Plus, if other people are sayin that they like the '89 theme over this one, then that should mean that they would prefer to hear the '89 theme on MNF broadcasts over this one. And there are so many changes to the NFL (tv channels, graphics, theme songs, etc.) that I'm tiring of them, including this theme for MNF.

This takes me back, it used to be the theme tune to a BBC series in the UK called Superstars in the 70's and 80's where major sporting celebs risked thier careers in various athletic and other sporting contests eg, the England football (not soccer!!!) captain famously fell off his bike in a race and suffered various injuries. They wouldn't be allowed anywhere near this sort of thing these days! It'll be on You Tube I'm sure for those interested in looking it up.

I heard from a professor of mine who used to score ABC sports that it was Ed Kalehoff (who did The Price is Right, Family Feud, lots of the network nightly news for many years, millions of things). lilwheez is partly right. The 80's versions of the theme were the best, at a time when MNF had just emerged as a national spectacle. The theme began to mimic the ABC's Wide World of Sports song, and it was amazing. The 1989 version on Youtube here just doesn't sound as great as the song did on TV back then. That said, this 2009 ver. is very good. The problem with MNF is stupid Hank Williams dominates the opening with his fake-ass party. THAT is what the problem with MNF is, not the theme itself.

I HATE this version of the Monday Night Football theme. They overdid it, and although I still watch the games, I wish that they would play the 1989 version of this theme, the one that was used on ABC (up until the 2005 season).
