  • interesting version

  • IM PROUD TO BE MUSLIM

  • @kensukekudo1 Oh stop

  • @nicnikkiz i dont wan stop

  • I went to church and my Sunday was bright, man.

  • perfect song and perfect voice....

  • she's so pretty

  • I'm playing her songs at both my wedding and funeral.....Though it'll be a while before either of those can happen.

  • Comment removed

  • Even though Brightman's version is not that depressing, but I think her voice does have its own compatibility with this song because she has such a darkly sad quality in her singing. So I say that she is the perfect voice to sing this song, not because she sounds emotional or depressed but because she sounds emotionless like she is somewhere else while singing...delusional and carried away. A nice portrayal of despair in my opinion.

  • @Cielosta well said sir

  • ........................

  • για όποιον κατάφερε να γίνει ΝΕΦΕΛΗΓΕΡΕΤΗΣ εκεί που κανείς δε μπόρεσε.............

  • I love every version of this song, EVERY. Because, this song can't be changed by the voice...

  • @setnosiva I agree!

  • my sunday is totally gloomy:(

  • Many performers including Celine Dion have gone on knowing their loved one have passed away;there is nothing they can do but go on.Singing is a way to express emotion, create. I have read interviews about her DF death and her response, she cared, but there was a reason for his suicide. it was not unexpected given certain situations. Why would you wish death upon her? Why click on this page and give her a view on youtube? Bitterness is a horrible thing. I hope one day peace comes to all.

  • Not good..... The HUNGARIAN ORIGINAl version is better!!!!

  • @GabrielleGothic that version sucks balls!!..thats why YOU'RE here bitch

  • @GabrielleGothic for us of course, becouse we understand it, and the lyric is much more powerful

  • @BBCEREISS

Did your caps lock key break and now it's perpetually locked in place? It might be time for a new keyboard .

  • sweet...romantic, but also very sad. lovely nontheless

  • @BBCEREISS Have you ever considered that she just loves her job and what she is doing? I know that when I 'm having a bad day if I sing or work on a monologue it can help me feel better. Going and performing could be a safe haven for her, something that makes her feel not as terrible. Maybe saying that was her way of not having a complete mental breakdown. Maybe she truely loved her father, saw what was happening to him, knew she couldn't stop it and started preparing herself before he died.

  • @9836meg BBCEREISS closed her account LOL

  • úúúžasné....taky vám z toho mrazí? ;-)

  • Perfect.

  • u guys should b more open minded. Do u know her past? DO u know who SHE really is? for all we know he abused her or sumthing, who knows. and yes mental illness can be passed on but if the person is strong enough it wont effect them as much. try more support. we dont know who ppl really are so why judge them?

  • @ elperfect0 "Gloomy Sunday" is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress in 1933, as Vége a világnak (End of the world), with alternate Szomorú vasárnap (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈsomoruː ˈvɒʃaːrnɒp]) (Sad Sunday) lyrics written by László Jávor, but it is most associated with Billie Holliday.

@ Jaymes420 I never said I didn't like any other vesion. I said IN MY OPINION Brightman's cover is the best one.

  • I love her face. Gorgeous eyes and dark hair. She definitely has that "gothic beauty" look to her.

  • i think she sings better in opera!!!!! this song is cakewalk to her..

  • Sarah is a wonderful singer, I really love her voice, but this song is in hungarian the most most beautiful... I'm proud to be a hungarian when I hear this song:)

  • This and Emilie Autumns cover of this song are my favorites

  • Call it different strokes for different folks, but I find Brightman's take on this song as the only one that surpasses even the original Billie Holiday version. The use of her voices range is in tune with how it was meant to be sung.

  • @200mphMonk i disagree, i think Heather Nova's version was amazing, it has a nice flow

  • @200mphMonk "the original Billie Holiday version" - WRONG! Holiday's version is a cover too! The original is by Dezső Seress and László Jávor.

  • It doesn't give me the creeps or make me sad like Heather Nova's version does. Hearing to this I feel like I'm starting my holidays...

  • Nagyon szép a dal és a videó!

  • simplemente fantastica!!

  • this is a nice female version of the original writer/singer of song from Hungary.

