@bassonmyolmonster It wasn't me that started calling the boats with coiled steam engines, just as the membrane type pop pop boats. After probably more than a hundred years, many accept the name "pop pop" for both types. The coiled type too has the typical intermittent propulsion. When it touches the bath sides you actually hear it.
In its more than a hundred years of existence the name pop pop has been commonly used for the coiled steam engines also, even as this type do not really pop.

Check the link in the description and you won't have to guess.

No one has yet thought of the engine for a toy boat that I came up with years ago.
the emulsion dispersion engine would be for very small toy boats the size of a match box but would travel much faster than a pop pop.

Do you mean something like the campher boats people used to make?
masynmachien 2 years ago
I am not aware of a campher boat
johnnecron 2 years ago
Sorry, I mean camphor boats. You can find info on them on the internet.

This kind of boat (with a coiled engine rather than a soldered "membrane") does not make much sound.
The name pop-pop might be somewhat stretched, but it still belongs to that category of propulsion.
