I am not sure what exhaust suits the 600 best, have you checked to see if you can get a Staintune or FMF pipe? I wonder if the pipe from the 650 will fit on the 600 with a few mods...
Staintune Exhaust with the stock air box will dyno tune nicely,,,switch to K&N or anything other than the stock air filter/box assembly and you're cursed to poppity-pop down the road for ever....
Depends on what you want to do with the bike. I use mine on large transport sections to get to great riding locations. I wouldn't think twice about 700km days of dirt or 3,000km rides. I load it up with days worth of camping gear, thrash it in the bush and ride it to work Monday to Friday. Service intervals aren't as often so you can travel further between maintenance. It does everything that I want and more. The DRZ has a slight more dirt focus but I ride the DR650 everywhere my DRZ buddies do
Thanks for the reply, Yea im looking into getting a dual purpose bike. Ill be doing a lot of both off and on road. How much faster is the 650? I know the 650 is SOHC and the 400 is DOHC.
Very true, my 2002 Dr 650SE sits at 120km/h all day, 145 if you want. Even with 31,000 Km on it. I don't know how accurate the speedo is when the needle is far to the right, but my Dr has been there. When you are this big, they call you Dr.
Some of the guys in the "advrider" DR650 forum in the States have a Supertrapp exhaust it may pay to post a question there. Search for "advrider" in google
Yes, the seller has good feedback however in some of the photos the pipe appears to be photoshopped in rather than actually installed. Why is that? It looks like the pipes are 'rebadged'. One question I would ask is what is the material they are made out of? Also are they rebuildable? It would be impossible to build stainless pipes for that price. One other thing: Postage from the States would be USD$50-75
well ive proved people wrong cause today i just tried mine and i done 173km/h down a hill that is and around 165 on flat not bad for only a K&N air filter and dyno jet kit all the rest is stock but im looking for a pipe now... did u check out thos jetson pipes for the dr650?
What is the item number on eBay? I didn't find anything under that name. You may want to find out how well they fit and clear items like your clutch cable and bash plate if you have one fitted. Also if there is a mount to keep your r/h side cover off the exhaust. $99 sounds too good to be true if you know what I mean
With stock gearing it will sit on 130-135kph all day long. I have had it up to 145kph with a little more achieveable but with knobbies on it is not so stable
the cops here are really big shits lol so i dunno if i could trust them yet cause i think the db is 95 here and cops would have a fit any other good exhaust out there
The exhaust is legal in Australia and from memory is 92-94dB. Staintune give you a noise label to attach to your bike once it is installed if you apply via their website or office. For what it is worth, I have ridden past Highway Patrol and other cops without getting any unwanted attention.
My DR does alot of motard stuff,so clean air is not a problem. 155 jet, air box mod and filter makes a big difference. Went to Suzuki today, and they told me i was sucking in to much air. I need a pipe to release what is being sucked in.
I have gone up to 155 main jet, and opened up my air box, then fitted a K&N air filter. The bike goes well, but needs a pipe badly. Will be getting one soon.
I went from the stock 140 Main to 145 (Mikuni - Large round) and turned the airscrew out 2.5 turns. I left the snorkel, airbox and filter stock so I don't get too much crap or water in the airbox on dusty roads or river crossings
It is a huge difference to the attitude and 'fun factor' when riding the bike. It growls and pops nicely and definitely lets the bike rev quicker, more freely and makes more power. It would be hard to put a percentage on the horsepower increase. I have heard it gives 4-7 extra horse power which is good because the stock bike makes under 50 HP
