They said that the Source Code makes alternate world/timeline meaning that this ending is not just the only ending. There are many others. He have been in the source code for at least 10 times. So there must be 10 alternate worlds. Only 1 out of 9 ended good. The 9 others were still bad endings because he didn't prevent the bomb from going off.
This mixture of both music and cinematography in the pause scene is nothing short of perfect for me. The definition of beauty. Definitely engraves that theme of living for the moment. How are you using your 8 minutes?
@cjtb666 they didn't... it's an image manipulating technique called camera mapping. there is one still pic, which is then applied to 3D geometry, each different persons pic is applied to a different plane (or something more complex), and then it zooms out, creating a 3D effect.
The scene where everyone in the train froze smiling was a tearjerker for me. I have friends who came from a lot of different countries, and I would imagine that it's us in that scene laughing together, and just being happy with each other, despite that we came from different cultures and upbringings. Nonetheless, I loved this movie.
my favorite movie for 2011. I interpret it as we are all data running in a system. even if we die, there are still copies of us running in other systems. i think instead of the freeze frame, they should have made it a comic relief where jake is anticipating the moment he cease to exists.
I view on the ending is that, The "NEW WORLD" he saw in Source Code was just his last thoughts before he died, finishing the kiss, living on in Sean's body. I always thought of it that way.
how the heck do they do 3D freeze frame shots where the camera moves around? ITS MAGIC. the only thing that puzzles me more is the 0 gravity scenes in inception.
@AcousticDude17 the one in the tall tower in inception is just a rotating scene, i saw this behind the scene thing and its just on basicly a big motor fliping the (hallway) scene around =D
The original ending, which I liked better, suggests Colter lived on into an alternate reality by taking over the body of the male teacher. His original body which was mutilated, died in the original reality.
Changing the ending, however, would have COMPLETELY changed the film. The point of the ending, was that every time Colter went in Source Code, it created an Alternate Reality, in which the inevitable could be prevented.
'The Adjustment Bureau' and 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' are also one of those sci fi movies where you will get cry and feel happy at the ending like this 'Source Code'.
Soo I just watched this in the house, and I started crying like a baby when he was talking to his dad up to the point where this video ended...I got up from the couch and walked away crying so hard, I just couldn't see the rest. It's such an amazing movie.
@alwayscommenting56 hahahaha dude if you, IF ANY OF YOU found the ending scene pointless it means you didn't understand it all. The ending is the best payoff to the films concept you could possibly hope for
@roloug95 uh, just because someone dislikes something doesn't mean they don't understand it. I understand the ending, the concept and everything, but I prefer if they end it this way (without the last few minutes of the movie). Everyone to their opinion :)
@alwayscommenting56 well yeah fine, but for goodness sake this movie isn't a romance, it's a sci fi action thriller in it's essence so why on earth would they leave it this way? It's just stupid. The ending is the best thing about this film
@roloug95 I like the shortened ending not because of its romance, but because it's more consistent with the applied phlebotenium / the fictional rule the movie had offered since the start, which is the fact that he's only alive because of the machine. It gives a more bittersweet, but consistent ending, in my opinion. The real ending (for me) feels rushed and was just there so that the movie has a happy ending. :)
@alwayscommenting56 trust me it's not there because they thought it needed a happy ending. It's there because it leaves the movie open for sci fi movie goers to debate it. Much the same as Inception did. The fact that it's bittersweet is what makes it dodgy. I would have been genuinely let down if it ended this way. I think the reason this is my favourite movie experience so far this year is because as it ends it leaves you mystified, perplexed and completely dumbfounded. A proper mind fuck.
@alwayscommenting56 The point of the ending, was that every time Colter went in Source Code, it created an Alternate Reality, in which the inevitable could be prevented. Without the FULL ending, all the film was about. was time travel, and the film ends with Colter and Christina dying. The film was about alternate realities/parallel universe's. It was foreshadowed SEVERAL times throughout the film. Ending was ANYTHING but pointless, you just didn't catch the point!
@alwayscommenting56 Yeah this should have been the ending ala Inception.Ambiguous endings are the best coz they leave room for speculation and makes people have something to discuss about.
@norluan THIS. I've always liked this version without realizing the reason, and now I know why! So true for ambiguous ending. The fact that the movie chose a very fixed ending left us no room to talk and be excited about.
@JibranSial because I feel that the parallel universe option has never been hinted throughout the movie, so it feels like an out of the blue kind of thing. I'd prefer the possibility to be actually hinted.
@TheTrailerCREAT0R It is a feel good ending but it feels like they pulled it out of their asses with no prior setup whatsoever. The ideas presented are too grand to be smashed into the span of 3 minutes, and deserve either their own film or to be left out of this one. The ending portrayed in this video is emotionally satisfying and closes up all loose ends given the rules previously established in the film. So for me the real ending feels like a tacked on happy ending and a bit of a cheat.
It really isn't. When you think about it, if you were living the last 8 minutes of someone's life, wouldn't you have no control? You would just be "watching" as the guy you are does whatever he did for his last 8 minutes. Because the world around Colter reacted to what he did, however, the fact that it was a new reality had to be explained.
