quickly and prices will not be too ridiculous

  • i have a 1tb wd and hitachi... they function fine. however seagate and maxtor suck..... trust wd if you cant trust anything else...

  • @ApocalypticMetalHead Yea I want an SSD but a 64GB SSD it over $100.... I want then to drop the prices..

  • Sweet, now i know whats happening inside my hard disk when i hear it clicking away......cool vid.....

  • Personally, I think Hard Drives are an incredible feat of engineering, and it is amazing that humans are able to build something of this magnitude. I recently visited a Seagate factory in Minnesota for school, and the only thing that the whole factory made was the read/write heads. Tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars worth of equipment to produce, what appears to be, little black specks.

  • I can never figure out why they are so loud, I thinks because of that electromagint that chatters. Ive took alot of HDDs apart mostly Quantums and Seagates. (Those to brands are junk) If your lookin to buy a HDD then buy a Western Digital there the best !!!!

  • its due to the fact that the voice coil moves so fast the speed at which it starts and stops is near on instantanious - causing a "sound beat". thats what makes that clicking noise. its the same as if you were to put a square wave through the speaker.

  • so thats what that noise is

  • The noise reminds me of a typewriter.

  • my laptop hdd is like that except 500gb
