The reason I prefer Kate Winslet's Ophelia to any other Ophelia is because Kate fits the innocence and loveliness of the character even when she's playing Ophelia as mad. This is a great performance but it doesn't remind me of Ophelia.

Saw Mariah Gale in Romeo and Juliet on Thursday, she was absoloutley brilliant. She really captured Juliet's innocence and childishness. That play had a number of stellar performances n fact, in particular Jonjo O'Neill's Mercutio, Joseph Arkley's and Tybalt, Dumezweni's Nurse.

I prefer this Ophelia, because she is completely mad, not like the others I've seen who are just sort of mad but not really. Mariah Gale is great because you just don't know what she is going to next and she makes you feel like you're there. She sets you on edge!

I don't know, it seems almost as though the actress is disconnected from the character, but I'll give her props because I'm sure that this scene isn't particularly easy at all.

Just seen her a Juliet tonight in Romeo and Juliet by the RSC, and she was absolutely AMAZING!!!!!! She really shone, and delivered such a clever and heartbreaking performance! i will be looking out to see what she does next, but in the mean time EVERYONE GO AND SEE HER AT THE ROUNDHOUSE!!!!! Brilliant production, with a fantastic cast all round!

I've never shed tears when watching an Ophelia, until seeing this performance by Mariah Gale. Superlative.
