I acquired the Nantucket Sleighride album on vinyl about forty years ago, and rebought it on CD a few years ago. Seeing your engaging video accompaniment to a long-liked song has overnight made it more atmospheric to me and enhanced my appreciation of it. Well done, and thank you for uploading your work.
Thanks for the compliment. It took a good amount of time to do this vid and it was still not perfect, at least for me. Was using some generic programs and video formats to do it.
It took a long time to get the edits just right in sync. Gives me a whole new appreciation for proper video editing . And i have done a ton of audio post production !
The person to whom the song is dedicated, Owen Coffin, was a young seaman on the Nantucket whaleship Essex, which was rammed and sunk by a sperm whale in 1820. In the aftermath of the wreck, Coffin was shot and eaten by his shipmates. The Essex's story was recorded by its First Mate, Owen Chase, one of eight survivors, in his 1821 Narrative of the Most Extraordinary and Distressing Shipwreck of the Whale-Ship Essex.
@MaxVonStark Thanks for the background on this track. One should read the account. It is rivieting. As well as Poe's 'Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym' a similar story.
Anyone ignorant enough to deny that Mountain as a group and Leslie West as an individual were forces to be reckoned with in the world of rock music and guitar playing must never have listened to this..
