My father was a tank comander during WWII, 34th Brigade, Royal Armoured Corps, which had Churchill tanks. He was in the Normandy campaign. Used to say how beautiful many of the German songs were. Think he would have liked this one.
My great uncle was a panzer commander in the Africa and Normandy campaigns. He had alot of tales about his time in WWII before he died. Even had a picture of him and his crew with the Panzer IV he served in. Was pretty cool. :) And best of all, thanks to him my black and white view of the war was shattered. German troops slaughtred ALL enemies in the first years of the war. Germany could EASILY win the war if Hitler wasn't so cocky to his Generals and listen to them. Instead he invaded russia and had 2 battle fronts to worrie about. England had almost fallen because the luftwaffe had nuked brittish airfields so hard that they was going to surrender but then he went for London and gave the brittish airforce opportunity to rebuild. Only southern part of England was within range of the luftwaffe, the RAF had plenty of airfields outside of the range of luftwaffe and able to reach any invasion beaches and invasion fleet in the channel.

@avonfisher they are nice people im from the netherlands and know quitte some german people and they are all very friendly and i have to admit their army now and in the time of the wehrmacht is very impressing. as a side note i think the name kriegsmarine sounded better than what they now use i believe if you translate their current name you get german royal navy while kriegsmarine translates into war navy.

This wasn't a SS song, it was a whermacht song that was sometimes used by the SS Panzer divisions, you deface their memory with that 14/88 comment at the end, the soldiers in the Panzer divisions such as the 116th didn't fight for the Nazi regime or Hitler, they fought for their country. I'm not putting down Neo-Nazis and neither do I support them I'm just saying that they shouldn't be remembered as Nazis, but as Soldiers, no different than that of the US, Britain or any other.

The Wehrmacht was an unstoppable force, until it tried to conquer the massive Soviet wastes and had to contend with the industrial might of the USA. The fact that the Austrian corporal (Crazy Adolf) led them to destruction with his half baked ideas sealed their fate. As long as the lunatic in Berlin was running the show the were lost from the beginning, leaving the cream of the Wehrmacht resting beneath the Soviet sod.

Unfortunately the Germans had no other choice than to attack the Soviets. Stalin had his Invasion Army nearly ready to strike into German´s back. 6.000.000 Soldiers, 24.000 Tanks, 19.000 Airplanes.
This army was thought to attack in July 1941. The Germans decided for the preemptive strike and therefore prevented the European Continent to become Communist.
The Germans did very well in the beginning, but running low on resources and finally got stuck in the Russian Winter...

They could have beaten their greatest threat and captured the oilfields they needed in the middle east. France would not have dared attacked Germany and neither would or could have Britain. This also would have delayed The United States from entering the war. The 2 front war scenario was virtually impossible.

My father was a tank comander during WWII, 34th Brigade, Royal Armoured Corps, which had Churchill tanks. He was in the Normandy campaign. Used to say how beautiful many of the German songs were. Think he would have liked this one.

My great uncle was a panzer commander in the Africa and Normandy campaigns. He had alot of tales about his time in WWII before he died. Even had a picture of him and his crew with the Panzer IV he served in. Was pretty cool. :) And best of all, thanks to him my black and white view of the war was shattered. He was a German soldiers, and he wasn't some blood-lusting "hun" who wanted everyone except blue-eyed blondes dead. He was a pretty nice guy, he wasn't even a Nazi. He hated them.

German troops slaughtred ALL enemies in the first years of the war. Germany could EASILY win the war if Hitler wasn't so cocky to his Generals and listen to them. Instead he invaded russia and had 2 battle fronts to worrie about. England had almost fallen because the luftwaffe had nuked brittish airfields so hard that they was going to surrender but then he went for London and gave the brittish airforce opportunity to rebuild. At that point Germany had the best Men,Weapons,Tanks,Artilliery

@whitee1992 Britain could be sourrender if Hitler don't attack URSS (a stupid decision). It is true that the RAF fought a great way and that Britain had fought a very brave, but ultimately the surrender had been inevitable. If the energy deployed by the Germans in the USSR had been intended for submarines, aircraft and rockets (V2), the English surrender would have been completly sure.

@Pianafierro only in your dreams, assclown. How would the luftwaffe defeated the RAF during 1940'? The invasion of Russia did not take place until June 1941. Only southern part of England was within range of the luftwaffe, the RAF had plenty of airfields outside of the range of luftwaffe and able to reach any invasion beaches and invasion fleet in the channel.
What about the operation Sea lion which required a full month to transport the german invasion force? What about the Royal Navy,assclown

@Pianafierro No dude,. The RAF had the option of moving it's fighters to airfields north beyond the Luftwaffes range. Regardless of attacks on London by the luftwaffe, the weather would have precluded luftwaffe operations especially after Oct. cheack weather conditions after this date.
Only Ventnor was put out of action for any significant period in regards to radar stations.
Germany did not have a 'strategic' airforce it was a tactical airforce that supported ground operations.

@fluffy1931 You are true when you say that German don't have a strategic airforce, they don't have heavy bombers, but with his medium bombers and his fighters they could be able to destroy the RAF if they continue with the atacks against airfields during more weeks and if they didn't put thousands of aircrafts and resources against URSS.

No. The luftwaffe daytime bombing campaign losses without fighter escort was a disaster. The luftwaffe efforts to reach RAF airfields beyond the range of it's Me 109' escort fighter was a disaster.
Without a proper long range escort fighter the luftwaffe faced the same problem as the USAAF had in 1943' daytime bombing campaign ETO without proper escort 'epic fail' .

@dannelit0w You are not necessarily correct in your assumption that Nazigermany were superior in weaponry. Tank to tank the Tiger were superior yet also very complicated to make. T-34 and other tanks were cheap, but you know, a tank did not live forever. In fact they lived for few months which made the technical superiority of the Tiger superfluous.

On the high seas german battleship Bismarck sunk after a mere 2 weeks at sea! The Tripitz another german battleship never left refuge of her port and never fired at a enemy ship until she was sunk at her moorings.

Hitler's ships were unable to get out of the north sea ports, when they did they were sunk, the Italians were likewise held in the Mediterranean by the RN who also sunk part of French fleet after they were given the opportunity to join the Allies or scuttle their ships. And that was even before the US declared war in DEC 1941. Hitler lost because like his mate Stalin he was EVIL.

We hear TONS about Goering's blunders(e.g. ignoring "Home Chain"{is that the right name for the radar system?},constantly changing targets,etc),but how important was that REALLY?Would a final destruction at Dunkirk have done it?
