  • @CaliforniaTravelTips Chinese mafia.

  • @Ga5524 Aha.

  • In Houston, TX there seems to be more Vietnemese than Chinese too. There are street signs in Viet. I love spring rolls and sweet soy milk.

    sfsamperi.blogspot.com

  • @tyler2wwe619 Yeah, it's still fun!

  • @CaliforniaTravelTips i bet it is

  • gotta love chinatown. not too many chinese people live in that area anymore though. the san gabriel valley (cities like monterey park, alhambra, temple city, arcadia...) are almost all asian. not too many tourist attractions though ;)

  • @sgtpepper915 Yeah, my grandma lives in Alhambra and I agree. Lots of Chinese. But Chinatown definitely has that ambiance — especially Central Plaza.

  • Chinatown is San Francisco is WAY better

  • most chinatown restruant doesnt have A sanitation its mostly B

  • @ABCba5tard Yes, that scares me!

  • @CaliforniaTravelTips also the chinese dont pray to goddess of the seas...... we chinese pray to ancestors and the Budah

  • @ABCba5tard I was at the Thien Hau Temple, which is dedicated to Mazu, the Taoist goddess of the sea.

  • that dragon would be awesome if it was made out of lego

  • @aglewi41 Sure would!

  • looks just like china haha.

  • It is pretty funny that real Chinatown in the LA area is the San Gabriel Valley. This Chinatown is really just for show and most of the shops and restaurants are owned by Vietnamese.

  • im hunngeryyy

  • looks like a pretty interesting Chinatown :)

  • @QLFILMS I think it's pretty cool — especially Central Plaza.

  • @CaliforniaTravelTips I think YOU'RE pretty cool, CaliforniaTravelTips.

  • WAIT WAHHHHHHH THAT PLACE I THOUGHT IT WAS HAUNTED (bruce lee studio)

  • @weeeewoooooooooo Really? Tell me more...

  • Chinatown is fun. Everyone is super friendly, and the food is so good!

  • @LizAtTheBeach I agree. Central Plaza is my favorite part. Love the dim sum and performances!

  • thanks for the help but i have one last question that u didnt seem to answer but are there any good priced apartments that would be affordable (in santa monica thats where im planing on moving now) like up to the price range of 500 to 1000$ thanks for all the help you gave me really usefull

  • @idntnowatimdoing It's hard to say without looking through some ads, but Santa Monica and West Hollywood both have rent control. Check on Craig's List for rentals in those two areas. You may also want to room with a few people at first.

  • thanks and yes i am planing on working but first ill have to find a suitable place to live in LA and would it be a good place to start your art carrer? also i wasn't thinking about movin to downtown LA exactly but couldn't actually decide where to move could u give me a few suggestions? thanks and really good videos u have

  • @idntnowatimdoing Thank you. Hollywood, Silver Lake, Los Feliz are good places for art. If you want to live near the beach, check out Santa Monica or Venice. In Orange County, about an hour from LA, Laguna Beach is popular for art, and actually Santa Ana has a burgeoning art scene downtown. Hope this helps!

  • hey i got a question im thinking about movin to LA and i think imma have to live in a apartment for budget reason are there any good priced apartment that could be affordable (I only need a one room apartment ) thanks for the help

  • @idntnowatimdoing Hi. Good question. Downtown would not be my first choice. Still a big homeless problem there and not the safest place at night. Will you be working in Los Angeles? If not, I can give you some more suggestions.

  • When I think of Chinatown, I think, "...I wish I were Asian... :("

  • man southern california is so beautiful i wish i could move there.

  • when i think of chinatown, i think of cheap fireworks and switchblades. :)

  • @ilolz4evar Yeah, they have that too! :)

  • Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown.

  • Empress Pavillion, you'll have to go!Dim Sung experience.

  • Thanks! I'd love to see New York's Chinatown one day. Cheers and happy new year! Veronica

  • @CaliforniaTravelTips

Thanks for the video Veronica, it's a nice video. I'm from holland and considering to come over to CA to be precisely to Los Angeles. Would you think it would be a good choice or should I consider something else?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Thank you! Los Angeles is a great place to visit. You are close to so many things, from Hollywood and Beverly Hills to many great beaches and theme parks. Disneyland is nearby, and San Diego is about 1 1/2 hours away. You should have a terrific visit! Cheers and happy new year! Veronica

  • I am Chinese ,I live in Chinatown Los Angeles. In the this video I saw my friend,,xaiyan,he is a Buddhist priest, the person whom show the Kungfu is him!

