  • Whats the tune playing in the background ?

  • god damn it's almost in brand new condition~

  • "Unboxing, complete"

Yeah no kidding.. everything original.. I'm so jealious right now :P

  • Thumps up if it looks like a red wii.

  • Question, will this work with an NES or the Top loader?

  • @sammyslamdunk it'll work in a top loader but you have to put it in backwards

  • @sammyslamdunk Technically, the FDS will work with both NES models. To get it into a toaster NES, you need to take the lid off the system and remove the ZIF loader and then attach the RAM adapter in that way. Obviously not the best way of playing the FDS. It will also work on a NES-101 toploader without doing that because of the redesign, but neither version will produce expansion audio from the FDS without modding. The toaster can be modded, but not the top loader.

  • Those Japaneses sure make nice boxes.

  • never heard of this thing until tonite

  • Epic Music

  • "I'm probably getting SARS right now."

  • well now i have to say it....if you need instructions, on how to operate your famicom disk system, please check out the enclosed instructions book..................

  • what is that song in the background?

  • @darthvaderyoda

It;s yhe minigame theme from Mario Bros 3

  • This is really beatifull , I wish to have one .

  • I wouldn't mind owning a Famicom if it weren't for the fact the controllers are hardwired into the console itself and have short cords.

  • GJ! u bought an outdated piece of shit! :)

  • what does this do?

  • The site's closed. :(

I guess eBay is our only option now. $50 shipping... do not want!

  • That's the same website I got mine from.

  • that is a small ass box

  • LOL Looks like they use a sneaker box for packaging!

I'd still love to have one though...

  • For some odd reason channel 95 is what you need in the U.S.

  • whats sars?

  • dude everybody stfu about the sars comment and anyway its NOT from Japan its from China (highest percentage), then it spread out to other countries but it never went to Japan what-so-ever

  • @TylerWayMoore not even one little bit a sars went to japan im joking btw dont kill me

  • LOL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • i just got one of these ...i liked the sars comment

  • Dude this is a collectors item, how expencive was it ?

  • how much did you pay?

  • woodstock 94

  • do Famicoms work in the US?

  • With the right AC adapter and with it set to channel 2, it should work.

If only someone would make a FDS adapter, as well as a 60-pin adapter with sound support (it should be easy for Yobo and other clone companies to do)... Then all Japanese FC games would work on an American NES.

  • accually, you have to have it on channel 95 for an american tv

  • Cool collector item you got ,but The racist SARS comment and the repeating Bloop-Bloop-Bloop music gotta go.

  • Sars is more of a China thing.

  • OHHH SHIT i saw one of those at a flea market last year and i didnt know what it was dont i feel like a piece of shit

  • i just got my hands on a super famicom, and i don't know how to hook it up. i dont know if its anything like the famicom disk system, but if it is, could u tell me how to hook it up to a north america tv?

  • sars is china fool not Japan!

  • No it's japan stupid.

  • The best obscure Console kit to own, have fun with it!!

  • i got one of those finally! its very good.

  • Where can i get a scan of the comic?

  • type into goggle Famicom Disk system Manual and it should be the first result.

  • Awesome vid! I just bought a Famicom A/V with a gold Punch-Out. I need to get this now!!

  • You're a fucking asshole for saying the SARS comment.

  • Whats "SARS"?

  • Noooooo!! you opened it, it is no longer a collectible.... (j/k)

awesome find mate. that thing looks in mint conditions for being in like a 20 year slumber without being disturbed.

  • Is that how SARS gets passed? Through newspapers? Good thing I only watch tv. ...and youtube.

  • Actually it was passed by people opening disk systems.

  • I herd about that, that dam Sega CD was the final Blow!

  • I bet it felt really epic touching the Famicom Disk System.

  • Could you use the Famicom disk system on a US NES with a Fami to NES adaptor, or is it impossible?

  • i heard you may be able to do it with a nes 2.

  • Dude that was a great find. Thing is mint!!!!

Cant was to see the in-depth video. Keep up the GREAT WORK!

  • The more in-depth video about the FAMICOM DISK SYSTEM is up at Retroware TV's website as well as a COUPON for Retroware TV viewers at Famicom Shop online.

  • SARS was a disease that affected China, not Japan....

  • congrats on your new doorstop

  • Oooooh a Disk System

    I've always wanted one :P

how much did it cost you? (damn, boxed too!)

  • these people never get enough games

  • OOOOOH!!! LUCKYYYYY!!!!

  • okay. i'll just go out and say it. i am really confused. i am only 14 so i was not around during the time of the nes. so i don't understand this. i know in america, names are different than japan, like the sega genesis is the megadrive in japan so i thought "famicom" is just the japan name for nintendo entertainment system. but i look at this and go... what?! this is completey different. what is this thingy. he said there is a cartrige hookup. so that is cartrige games.