  • The best version of this song is by Ricky Nelson This version is awful. Methinks the woman doth try too hard. And shifting key destroyed anything she tried to create

  • wow, never realised she was this hot..

  • หลอนๆ

  • Absoulely Fantastic once again Sarah.....

You are Incredible....The Diva of our Lifetime...

Anyone that ever gets the chance to see this Wonderful Lady perform "Live" DON'T turn it down....

We've seen her on 5 different occasions on her World Tour stops in Las Vegas over the past 10 years & she NEVER, ever disappoints...

    Hugs

    Bob&Robby~Cole&Parker

  • @RomanticBob59 Dear 4 Romantics..

Thanks for sharing this wonderful performance of Sarah with me. What a very pleasant surprise, this performance. I love this kind of music very much. Never seen Sarah live, but who knows.....

Wish you great and sunny days.

    Love, hugs & kisses.

    Your Mannes.

My compliments and a thumbs up to -libre666-.

  • The last verse makes me think of Nekromantik.

  • i love sarah brightman with andrea .......

  • I enjoy SBs version; she's one of my favorite singers, but I must say that I love and feel more emotion from Emilie Autumn's version <3

  • Billy Holiday recorded this song back in the 30's. Just before she committed suicide. Listen to that one for emotion.

  • @Mongo1940 Here you go.That was a rumour. On May 31, 1959, Holiday was taken to Metropolitan Hospital in New York suffering from liver and heart disease. Police officers were stationed at the door to her room. She was arrested for drug possession as she lay dying, and her hospital room was raided by authorities.[71] Holiday remained under police guard at the hospital until she died from cirrhosis of the liver on July 17, 1959.

  • @WickedGypsy5000 copied it from wikipedia

  • @WickedGypsy5000 .....That was what I heard on some jazz radio station about 40 years ago. All things considered she did kill herself. Just not as quickly as some.

  • This is beautiful. Adaigetto, Maestro.

  • this i bullshit... thay made a cheesy song from a deep, sad, and suicidal song....... terrible...

  • @Saanyooo

    Well said.

  • Love Sarah Brightman, but I am sorry, I hate her version of this song. I can not hear her pain and emotional anguish. The timing is jazzy, but too structured. I understand that she is trying to put her spin on it, but with the jazz instrumental, her voice did not match at all. So I go back to what I stated before... Love Sarah Brightman, but I dont like her version of this song...

  • Lovely.

  • @MrBloograss You've done the homework for some of us, gloomy no more thanks dude!

  • I love sarah brighman <3 her songs are so touching.. and Im only 17 almost 18 ^^ and Im into gothic music too :)

  • Now sarah can sing just pop music or .. jazz..

  • thanks God i am now not in broken heart.. cuz.. when the last time i felt broken heart, i feel like i wanted to crash my car to the other car to ended my life.. but thanks God.. it didnt happen.. and thanks God at the time the thought came after my mind.. i never known this song.. ^^

  • @kianaishtarsamudera ...I'm glad you stayed here...

  • this song is great.. ^^; i love it..

  • Gloomy Everyday Y_____Y

  • @CAGIMG

    Aww :(

Don`t be sad! *hugs you*(well, hugs computer-screen, but you got it)

  • @Sonjhh thanks for a nice word : )

  • @CAGIMG

    You`re welcome :)

  • @CAGIMG :( Not with Sarah! HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS you! <3

  • @JennRighter I just want to hug you too dear : )

  • I Love you ...my song

  • this lyrics is tottttallly different then the original hungarian lyrics :/ its good by the way, but its not the same..

  • i wish susan boyle would sing this bu t i prefer not she might commit suicide.

  • i still have a crush on her. but i did prefer her when she was a little chunkier.

  • As I do seriously adore Emilie Autumn's version of this... This is absolutely beautiful. <3

  • best version of gloomy sunday ...

  • Sad is the most beautiful thing in a human being's eyes.

  • @isolawasthere Yes it is.

  • beautiful video clip music song thx. *(*-*)*

  • perdon quise decir emociono

  • Simplemente, espectacular me emosiono cuando te escucho cantar, gracias

  • This is so beautiful that I do want to kill myself.

