I'm ashamed to say I had no idea who she was until I came across PC2 while flippin thru the channels one night, man I just melted in my seat, tears running down my face. The big guy in the sky, yeah, he had something to do with this, thank you GOD!

katrina inspires me so much. i just heard of her a couple of weeks ago and i still can't get her voice out of my head. i want to hear more from her! this girl should be taking home Female vocalist of the year, etc at the CMAs and ACM's not half the people winning. Don't get me wrong, but katrina just blows a majority of singers out of the water. she deserves SO MUCH MORE recognition

actually.. this song was released in 2006.. it was a decent hit for her, but she was overlooked in general. How, Ill never know. my band covered this song back in 2007. A set of pipes like hers doesnt come around very often.. I feel every note she sings. Lets hope she gets a second chance because of this movie.

What I can't believe is that Katrina isn't already a household name. She is as good as Faith Hill and better than Julianne Hough.  Saw her in Pure Country 2 and was absolutely amazed with both her singing and her acting talent. Of course, it's obvious that singing is the stronger talent. I would love to see and hear more of her.

What a voice! Why have I never heard of this woman before? I went to a Carrie Underwood video of "Flat On The Floor", and someone mentioned that Katrina Elam was the original recorder of that song...so I had to youtube her. This is what I got. But I can't find flat on the floor?? This lady is amazing and I cannot fathom the fact that she is not a superstar. She is amazing!

The thing I especially like more about Elam is her songwriting abilities which, in my opinion, are far superior to Underwood's.

@SUNSNARE06 I knew that Elam co-wrote "Change" and, around the time Underwood's album that featured that song came out, I found a version Elam recorded here on YouTube. Anyway, I don't believe she co-wrote it, but I also found a version of "Flat On the Floor" by Elam that was supposed to be on her unreleased sophomore album. But, yeah--Elam's got a great voice and some great songwriting skills as well...seems quite rare nowadays.

@ukaserex When "Love Is" was originally released back in '06 (and the video as well), it was to promote what would have been her second album. Unfortunately, Universal Records South ended up letting Elam go and, because of that, Elam's second album was never released. Now, thanks to her being in the movie Pure Country 2, Elam has released another album on some other label. Once again, however, she's going unnoticed for the most part.

@57canyon Quite recently, Elam starred and provided all the songs to the soundtrack of the movie Pure Country 2 (you might remember the original Pure Country film which starred George Strait). Anyway, from what I understand, Strait makes an appearance, albeit a short one. Of course, she did get dropped from her label before her second album was released ("Love Is" was the first single off that album) and, because of that, the album was never released.

It is astounding that a tremendous talent like Katrina hasn't made it huge. IMO, she is as good of a singer as Carrie and as good of a writer as Taylor. She just hasn't hit that niche or clique or had the right push, which is a shame.

@Mopar21277 To be honest, I'd say that Elam is a much better songwriter than Taylor Swift. I mean, Swift tends to write songs that seem like they're written by a 12-year-old (even the ones Swift wrote more recently). I'd also say that, even though Underwood's a great vocalist, I just like Elam's voice better (I'd say that, technically speaking, they're both pretty much on the same level as vocalists though).

I still can't believe that Elam lost her record deal though.