  • (continued)but what is that floppy disk thing?

and why did we not get this is america?

  • [continued(continued)] so... is the famicom different from the famicom disk system or is that the same thing caz someone asked "and the joystick?" and someone responded saying "no joysticks, you use the famicom controllers" so....what?

  • Wikipedia's your friend. It's worth looking up.

  • ok! good old wiki. i was just too lazy to search it. i hoped someone would tell me.

  • First of all Famicom is the JP version of the NES.

Second of all the Disk System was planned for US release but scrapped cause of piracy reasons (It came out a year after the NES and in a short amount of time pirated diskettes were being sold), and the system was not as durable as NOA liked (Infamous for the rubber drive belt decomposing over time).

The Disk System is the Famicom what the Sega CD was to the Genesis. It was an add-on.

And some people called controllers joysticks......

  • cause the earlier consoles came with Joysticks.

  • because you americans wouldn't have appreciated it.. you don't appreciate anything

  • wow you just made a statement claiming that na entire country doesn't appreciate something... Maybe you come from one of those countries where the government films everything all the time. Can you even take a dump without the queen making sure you wipe correctly?

  • america, the country of the free.. my arse.

  • We are still free... Obama hasnt been elected yet.

  • either way whether he does or doesnt.. your new president is going to be just as shit as the last

  • Regardless of countries, you two are both incredibly stupid.

  • you're even more stupid than us two for butting in with nothing to add to the conversation you stupid trOLL.

  • Well Duh... Thats how the system works. atleast we have guns to keep the king of england out of our face.

  • I know its four months ago but I just could not resist (bloody a.d.d lol) but England dont have a King , just a Queen since 1952 .. And btw the U,S dont need guns to keep the "queen" out of your face ,just by being from the good ole U.S of A is enough!

  • Obama is President, don't be unpatriotic you turd.

  • he wasnt when i made that comment dipshit.

  • Haha Sars...

  • Hey John D, make sure to always protect your disk system games and NEVER leave disks inside the system when not in use. Dust and dirt can corrupt sectors and make the games unreadable. As cool as the standalone Disk System is, the truly awesome system is the Sharp Twin Famicom that is both a Famicom and Disk System in one unit. Look forward to checking out your stuff. Famicom rocks.

  • Thanks man! And yeah, the belt was recently replaced so I hope all will be well for awhile. I'm really excited about the condition of the system, wanted this for years. As for the Sharp Famicom Twin, all I can say is definitely head to our site for the larger review video on Wednesday :-)

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 Are the disks, normal floppy disks or are the diffrent?

  • @Robobbly the Famicom Disk System used proprietary floppy disks in an attempt to thwart piracy. Eventually pirates managed to copy the format and produce their own games, and then ROM cartridges surpassed the capabilities of the FDS, and the format quickly died. If nothing else, the FDS floppies were anything but normal or standard. Most of them didn't even have the spring loaded dust covers that most standard floppy disks have!

  • @SatoshiMatrix1 Ok, thanks! Im just wondering because im trying to make a games console at the moment that runs off normal floppys and runs compiled/non compiled basic games :D

  • LOL Sars

  • and the joysticks???

  • it comes with no joysticks you use the famicoms controllers

  • i'm sure if you kept it the way it is, it would be ALOT in around 10 years time, just make sure you keep the disk drive safe.

  • :3 I just hope that belt in the disk drive doesn't crap out on you fast. @_@ I heard those were a huge problem

  • man that is so rad! i was going to buy a fake famicom from this guy at a flea market where i got my atari vcs...but when i went there he was packed up and gone! it was a sad day...

  • Dude, that is so awesome! I need to get a famicom and this too!

  • Awesome! I want one so bad...

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Thats so ol school biatch

  • lol i got japanese newspaper when i got my pocky :)

  • That unit looks 100% complete right down to the warranty sheets. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to get a disc system in such pristine condition?

  • I got this from famicomshop online. it's a new place and I got a deal. Not sure if they have any systems right now but they do have games. I got it for around $100 shipped (awesome deal) but I'm sure the costs may be different based on different characteristics.

  • Cool I hope to see more videos about it!

  • we will be releasing an in-depth video on 11/5 about the famicom disk system. It will only be posted on Retroware TV's main site and an exclusive on Pwn Or Die as well.

  • Thanks.

  • OK can't wait to see it. You always come up with great thing! Keep up the good work!

  • Awesome! I love unboxing things from Japan! I made a vid about unboxing my famicom, hehe. So exciting!