  • How fun! What are your favorite restaurants in Chinatown and what are the best things to order? Would love to know for my next visit! Cheers, Veronica

  • 招き猫は 日本発祥です。

  • Thanks for the comment! What are your favorite places to eat?

  • Perfect video

  • Thank you. You are very kind. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Veronica

  • have you done Little Tokyo in Los Angeles? you should if you haven't!

  • I haven't, but it's on my list!

  • yay! awesome. can't wait.

  • hey, if you could, try to do Disneyland during Christmastime, you'll love it, especially their fireworks and snow!

  • It's on my list!

  • I live in chinatown NYC (i am white tho). I gotta admit... its not that pretty as SF :-)

  • @MissBellaLuca LOL really? I wouldn't have guessed. How much are you paying in rent?

  • You should check out Shanghai if you haven't been there. It will blow your mind. I went there for Chinese New Year last year. One of the most amazing celebrations I have ever seen.

  • hey do the west side of l.a

  • Good idea. It's on our list!

  • China town have bad security. Too many damn gang running around.

  • do one for lassen. it is the only volcano in the northamerican continent to exhibit all 4 kinds of activity. lassen lodge has a website too.

  • Sounds fantastic! I'll put Lassen on our list of video requests. Take care, Veronica

  • add all for a cheap price, little tokyo is next door so yeah, cheap asian stuff all in a section of LA

  • I'll check out Little Tokyo next time I'm in LA!

  • very nice videos. there are a lot of good sugestions for our next trip.w´ll back to california.

    greets from germany.

  • Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. Take care! Veronica

  • Hmm sounds interesting again. Was there 10 years ago it was dead and barren. The Chinatown look like a set of a Hollywood movie prop, but then again that is LA period. I understand there is a mass transit station now, which is good.

Still think that NYC and SF has the best Chinatown in the US. Though Vancouver is good too as well as Victoria, smaller but you can feel the history as well.

  • Thanks for commenting! I really enjoyed the performances in Central Plaza. Very well done. San Francisco is next on our list. Take care, Veronica

  • I'll hit everything eventually. This is hard work putting together videos! Thanks for your suggestions. Veronica

  • chinatowns awesome

  • Yay, I'm going to Chinatown this weekend for my birthday. Since I'm on a diet I'm gonna get me a soup spoon for my soup and visit the dim sum place.

  • Cool! Have fun. Just a note that the dim sum at Empress Pavilion is only served for lunch; we found out the hard way last time when we showed up for dinner. Happy birthday! Veroncia

  • Nice! It looks better than NYC's Chinatown.

  • Thanks for commenting!

  • definitely a lot cleaner for sure. I visited about 3 weeks ago from nyc

  • a lot cleaner? are you serious? even though I've never been to the one in NYC but i don't know how on earth it would be if you said LA Chinatown (vietnamese town) is cleaner LOL

  • chinatown +ellegal fireworks oh ya baby

  • My kids loved those little snap poppers. They are all over Chinatown!

  • I must say LA's Chinatown looks much more organized and is like a Business place compared to the Chinatown where I live (Canada, Vancouver). Its much more vibrant in LA, Chinatown here is towards gloomy atmosphere.

  • I think Chinatown LA has really worked hard to develop a business association, who promotes the weekend events. There are still some parts of the area that are run-down, but the main district of Central Plaza is fun and entertaining. Perhaps they can organize a group?

  • The Chinatown in Vancouver has a group towards business processes. However, the group is slack and lacks the understanding of making it better. Also, the provincial govt of Vancouver lacks the intiative to support Asian groups and fails to get rid of druggies. Chinatown in Vancouver gathers one of the worst because all the drunks, prostitutes, and drugs go (its Sin City). My govt just lacks the intiative to get rid of them.

  • That's a shame. Sorry to hear that.

  • You Should do a video of Disneyland Anaheim and don't forget to mention The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

  • Oh yes. It's on my list. I have tons of footage, so we'll probably put something together in the fall. I have to go back and shoot a few more things in HD and it's too busy there now. By the way, I love Tower of Terror!

  • its spelled illegal.

  • i went to chinatown, but only for 2 hours cuase my uncle was in a rush =( and i live all the way in florida!!!! that was my chance to see my heritage and we had to take my uncle!!! why coulnt we have rented a car?! i wouldve gotten a hotel there...

  • What a bummer! Hopefully you can make it out again. The weekends are really fun when they have the Shaolin Warrior Monks performing in Central Plaza! It's so cool to watch those guys!

  • we just got there yersterday we had a lot of fun... we live in fresno and it took like almost four hours driving...I love it....

  • Cool! What were your favorite sights while you were there?

