  • Thierry PRUVOST said that there are 5 principal styles of BAI HE MEN :

    Fei He Quan (flying crane)

    Zhu He Quan (nest crane)

Shi He Quan (feeding/eating crane) : my style ^^

    Ming He Quan (singing crane)

Zong He Quan (synthesis crane of the 4 style above).

Can you confirm that he's right or are there others crane style ?

I want to know every crane style. Even if I practice one I want to learn about all the other style. I think they are complementary.

Thank you a lot for reading/answering me ^^.

  • @undaverse those are all of em. but you may confuse different sifu's by calling them by those names. due to the oral tradition of most martial arts all the specifics get lost in translation or are lost period. luckily many sifu's of the past have kept it all on record. but as i was saying as far as i know

    Flying: stage performing

Feeding: well....you know that one n im not letting the cat out the bag

Blind/Sleeping/Nesting Crane: Sensory training, meditation, etc

    Calling/Singing: The foundation

  • @Bagface what do u mean flying crane stage performing the flying crane is a very respected system it is very agressive and have many weapons youtube flying crane under grandmaster Lee joo chian and master lorne bernard .

  • @W4EAN many weapons you say? Strange. The main weapons of white crane are Staff, what the Japaneses refer to as a Sai, butterfly swords, and a select few others. Im afraid traditionally. Many has nothing to do with it. Im not saying flying crane is not a respectable system but it is not traditionally meant for combat. The other three chapters of White Crane yes. But I'm afraid Flying Crane is for stage performing. Nothing wrong with that. F.C is responsible for keeping ppl's interest

  • Hi !

We have to talk toghether !

I practicing Feeding/eating crane since 7 years with Thierry SAELENS who represent sifu Liu Chang I.

A friend of Thierry SAELENS who practice Taïtsu (Thierry PRUVOST), have made some research about the different branches of the BAi HE QUAN style

He said that there were 5 principal styles coming from Fujian.

  • Tanks agin have been looking for this liu chang uncle for awhile is ther a family tree????

  • what is the name of this form?

  • hey this is an awesome footage, just one comment their is 4 original branches of fujian white crane, whooping crane and sleeping crane are the same style, also they didn't come from yongchun white crane. they were formed by the 4 disciples of fang chi nian..

  • Isn't the angle battle fist?

  • Shihe Jiao Zhan Quan(Feeding Crane Strikes with Claws Set)

  • Amazing footage, great style

  • I agree, this is a very nice compact little form. I'd love to see the applications for this one.

  • This is the angle fist form--Lots of good applications of the Water Hand and the Fire Hand. I am studying the Feeding Crane under Liu Chang I, with help from Kimo Wall Sensei and Dan Smith Sensei. We are currently doing 10 applications for the water Hand and the Fire Hand. Great historical footage here. You have to see Liu Chang I (age 47) do this form.
