  • Middle picture on the bottom row = Alan Harper from Two and a half men?

  • How good is that bassline... have always loved this band and still do

  • Fusion Electro-jazz, des précurseurs. Ce morceau est l'un de leurs meilleurs. Cette musique a 30 ans d'avance. Non, elle est intemporelle... TRES GRAND groupe.

  • this still sounds good to this day .....but then I'm biased , Peter is my cousin......

  • I took the 12" sleeve to the barbers in Basingstoke to show him the Wedge I wanted

  • joy division copy

  • @reptiliano6 even better than the 'real thing"

  • @TheDulwichOnion Me Too !

  • Hearing this song for the first time....... The groove is sensational, but I'm not sure how much I like the singer. Then again, it took me a while to get used to Ian Curtis' voice.

  • Dare i say better than Joy Division?

  • @mattah111 non, juste antérieur... a certain ratio et joy division était tout 2 dirigés par martin hannett;JD était punk(warsaw)et MH a tout de suite senti qu'il pouvait continuer et améliorer son oeuvre avec eux...

  • Brilliant brilliant brilliant. A fabulously atmospheric tune.

  • i see this song in a action movie starring jason stratham; i don't know why, it just seems appropriate.

  • pinnacle moments

  • zero dislikes

  • One of my favorites from A Certain Ratio!! Some of the best sounds on earth came from Factory bands :D

  • Smooth ting!

  • quality track .. trippy :)

  • The delicate atmospherics and rhythms of this track are absolutely mind blowing.A band that were well ahead of their time back in the day.Respect to the band members and readers of this comment.

  • Si Topping was so ahead with his vision...anyone know what he ended up doing after quando quango who went on to be M People? Lovely track, halcyon days in the Rialto...

  • @wheelworker

    You're buzzin mate...

This mob are copy cats of no-one. Major precise and scintillating product of the Madchester before the bands you had ever heard of were famous.

ACR will be funkin long after I'm dead.

    Give me a fork :)

  • this playlist is buzzing... sent me on a right trip, thanks mate.

  • Gran descubrimiento tradío, amo este tema.

  • The atmosphere, the rhythm, the funky spaciousness of it all -this track HAS to be rated as a an early 80's classic.ACR were well ahead of the game back in the day.

  • wheelworker = ignorant git

  • loves Factory records

  • what a group! bass kick ass

  • an enormous influence on me as a musician.

  • My favorite early ACR track. I like the piano a lot ...and bass too - phenomenal.

  • ACR much underrated band ,although prefer the earlier work they were always on it.I saw them live, it must have been the TO EACH promotional tour at Rock City Nottingham. Thanks to my mate Andy who introduced me to the BALLROOM cassette their first release ,

  • manchester ..still great music

  • roots...

  • i am starting the pole shift survival group.

let me know if u r interested.

  • Thank you very much for posting this song, it is one of my absolute favorite songs in music history. The brief clip of it being 24Hr Party People made a big impression on me, I couldn't get that spooky tune out of my head for days after word. Thanks a lot once again

  • I preferred their early work, darker and more mysterious punk/dub/funk. Certainly some Joy Division influece there . . . Nothing quite like them since . . . or maybe I stand to be corrected?

  • Maybe I'm not the only one who likes their early work - especially the first album - more than their later. This album is really in a dark, spooky, and creepy way and reminds of Joy Division. Much better than crap like "MCR". "Won't stop loving you" is absolutely awful. Maybe their trip to NYC wasn't the best thing they did, I don't know...

    Anyway - thanks for uploading!

  • @jezkerr No, nothing is just a matter of taste!

Everything is Quality or not. It's a question of intellect.

    I don't understand classicism, so I can't tell if I

like it or not. But maybe I like some stuff wich I

    don't understand.

  • Quality Ratio tune. Absolutely adore it, proper atmospheric. Cheers for posting.

  • this just makes talking heads sound totally contrived and derivative...amazing record

  • Excellent....quel son de basse géniale

  • exciting

  • doesn't anyone see the continuity from Krautrock?

Can made tracks similiar enough to this.

  • this particular tunes does have a strong element of krautrock to it. the drumming and the minimalistic lyrics

  • @vadimfv definitely sounds like jaki liebezeit (sp?) on drums there. but then doesn't hallelujah by happy mondays sound like can too?

  • The bassline reminds me of "once in a lifetime"

  • there was a lot of cross fertilisation - and a rumour that ACR were to record Houses in Motion with Grace Jones. Is it true, did it happen, is there a white label anywhere? whatever, Flight remains a triumph and the more latin flavoured stuff is great too. and John Peel version of Knife slits water

  • A great band.

Martin Hannett is the very best post-punk producer ever.

Listen also the b-side from this one, 'Blown Away', another masterpiece

  • a masterpiece, thanks for posting.

  • i remember going to see acr live at the boardwalk, hacienda, gmex, mcr uni,the ritz, all absolutely fucking brilliant nights oh to be young again, these little fuckers these days dont know what they missed,

  • AMAZING! I live two blocks from The Hacienda, I'm a YANKMANC! Love the Manchester sound with every fiber of my being. What they've done to the Hacienda is blasphemous, but I love the way it feels driving and waking past it to go home!! Factory pressed almost everything I cut my musical "I" teeth on.. Manchester is a magical place, musically!!

    THANKS FOR THIS!!

  • It´s a great, great, great song of ACR have ever made in all Manchester music!!!

  • So exciting to hear this ACR track again and such clean sound, too - the original 12" I used to listen to way back then got pretty ropey. 'Flight' is a masterpiece and still impresses as innovative decades after its original production. Thanks so much for putting it out for us to appreciate.

  • Should have way more views than just over 1000.Groundbreaking brilliant funky shit.

  • best new wave drums ever..... need more flight..warner bros brooklyn punk ..hijack the terrorrist group

  • rest easy. it now has 3,252 views. ha ha ha

  • thanx for this! great song and a brave attempt of freakfunk in days of punk.

check out medium medium as well.

    cheers,

    p65

  • MADCHESTER LEGENDS!!!
