  • Fabulous

  • An amazing concert. I was in attendance that night. I'll never forget it!!!

  • O-YES AT THE HIGH LIGHT OF MY CERTAIN FRIEND AND EC SAYS IT ALL..THK-U-E.C.

  • CLAPTON IS GOD!

  • What a sound EC had at this period. Voice and guitar. Maybe the best since D&D.

  • you know it, it's a sad state of affairs these days

  • STEVE GADD IS GOOD. BUT FERRONE IS BETTER.

  • THIS IS THE BEST VERSION EVER. SO JAZZ, SO SMOOTH!!!!

  • the album's version is without doubt the best song ever played

  • Got that 80s feel to it!!

  • Agree with the comments about this song suiting his style, theres just so much room and space for him to use his amazing phrasing, sense of rhythm and of course his beautiful bending. Also totally agree with Gavrushka - the live album version is arguably the best solo Clapton has ever produced, that big opening bend and the drum fills kicking in, when I first heard it I thought the world was ending, and then he just breaks your heart. Unbelievable - good call Gavrushka. But this version gr8 too

  • I have this dvd its great but you can see the hurt and unhappiness in his face and eyes..still drinking and miserable with Patty..he's still awesome even through his pain...

  • new version on youtube from june 8th july 11. Check it out. Just heard it and its amazing.

  • Actually, this ISN'T the album version. They're very, very similiar. I like the album version better.

  • Hey this song is not live its the original album version, its just that someone put a live video to it and didn't do a good job on it cause i can see its not live.

  • I'm just learning guitar. but I play pretty good. it's just that I don't know my scales. I wanna be like my dad who's awesome at guitar

  • His quitar cries real tears!

  • This truly is one of the best songs ever.

  • good see he's growing back his hair these days - this old look will bring on some (new) old love

  • just ordered this dvd ,,can't wait to watch it all...he is the master...

  • hahahaha :D Really??! There's one Alien who disliked this.

    OR

That should be Mr. Clapton himself, thinking that he could've played a bit better!...

  • this sounded even better live! got to see him at Dodger Stadium, with Elton John, for only $60!! great concert!!

  • the man that inspired many of us.

  • man this solo absolutely completes this song in every way. its amazing to me because he never played the same solo again, and this version is the right one to me

  • I'm speachless this is shocking good... it's like Eric is playing on the strings of my heart. Followed all these yrs his tunes... and they are breathtaking...

@gavrushka what a fantastic sound ya provided... tks. alot.... 5 stars :-)

  • nice

  • i grew up LOVING this song&being so spoiled by just getting a listen of this recording in paricular.best ec song HANDS DOWN....cream excluded

  • Eric Clapton live playing Old love is as good as it gets .Great clear sound, killer riffs.

  • One of my favorites

  • the 5th Bee Gee

  • this is a great song with a great lead in both versions. but if you wan't to hear a classic ec lead, listen to double trouble on just one night. that's the shit.

  • pure soul...........

  • Maybe if you get a haircut, brush your teeth, take a shower(water + soap) & keep your racist views to yourself you could trick someone into hiring you. You wouldn't have to work the street for some scraps to eat you mangey mutt.

    No offense intended.

  • im looking for EC worried life blues from the "24 nights" link please... i have a DVD of it but i cant upload it.

  • I got the CD when it first came out. This version is indeed the best and it just blew me away when I first heard it and it still does.

  • mindgasm

  • whats with the audio visual mismatch in this video?

  • ...ma ma miaaaaaaaaaa steve ferr'one !!!

  • One of the best solos by Slowhand!

  • 4:36 is golden.

This one performance contain probably more talent than the whole lot of U.S mainstream artists combine last year.

    It's just too damn spectacular.

  • yeah i'm afraid the golden age or rock and blues is in the past not the present neither the future, i never listen to music of this era, i hate it, it makes me wanna break radio

  • @internalpeaceseeker I agree. Popular music now is awful. You may be able to find a few decent musicians in the underground scene, but they are not great like the old stuff.

  • This is truly the best blues song ever written ! thanx ERIC &ROBERT CRAY

  • Este cara é demais...parece que transa com a música!

  • I think Ferrone was the best Clapton´s drummer ever ..... even better than Gadd.

  • this is good, but i agree with piloto117. the album version is WOW.