  • thank you for posing this video. i hope to go to the moon festival 2009 in oct 3. i did go to chinatown and it was so cool. it was a couple of weeks ago though. i bought a shaolin monk statue figure in the art shop the k.g. one the owner told me about the moon festival too. anyway it was soooooooooooo much fun

  • Cool! I'll have to check out the Moon Festival as well. What do they have planned?

  • i really don't know but i won't to visit the moon festival on oct. 3, so yah

  • I used to go there every sunday with my grandma

  • How fun! What are your favorite spots there?

  • well, I remember this pond with lots of turtles there, my grandma and I would throw turtle food and the turtles would eat them. I'm not sure if its still there. And I loved shopping and eating there. I remember my grandma always tried to bargain with the store owners. I had lots of good times and happy memories in Chinatown.

  • Sounds like fun! I love Chinese food, so it was great trying out all the authentic dim sum and the boba tea. We bought a whole bag of fortune cookies to bring home from Wonder Bakery. Good stuff!

  • Thanks for commenting! What are your favorite spots to eat and shop in Chinatown?

  • Yang Chow has the most delicious fried rice i've ever had!

  • Mmmm. That sounds so good right about now. What else do you order there?

  • Shrimp with Broccoli , wonton soup, and sweet and sour pork.

  • Yum. Sounds great!

  • I was just in Chinatown last night eating dinner when the 4.7 hit. It felt like the floor was bouncing. The temple is really pretty....I lit some incense.

  • Nice! Where did you eat? Isn't the temple gorgeous?

  • Hello, nice review! 5/5. Do you know if they sell fireworks year round in Chinatown?

  • Thanks! Good question. I'm guessing probably *yes* but not 100 percent sure.

  • it didnt look like that when i visited LAs china town

  • Maybe you didn't go to the same areas as us. Did you visit Central Plaza?

  • i think so, i recognise the buildings, but ill be sure to check it out even more when i go again. Los angeles is such a good city

  • Did you go to the old Chinatown or the new one?

  • From what I understand, most of old Chinatown (from the late 1800s) is no longer standing. We were at the "new" Chinatown, established in the 1930s.

  • i prefer Little Tokyo

    better merchandise

  • We'll have to go there next time we're in LA!

  • Houston will never be as cool as this. Don't ever come to Houston Texas! Los angeles is way too cool

  • Born and raised in this neighborhood, I don't even shop or go around here. It's a ghost town after 4PM. Only time when it's busy is during t he New Years Parade.

  • nice review! But I don't think any restaurant has an A rating in Chinatown anymore... not even empress pavilion.

  • Hmmm. Yang Chow, Empress Pavilion, Wonder Bakery and Phoenix Bakeries had the A rating when we were there last month. Of course, things can change with new inspections.

    Thanks for your comment! Veronica

  • alot of reastaurnts have a's there

  • what happend to the video i cant see it =[

  • i perfer chinatown in SF.... better than LA's chinatown

  • It's on our list for a future video! Thanks! Veronica

  • ok~ we ll see it~

  • Nice Video I adore Chinatown in every state

  • Thank you! You are so kind. We really appreciate your feedback! Veronica

  • not to be a stalker but i was there rite next to where u filmed i was eating at the restarant next ti the fimling loction in golden city and a live near the temple

  • Cool! What a fun place to live! We stuffed ourselves on dim sum, fortune cookies and boba tea that day!

  • Another great video! At the end of the video you mention that we should make sure that there is an "A" on the window. Is that like a grading system of some sort? I don't believe I've ever heard of that. Of and that wasn't Brad Pitt they saw it was me = )

    - Paul Seveng

  • Thanks Paul! Yes, the A is a grade given by the health department. Chinatown is home to plenty of C restaurants, where you could potentially get sick. To get a C from the health department means that there are plenty of unsanitary conditions, ranging from dirty utensils and food handling to vermin like rodents or rats.

Glad you enjoyed the video. And I'll never mistake Brad Pitt for you again. :) Veronica

  • WOW! Veronica, your videos keep getting better and better! This one was great. Looks like you got a good fortune when you opened that cookie! Your videographer deserves a raise.

  • Thanks Tim! Chinatown was really fun; we had to drive down twice to get all the footage we needed. We didn't know what to expect, but it was quite fascinating. You have to love those fortune cookies; they always have something nice and positive to say, much like you!

  • Looks like a great place to visit ,especially knowing the fortune cookie was invented there :) 5 stars

    * * * * *

  • Thanks SWTPEA64! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

If you go, be sure to check out those Shaolin kung fu warriors. They are awesome!!!
