back in the 90s took a shit load of acid put the lava lamp on and this cd and traveled for 9 hours non stop best trip i ever had ,,,peace out one love
Hi thank you very much for getting back to me. I love the video so much I dragged my wife in t see it. From what you wrote I assume you filmed using NTSC rather than PAL which is what I use. What editing program did you use? After a bit of trial and error I have ended up using Final Cut, the main reason for that was because I found that Mac was more stable than my PC. Once again thank you. Peace and love to you and yours.
@OrpheusIsThe1 Thanks for responding! This project was a labor of love. We shot 200ft of 16mm on a Bolex, and yes, in NTSC (I have produced a feature film in PAL DV - we shot pal so when it converts to film, no frames are "lost" like in the NTSC film conversion. We made it on a little iMac - the one that looks like hald an eggshell on the desk with a monitor coming up from it) My editing style really cant be done professionally with the new FinalCut X,
@OrpheusIsThe1 Thank you for sharing this with your family. I have a channel on youtube "neversaynevercomm" It has a few projects I directed (in the Director's Reel Playlist) as well as several music vids and commercials I produced for other directors ((in the Producer's's Reel Playlist) send me a private message and I'll link you to my vimeo page, which has the feature film etc Peace brotha!
Was looking for it when i came across AKSELECTS TALVIN SINGH/ANOKHA SPOTSMEU on You Tube-it's the visuals that were created for Anoka club, rembering seeing them most Monday Nights.
Only thing is: it suggests the Anokha Album is all Talvin-and I love Talvin's music BUT the Anokha Album is A COMPILATION Album & features tracks & Artists that MADE ANOKHA along side Talvin.
This Track & State Of Bengal IC408 were the defining tracks of a movement.
I remember seeing this on MTV Amp. had the cd,but lost it and other stuff due to a tornado in my hometown. finally happy to hear him again!! Had some friends from India( a certain person F.M) that told me what the lyrics were.
Cannot believe it is a year since I last had this magnificent piece sent my way by a true Angel gifted from afar. Hauntingly beautiful chilling the core of my soul with beauty. The language and the beat reach within reactivating my DNA.. Lovingness pours from my Soul. <3 ;-)
I like the end how the women walk around the circle and it does the time flash that wasnt on the MTV amp show all those years ago. Why did they cut the end?
Amar, voice of an angel. What Happened to her? Saw her perform this with Talvin Singh at the Anokha Club nites. I remember the vibe was out there. They were brill. Talvin use to do some fierce Tabla Solo's. Man, no ones doing nothing good anymore. Not like that anyway. they had everyone pass through their doors. I happened to be there when tricky suddenly got up on the mic & sang. Think he was mixing it up with State Of Bengal. Ok, I gotta go hear the rest of tracks from the comp now!
Akho seh door na ho = "don't leave sight of my eyes (or don't leave me)"
Uter Jaye ga = "It will wear off" (personally i never was a fan of this line in this track, to me it never sounded right, i think it was just added as filler)
This is so beautiful, I learned about Raga' and the sound used in composing such a work of art, Being American, well It really is very difficult to follow the difficult progressions, But it is a work out for the voice, in my voice healing I have reached notes way out of my range, Relaxing I say allowed this to be done. Love How music that reachs the heart so much is composed, NO wonder it speaks to your soul like this fantastic example of a special gift to the people. Thanks to My Dear Friend!
@neversaynevercomm What intrigues me more than your production and direction is who was the guy that edited this video because that's where the real artistry of it comes into it's own. Without such a good editor I think this wouldn't have been anywhere near as good
@OrpheusIsThe1 Its a long explanation about how we made this. The idea was to make the video like he makes electronica or when he DJs. We wanted to only shoot twenty minutes of film, like a hook or sample in the song. Then we reshot oit through blurry glass, with the same time code in minutes, seconds and frames, but starting in hour 2. So when you put both video trackes under each other, they have the same time code from minutes to frames, but each layer gets its own new "hour"
@OrpheusIsThe1 Reply Part 2. So then you have just a few minutes of raw film which has been reshot into different looking layers. Then comes the fun part..... It's really like djing or re-mixing between the layers of the same footage looking different in each layer. Then it's easy to edit even down to a 1/30th of a second throughout the whole vid without blowing up the editing computer. Most movies have less than 1500 edits in them. This video had 3400 technically...
I LOVE this song and this video - this was the first song i ever heard/watched as a kid years ago that got me into Drum & Bass, trip-hop and all that..So many memories!
Thanks for uploading! Amazing - this is the tune that got it all started for me - Karsh, Punditz, Nitin Sawney, Bombay Dub, Anoushka, all crazy good stuff!