  • come on, the passion in this version is unmatched by the album version, and by any other song I have ever heard, unbelievable version of one of the best songs ever!

  • @Harrisononthesack i think the vid's playing ability is unmatched by the album. but the album matches the feeling of the song better(confusion, anger, illusion). the album perfectly captures Slowhand's ability to say so much by playing so little. long drawn out notes to perfectly matching the frustration on not being able to get over someone.

  • I think this tune suits the style and skills of Clapton better than any other song. And yes, Clapton is nothing short of divine.

  • Clapton is the One, and Only!!!

It's one of the best live ever!!!

    What a solo??!!!

    it's my favorite song!!!

    God bless you Eric!!!

Thank you for all these years!!!

  • Have you guys ever heard the version on the album? It's very, very similiar but it's the BEST EC solo ever! It starts out with the same bend, but in overall it's just better executed, phrased and played, plus it ends in a screaming high note that just tears your heart out! Give it a listen if you can.

  • naturally i heard the album version, but it's one of the songs which clapton makes great live versions of, different interpretation each show. really love it.

check out his live version to "i shot the sheriff".

  • @gavrushka The 24 nights version is just perfect...The album version is amazing but it can not rich the same level of intensity in my opinion...Everything here is perfect...the voice, the atmosphere, the groove, the solos, of every one! (the Grag Phillinganes and Nathan East two.). Pure music.

  • @gavrushka The album version is spectacular. This particular night Eric's phrasing was elegant and intuitive. So much to like about this solo that I could go on but, I think it's enough to say that this song played by this artist is perfection on any night. Thanks for sharing this one!

  • @piloto117

    agree!!

  • @piloto117 what album is it on? i just can't find it on his discography online!

  • There is only one Clapton.!! He just has that amazing touch and tone, that no one has. Very often copied but never duplicated.. You can easily hear what makes his playing so special throughout the solos in this song I have been playing guitar for over thirty years and I had to reach certain proficiency level before I could full appreciate just how great his playing actually is!!!

  • Granted but Peter Green in my opinion is far better both technically and in any sort of feeling and knowledge of how a guitar should be played. This is just my opinion and thought I would share it. I really loved this 24 nights stuff and to be honest it's what got me into playing guitar at aged 10 but since discovering Fleetwood Mac and some of the live bootlegs Pete just does it far more for me. I think Clapton was better with Cream.

  • I think there are more technically adept guitarists, like Eddie VanHalen, perhaps. What makes Clapton a "better" guitarist is his musicianship and his apprenticeship in the blues. Me, I think Clapton is at his best as a solo artist with a backing group.

  • One of my favorite Eric Clapton songs from the Journeyman album. This is also one of his best solos of this song, great tone, vibrato, and phrasing. What is relatively unique about Clapton is that for a blues player he uses a minor scale for his solos over many of his songs such as Old Love and I shot the Sheriff cover instead of just a straight blues scale.

  • Ok, i'm a huge fan. He inspired me to pick up the guitar. Initally becuase i thought he was cool, then i a actually listened to the sincerety of his voice...........the the guitar of EC kicked in, i was blown away, still am.........Not always, but enough. Music is feeling and when u have the guitar in your hand in front of a crowd, first thought id f**k them, this is for me and if they like it then cool, if not then ok.. The blues will take you through it

    Just ask Nancho.

  • the guy just gets lost in himself when he plays-he is the best-ever

  • Cant believe that so called " music expert" on msn who said Clapton was over-rated can even think he has a leg to stand on after watching this. Just because someone isnt travelling at a million miles an hour doesnt mean they're not a good guitarist, NO ONE has the same feel as clapton does. What i would give to have Stevie alive still so these two could have dueted :(.

  • Eric Clapton is my favorite guitarist ever. He is so good. And this song shows why.

  • So Eric Clapton isnt that overrated after-all! He is really amazing.

  • exactly ;D

  • Awesome sustain for that first note of the solo.

  • This is amazing...Can anyone help me figure out the riffs he plays at 5:00 and 6:05. It's so fast!

  • Because he's Eric Clapton lol.

  • no way i can figure that out

  • Top notch.

  • that's really amazing performance

  • EPIC!

  • Such a powerful emotional song, you can feel Clapton's pain when he plays this song... awesome!!!