I'm not sure how that works.

How can a song be sad, or beautiful, anyway? Even without the lyrics, the effect would be the same.

  • I love you Blind Mag!!! :)

  • I would love for her to sing the original lyrics =]

  • Excelente tema.

  • omg i love this song my favorite was bjorks then i stumbled upon this one while listening to sarah brightmen mix. <3<3<3<3

  • Az eredeti is gyönyörű, bár a feldolgozás is az..

  • execelente cancion con una exelente cantante

  • superba

  • The original hungarian lyrics totally different then this.

  • Hmmm With the right set up, this would be a great song for a James Bond Opening credits.

  • "let them not weep, let them know that I'm glad to go." omg cut my heart and let me bleed. what a wonderful quote.

  • az eredeti magyar Szomorú vasárnap hangulatát még Sarah Brightman sem tudja visszaadni

  • little white flowers will never awaken you..... </3

  • @MindGroper she's well known with people that are 30+ years old and some younger ones that venture into gothic music most of the time they end up listening to opera and then a list of sopranos come from that, ending with Sarah Brightman as the most "commercial" one.

  • @libre666 Thanks, that makes sense. An act like Madonna would not be popular in this genre anyway. Sarah does have a beautiful voice and look. Not that the look matters for listening but it sells for performance and video. I don't like what video has done to the rising stars. If you don't look like a model you don't get through.

  • @libre666 lol

  • @libre666 Bjork and Sarah Mclachlan recorded my favorite covers :)

  • @libre666 well im 24 old and the first i heared sarah is with bocelli which still it wasnt a gothic nor a commercial song. and from that day i searched through her music which i still i am following sarah and admire her talent and every kind of song, even the old ones. theres a story in each of her song!!!

  • @libre666 i heard her the first time with bocelli since my counrty malta watch italian tv etc. ever since, that time we had no internet but later i searched for sarah and i love her voice, her music, her passion!!!!!!!!!!! i love her she is so natural to music a feeling that i cannot understand long live sarah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really really wish to hear her live one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MindGroper she's already a big star for people who listen to real music :) One of the best sopranos out there in fact.....

  • @crimsonwizard1988 The more I learn about and listen to her the more I like her.

  • @MindGroper Plus, Madonna isn't even in the same CATEGORY as Sarah. Madonna's voice can't even compare

  • @LauraluXoX I agree Madonna is in a differen category...the non singing one. She's basically a stripper who carries a tune. The only thing I dont like about this song is where it modulates. It's such a deep mood I think it should stay put in the original key. SB has a very sexy voice whether fully clothed or not. The more I think about it, the more I think she should do her thing and not listen to people who want her to devolve into some kind of pub tart. She is who she is...Incredible.

  • @LauraluXoX Yeah I agree with you completely about Madonna, and she was willing to see out so quickly to in her career. I also agree with you about the modulates in this song, it already so intensely smooth and deep. I would be so said if Sarah went the Lady Gaga, Katy Perry way. I would cry and give up on music all together, because her voice is so pure and the range she has doesn't even make sense.

  • @MindGroper not all singers need to strip to stay famous ...

  • @rodx69 that's true but how famous? I like to just listen to her anyway so it's up to her. If she did she might attract an audience that would backfire on her.

  • @rodx69 indeed, she just had to marry an ugly but rich man who has power in the music industry

  • @rodx69 I love La Brightman, but she too did strip. Check out her 'Winter Light' and 'Ave Maria' videos. lol Yes, even our Sarah went there.

  • this is an hungarian song originally.

  • I haven't heard Sarah B sing this before - lovely!

  • Every song Sarah sings becomes the best version of it!!!

  • keep hiding behind the mask. When the day comes there will be no hiding place.

  • i love this song. the hungarian version is better but this is still marvoulous (think thats how its spelt) a true singer none of that synthisised crap you get these days

  • yea yea ay wery a beutifull my love kiss fockiu veri well

  • Voice of an angel. I like Bjorks version too!

  • is soo nice

  • Completely missunderstood message.... Though I respect S. B. this version' s not so catchy thus.

  • világhírű magyar zene!!! :) nem csak ebben vagyunk híresek ..

