  • great video my belt snapped and had loads of trouble with my car and all the ones i got were too loose now i know its cos i need to move it and tighten it up. Very easy to understand

  • Question. my car Makes a huge Squealing Noise when i start but after 10 secs or less it stops. and it doesn't do it again . So i am guessing i just have to make it tighter like you said on the ending of your video ?

  • Ah my fan belt went today on the home from work, it was weird cause it was make a un fan belt noise and my cabin was smokey, I thought I was on fire. Turned out the belt was rubbing and burning.

  • Good video, but I'd just like to point out that you won't get very far with that job if you try using a 1/2" spanner, although at 12.7mm, it's very close to the 13mm needed for this job, it's slightly smaller, so unless it's flared, or of very poor quality it won't quite fit over the bolt head.

  • The name fan belt was given to this engine part as the first cars were rear wheel drive and the fan belt turned the cooling fan and water pump. This sucked air over the radiator which cooled the water and this cold water was pumped into the engine. With modern cars there is an electric motor which drives the engine fan. You will rarely find the cooling fan been driven by the fan belt, however the name has remained unchanged.
