We call it "música tropical" In fact, Pérez Prado recorded his greatest mambos in Mexico with a mix of cuban and mexican musicians. In every moderately-sized mexican city you will find stations that play this kind of music. I guess mexican stations in the States cater to paisanos who are nostalgic about regional mexican music, and they don't play afro-latin music because there's plenty of other stations that do.

I was at the concert on 10/30, they were so much fun, our drummer actually got to play timboli (i think thats what its called) for a bit. They were really good.
yeah it was, our group was the one with the guy who had that really long question that made no sense about the timbalas (he was also the ones who played). We also had the question on the mouthpiece, good times XD .
I did go to the concert, Fannytastic, these guys are a class act. When I arrived, the first band was playing Ran Kan Kan. I thought it was the recording by Tito Puente. Was I surprised when I realized it was live! That warm up band was great and the performances by both were superb. Unbelievable!

I just got back from playing at that Latin Jazz festival with Salsa del Rio. I saw them the night before. Pure FIRE!!!!! These guys are nothing but the best of salsa musicians! I cant wait to see them again!

Una de las canciones mas populares de Willie Colon "Llegó la banda", resultó ser un plagio, la cual fue compuesta por un Peruano de apellido Fuentes, el cual luego de 35 años, logró que la compañía disquera de Willie Colon, llegara a un acuerdo con este, para pagarle 50 mil dolares, y poner el nombre del compositor peruano, en los discos en donde Willie Colon grabe dicha canción, a partir de ahora. El compositor peruano registró los derechos en 1973, mientras que Willie Colon en 1974.
Al Cesar lo que es del Cesar. El talento de Lavoe para cantar! . Por otro lado Willie Colon es un magnifico trombonista. Pero la mente y sabor creador de este tema pertenece al peruano Walter Fuentes. (Que bueno que Colon reconocio! Ahora hay que caballeros "materializar" la disculpa y poner los dolares sobre la mesa. 50K por 30 anos de fama y lujo, no es nada. Por lo menos deberia ser 500K)
No exactamente, esto fue un acuerdo conociéndose los dos y compartiendo la autoría. La versión de Fuentes es una versión simplificada de la de Colón. Fuentes rimó Salsa con Salsa para que vea lo buen compositor que es. Fuentes en una corte pierde.
Yo estuve en ese concierto, fue en Montreal, Canada para el JazzFest. Estuvo cheverisimo! Espero que se repita porque desde que vinieron no ha habido nada parecido. Los salseros de Montreal estamos esperando al Spanish Harlem con ansias!!!
Me encantaría ver a estos tipos en vivo. Existe la energía es increíble. Me encantó todos los cuernos en la canción. Las bailarinas son un buen toque también. No es de extrañar que el número de aficionados que había en los miles.

Yo estuve en ese tremendo concierto en el Montreal Jazz Fest. Fue espectacular! Spanish Harlem Orchestra se botó. Espero regresen muy pronto a Montreal talvez para la 30 edicion del Jazz Fest en 2009.

I just got back from playing at that Latin Jazz festival with Salsa del Rio. I saw them the night before. Pure FIRE!!!!! These guys are nothing but the best of salsa musicians! I cant wait to see them again!

Hermano, la informacion que tengo acerca de willie Colon es que fue operado de emergencia de la apendice. Aqui en Caracas tambien lo estabamos esperando. Cuando se recupere va a retomar su gira ya que el saco un nuevo disco que se llama El Malo 2. saludos desde venezuela.

Las canciones por años solo generaron menos de un centavo de dolar por cada disco vendido. No se cuanto sea por cada vez que se toca en el radio pero solo son centavos. Cuantos millones de discos se vendieron para que 50 mil dolares sea una miseria?
Esa cancion es conocida, si, pero nunca fue un hitazo. Por cierto, desde cuando o en que planeta es una de las candiones mas conocidas de Willie? Es bien facil hablar babosadas

Una de las canciones mas populares de Willie Colon "Llegó la banda", resultó ser un plagio, la cual fue compuesta por un Peruano de apellido Fuentes, el cual luego de 35 años, logró que la compañía disquera de Willie Colon, llegara a un acuerdo con este, para pagarle 50 mil dolares, y poner el nombre del compositor peruano, en los discos en donde Willie Colon grabe dicha canción, a partir de ahora. El compositor peruano registró los derechos en 1973, mientras que Willie Colon en 1974.

Al Cesar lo que es del Cesar. El talento de Lavoe para cantar! . Por otro lado Willie Colon es un magnifico trombonista. Pero la mente y sabor creador de este tema pertenece al peruano Walter Fuentes. (Que bueno que Colon reconocio! Ahora hay que caballeros "materializar" la disculpa y poner los dolares sobre la mesa. 50K por 30 anos de fama y lujo, no es nada. Por lo menos deberia ser 500K)

No exactamente, esto fue un acuerdo conociéndose los dos y compartiendo la autoría. La versión de Fuentes es una versión simplificada de la de Colón. Fuentes rimó Salsa con Salsa para que vea lo buen compositor que es. Fuentes en una corte pierde.

Yo estuve en ese concierto, fue en Montreal, Canada para el JazzFest. Estuvo cheverisimo! Espero que se repita porque desde que vinieron no ha habido nada parecido. Los salseros de Montreal estamos esperando al Spanish Harlem con ansias!!!

Yo estuve en ese tremendo concierto en el Montreal Jazz Fest. Fue espectacular! Spanish Harlem Orchestra se botó. Espero regresen muy pronto a Montreal talvez para la 30 edicion del Jazz Fest en 2009.