  • I committed suicide with this song....but my ipod stopped working.

  • A beautiful song, and this is a beautiful version. I am a huge fan of the song, it really gets to me. I know it's different from the original Hungarian lyrics, but I feel like it still harnesses the emotion of losing someone and wanting to join them rather than live without them.

  • God, this and Emilie Autum's version are the best!!!

  • Too slick and glossy.

  • Very very beautiful, it was written by a hungarian man : Seress Rezső

  • @TheKosaDavid Actually, the original version was written by Rezso Seress. This version was written by Sam M. Lewis. :D

  • my favourite version <3

  • Buena cancion en la voz de Sarah!!!! Escuche que supuestamente esta cancion es diabolica!!! pero obvio que yo no creo eso... es una tonteria.. Si ven eso o escuchan eso, no hagan caso estan locos!!!

  • a great song ! i like the way she sings!

  • One of the best female voices ever!!!!!

  • I love this song and I love Sarah Brightman. She did a gorgeous job with it.

  • PERFECT

  • this song make my heat crying

  • People were killed himself because the listening of this song? what a foolishness!

  • I don't like the "just dreaming" ending... it's sad, really. The song is much more emotional without the second ending... "life is not like a Gloomy Sunday with a second ending where the people are disturbed. Well, they should be disturbed. Because there's a story that ought to be heard."

  • @QnDrcla13 I see you have heard "The Art of Suicide"

  • @SeiPR727 Aha, but of course. ;) :P

  • @QnDrcla13 ya... It wasn't in the origional song. Billie Holliday made this song famous in 1941; the record producers made her add the 'dreaming' ending because they felt it was too depressing otherwise.

  • @joe133322 Yes, that's what I meant by the "second ending". They added it after because people were too upset by the song. I don't think it should have been added, though, I do understand why they did add it in. ;)

  • this song it's so cool

  • has anyone heard Portishead's version? i really love that one. but i love this one too!

  • Her interpretation is far the best - to my mind!,,, She has always a very good orchestra. The other versions don't touch me at all. Sarah's way to sing it this slowly enforces the sadness - as if she was relaxed and drunk, slowly getting closer and closer to the final irreversible decision...

But I don't like her voice so much. She has got a kind of baby voice. Sarah McLachlan singing her interpretation might be perfect for me.

Nice to have the lyrics!!! But I do miss a saddening vid - a lot...

  • i love sarah!!! but, sarah mcLachlan just does it better!

  • This song was wrote by hungarian composer: Rezső Seress

  • after listening to this, plz kill yourself

  • Bjork was the best to cover this song... !

  • Wow. Amazing! I love this :)

  • Not the best version of this song. I don't like the arrangement.

  • @DeanAMacd I agree! Though I respect Sarah Brightman, she didn't quite pull this off. If you close your eyes and listen, yes she was capturing the era of the song, which I like. That was my biggest complaint with BMTH doing written in blood. But it still was lacking something. It was actually kind of boring.

  • I like the lyrics of the song and I love his voice T///T cry of emotion

  • 16 people have no souls ... and counting I bet ...

  • i've listened to many versions of this song (i.e. hungarian, billie, mclachlan), but despite what anyone says, this one is more depressing than the rest, in a delightful way <333

  • Have you heard Björk's interpretation?

  • THIS VERSION SUCKS ASS >:[

  • Comment removed

  • @porn1978 pffft you know it sucks, that's why you are using lame jokes as retaliation. Her version sucks shit balls. Billie and Sarah owned it.

  • Comment removed

  • @porn1978 .__.

  • @LovleyXBones We can all agree that Bjorks was best, yes? *runs and hides!!!*

  • @callethathegreat haven't listened to it..., perhaps I should.

  • @LovleyXBones Here is the back part of the youtube link :) watch?v=TCEJtUNe90A

I really think bjork captured all the emotion of it perfectly.

  • oh ffs. the end of this song is the most depressing part! THERE IS NO NEED FOR THE 'i was dreaming' PART! We are made to read Shakespeare in school, we read about more death and distruction than this on a daily basis! this is stupid! goddamn it.

other than that, I love her voice singing this.
